It's a bit more complicated than that, and goes back further than WW2. Additionally, "the Jews" weren't "displaced" by WW2. Millions of them were murdered by the Nazis, whose plan was to rid the world of anyone with Jewish background.

I’m certainly not confusing the Jewish people with the Isreali state! I have never confused them. However, people vote for a government and as I said before, I cannot understand why people vote for a government that inflicts such atrocities on the Palestinians. I’m sorry you seem to have misunderstood my position.

IMO, Palestine was stolen by the British and the USA for the Jews displaced by WW2, who disregarded the rights of the Palestinians. (The British implemented plantation in Ireland with very similar results).

It began long before that Ayse .....and there was a time when
Israelis were killing British soldiers.
It’s hugely complicated.The State of Israel is there to stay, they are surrounded by Muslim countries who hate them.
The Palestinian people have been treated badly, and their own politicians/ extremists/ hotheads have often made things even worse for them.
Many Israelis feel sympathy for Palestinians, many don’t.

There was migration to Palestine before WW1 afterwards many East European Jews migrated there and the Arabs didn’t like it one bit. After the Ottomans left administration was left to Britain having to keep the peace between warring Muslims and Jews, eventually Palestine had to be partitioned. IfBritain hadn’t been there bloodshed would have been much greater, in short the Jews would have been killed.

During and after WW2 floods of migrants went to Palestine and they turned on Britain because the weren’t getting independence fast enough. It was a poisoned chalice we never wanted.

All I am interested in is how the Palestinians are being so badly treated by Israel. Its a really straightforward matter of disliking bullies. This is irrespective of belief systems just fundamental decency.

Jane10 , I really don’t want to get involved in this debate* other than to say the whole issue is far, far more complicated than it first appears and to get a proper perspective facts and views need to be read from all sides.

There is nothing complicated about denying a certain section of the human race their rights because of their racial origins. There is no excuse for this. It's simple. The UN Declaration of Human rights set these out in 1948-https://www.un.org/en/universal-declaration-human-rights/
And Israel is in breech of it.

Theres nothing complicated about children crying at being thrown out of their homes ...homes their families haveowned and lived in for centuries in some cases.Or is the case that an Israeli citizen more entitled to that home than the folk who lived in it and worked the land ? Should Palestinians just walk away and NOT fight back? What would you do if someone came to take your home from you and threw your posessions in the street ,if you were being denied goods and medication because your (illegal) neghbours say you cant have them.THATS the side of the story thats seldom heard .

The West cannot be the world’s policeman in every case, and Israel is a hot potato.
It’s far too simplistic to cry ‘something must be done!’
Whatever can be done has been tried many times, and only talking can now help when the time and the political administration is right.

David - You're right. Arabs and Jews lived together in the Holy Land for centuries. Not always in perfect peace, but they put up with eachother on the whole.

Except.....it’s not about every situation throughout history,
It’s about a small adversary up against a big adversary, they simply can’t improve their lot by blowing up Jewish cafes and sending rockets into Israel.This makes Israel even more determined to keep the Palestinians down....and they will!
Nelson Mandela achieved more by spending his life in prison than by his organisation and their violence.Things improved in SA by peaceful means.In any case, all the events you mention trisher are completely different.
I do know what you mean, but would argue that Israel is such a complex case ( and they have the upper hand) that fairness for the Palestinian people can only ever come about by both sides recognising the rights of the other.Freedom fighting or terrorism and killing by the Palestinians will hinder not help.

I do wish you would engage with using your thoughts on the matter biba and not just personal point scoring ( and score settling!’)
My ‘ridiculous’ comment on Remembrance Day was....that peaceful diplomatic talks should win out over violence.

But usuallylemon talks only take place when the agressor realises they can't win. Sadly in many cases this involves the underdog committing many acts of what I suppose will now be called terrorism. The agressor of course often thinks they have completely overcome any resistance (think of the British and Ireland) and yet from the roots there arises another wave of violence. Of course talks should prevail but it requiires the agressor to recognise the ultimate futility of their actions. As for SA it was the pressure of world condemnation and isolation that brought them to talks, sadly the international community seem unwilling to act against Israel.
