Just that

Ooh, sackcloth and ashes time then? Rending of garments and gnashing of teeth?

It’s not the UK government threatening a hard border in Ireland, it’s the EU. It won’t happen though.

Yes, the EU will require a hard border across Ireland if no trade deal is made between Britain and the European Union if only to stop non standard goods entering Europe by that route. That is why it is now imperative the United Kingdom signs a trade and customs agreement with the EU.

These are now crucial weeks for this country, for we all could find ourselves badly affected by an emerging trading vacuum both with Europe and the United States. Unemployment is already rising rapidly due to the Covid crisis and Brexit is about to add to that unemployment tally unless a deal is now quickly concluded.

It won’t happen because there will surely be a deal done before the deadline.

The Republican party too needs to sort itself and separate Republicanism from Trumpism.

That is what it has become - a Trump cult.
Unfortunately many Americans subscribe to that cult; there may be jubilation now but I fear there will be trouble in the months ahead.

I certainly hope so, and one that will be accepted by the Conservative party in the House of Commons. If not we could have a political crisis on our hands to add to all the rest of it??

'a' Deal- what does that mean? Any deal, just for a deal's sake?

Mrs May got the very best Deal possible - she pushed to the limit, and knew there was no further to go. At the moment, and yes, I am aware that I am repeating myself- Johnson's holds no cards- the EU, and Biden/Harris- are 100% aware of that. Concessions will have to be huge at this stage.

I agree that May got the best deal possible at that time. The UK position is now weaker in the negotiations and therefore the EU can be even more demanding in their requirement for a deal. That will probably come in that they will make a condition that any deal Britain signs with a non European Union state must contain a provision that all goods imported must reach EU standards of regulation.

That would definitely upset many on the Conservative benches in parliament and make the passing of such a deal near impossible without opposition party support. It would also make many wonder what benefits there are to be found in Britain leaving the EU.

Indeed, the very best Deal was always to remain a strong partner at the top table in the EU.

But some played poker, gambled the country, and lost. Something will be salvaged, somehow- but it will never ever be the same. Johnson's, Cummings and ERGs dishonesty and arrogance have burnt many bridges- and all the cards in the process. Biden will ally with the EU- and they will dictate the terms. Johnson can choose to walk - into oblivion. And taking us with him.

Or he can grovel- as he has started to do- to try and get Biden and Harris to forget his behaviour, his alliance with Trump and Bannon and others- and his sheer racist comments towards Biden's best ever friend and ally, Obama. Kamala will find it hard to forgive him, for sure.

Some here and throughout the UK are just refusing to see just how weak the UK's situation is currently, with so little time to go.

And the massive Farage Garage, built on a flood plain, is just filling with water like a giant swimming pool- you could not make it up (how many times do we have to say it).

Johnson seen as a shape shifting creep and racist by Biden aides.

Johnsons past is catching up with him.

The very best deal was the deal we had in 2016, before the fraudulent referendum.

Even if, sometime in the future, we manage to get back into the EU, we will never, ever get such a good deal as the wreckers threw away in 2016.
