All I'm trying to say is don't take it too seriously, and let it get you down, whichever side of the fence you're on.
It's nor getting me down, Fanny
But I do think people tend to forget this is about real people, it's not Corrie or Eastenders. They may live what appear to be gilded lives but everyone is staring into their gilded cage with an opinion, some of it just vile and nasty.
Being Head of State is not romantic either, as people living overseas may think. It's a job that has to be undertaken with support. Even if we didn't have a Monarchy willing to undertake the burden, someone who is apolitical would have to do it and you can bet they wouldn't want to be doing the job from leaky old offices, entertaining in draughty old state rooms - we'd be forking out far more money for a Head of State.
Any suggestions?
