Why does he spend most days (when he’s not self isolating) being filmed in a school, laboratory, shop wearing a variety of costumes and hats. Has this always happened? I’m sure it didn’t. It’s as if he’s permanently on some sort of campaign trail. Shouldn’t he be at a desk somewhere working? This has been bothering me for a long time now.

It’s the Brexit negotiations that are worrying me. The deadline for a deal is perilously near and I wonder if we are heading over the cliff edge. Boris should be spending his time taking control of those.

Wearing a suit = bad. You couldn't make it up.
It's like being stuck in the 1970s.

Nice to see you again old timer.

Yes, I have been on this thread about six times today. Nobody keeps me down when I have an opinion to share. ?

It is like the roles have been reversed. Surely it should be Starmer with the title of "LABOUR PARTY LEADER" that should be out there in overalls among the workers and Johnson with the title of "Prime Minister" in Westminster wearing a suit and pouring over the paperwork.

Politics gone barmy.

Here he is again, dressed in a different outfit, at another workplace. Why isn’t he doing something useful. ....maybe he’s not so good at that. I despair.

And on it goes. It's like GBH, but without the humour.

Well it makes a good change from four years of those on the right wing of the party undermining Corbyn even to the extent of indulging in preventing Labour winning a General Election.

At least Boris has not had that to contend with from within his own party.

oh the bitter irony ...

exactly what will happen again, if people do the same all over again. (btw I supported Corbyn and voted for him, and totally agreed he is not antisemetic - although I feared he was unelectable, which proved correct.).

PM’s have done these photo shoots/ opportunities out visiting factories etc for a long time, particularly at difficult times for the country or near elections.
As another poster has mentioned already, there were constant cries of ‘where’s Boris’ not so long ago, so people can’t have it both ways.

we want to see Boris doing his job, taking responsibility, answering difficult questions-

not posing like a 3rd class actor in silly fancy costume.

I for one is very pleased Starmer dresses for the job he is elected to do, and not the above.

Well, there was Boris on the main evening news again tonight having a photoshoot and interview in white overall while visiting Porton Down where much research is taking place regarding Covid-19. He is trying to give the impression that he is "in amongst it" and doubtless succeeding with some, if not many. So, not a bad strategy the government obviously feel.

However, where was the leader of the parliamentary opposition, once again nowhere to be seen? Starmer was probably brushing down his latest posh suit in Westminster and plotting how he can further upset just about everybody in the Labour party. grin

quizqueen Fri 27-Nov-20 18:37:07

First he's nowhere to be seen, now he's popping up everywhere! The job of a Prime Minister, as with any other leader, is to delegate, be a figure head and then make decisions on recommendations.

It's amazing how some in the labour party choose to moan about starmer on every thread related to the tory party, one would almost believe they were tories in disguise.

They’re complaining about Jess Phillips now. This follows on from Margaret Beckett. confused

The taxpayer is paying the salary of Bob the Builder’s official photographer.

Ellianne Fri 27-Nov-20 18:24:40

Can you imagine reading the written job description for PM? It must run into 100s of pages. That's why you have to surround yourself with people who can advise you and that's where it all gets controversial.

vampirequeen Fri 27-Nov-20 18:17:10

I'd rather he was doing his job than posing for photos. Our country is in the midst of a health and economic crisis with the Brexit disaster just around the corner and he's busy having his publicity shots taken.

Is today Boris' first day out from isolation? Maybe that is why we are getting an extra helping of "out and about" photos today?

Jane10 Fri 27-Nov-20 17:59:20

Alegrias my Covid death stats came from the Office of National Statistics UK and the National Register of Scotland. Scotland has 25% more deaths per million of population than England has had. Nuff said.

Boris might just be a frustrated actor, wanting to dress up in different costumes in new places. At least he hasn't dressed up as a chicken yet like one of the advisers who left recently.

One place Boris visited and where he had a photoshoot was at the factory of one of his party's donors in which he sat on their equipment. I'm not saying what the equipment was to give them another free advert.

Perhaps we'll see a photo of Boris soon that mirrors the DiaperDon one!

silverlining48 Fri 27-Nov-20 15:19:10

Niobe this was the point I was trying to make but it seems some people are happy our PM is playing dress up even though there is proper work to do. Or as you say DomCom is still running the show.
Brexit is upon us, there must be something he could occupy himself with...personally my wish would be a deal or a delay given covid and all that means but that’s another post.

suziewoozie we know exactly what Keir Starmer is doing when the cameras are not there, he continues his mission to tear apart and destroy the Labour Party. Even the Guardian are now saying that it is now virtually impossible for the Labour movement and party to remain as one.

As a long time reader I wouldn’t trust the Guardian’s analysis and opinion on KS and the Labour Party but really don’t want to go off on that siding.
