I thought that was odd Smileless. I wish Oprah had been able to ask some real questions.
Please help! (grandchild being locked in bedroom)
How did you vote and why today
Voting. I’m so glad we still have the ‘old fashioned’ system…
Obviously, the Oprah interview with the Sussexes.
I will because I want to hear it straight from the source rather than media spin/interpretation so that I can comment later on what I saw and heard, when discussions start up as they surely will.
However, I don’t think they should be doing an interview at all (I felt the same about Diana and Charles interviews) these things end up backfiring against them.
I thought that was odd Smileless. I wish Oprah had been able to ask some real questions.

As have you Lucca.
Please explain that comment Maddy? Are you saying I’ve watched highlights and clips ? I haven’t.
You seem to be saying that Meghan is acting and therefore not telling the truth.
I’m undecided about watching it, it is not my sort of thing. If I don’t watch it I won’t comment.
But you must know as well as I do that the press on either side of the political divide are quite capable of reporting even a televised interview in such a way as to fit a certain bias.
I’ve said many times before I am not on any particular “side”. My objections voiced on this site have always been about the amount of “nasty” comments along the lines of remarks about Meghan’s acting career, comments claiming to know her innermost thoughts and plans.

I thought the same Lucca so I will, somewhat reluctantly, watch it.
I think the Queen though is very sensible in deciding she will give it a miss thank you very much!
Thank you Jennifer!
And I agree the queen is wise not to watch, however she won’t be able to avoid hearing about it from her courtiers/advisors/family I’d guess.
I won't be watching. I am so sorry that Harry suffered the loss of his mother under such awful circumstances. I can understand him wanting to protect his wife.
Who was the person/people questioning what colour Archie would be? Really? You can't take an educated guess? He says stuff like that in public, there is NO reason to think he wouldn't be just as offensive in private. Meghan said the Queen had only ever been nice to her.
And as for Kate. You all believed the rumours when it was believed that Meghan made Kate cry. But disbelieve it when it is said that Kate made Meghan cry.
Fair enough, you are picking sides. But don't pretend you are being insightful and impartial.
I've seen it.
Nobody knows who is telling the truth
But that wedding story is a falsehood. They might have had a rehearsal but not a wedding.
I think the Queen will have to comment, or the Palace. It's just far too big a deal.

And so it starts. With no evidence whatsoever, serious allegations against someone who can’t answer back.
As with the comments before about Meghan. Why is it OK to do it to her, but the minute it happens with a member of the RF, it is unacceptable.
Double standards.
Are you claiming to be impartial Gagajo?
Lucca people with closed minds will twist/interpret everything to fit their beliefs.
Personally I can’t understand how this couple attract so much vitriol. They’re hardly on the same level as the Ceausescus.
I have decided I am as entitled as anybody else to comment in these threads. I have my tin hat on ready for the flak.
No NellG. I have opinions, as we all do, but to be honest, they are not either for or against the royal family. I think they are all a waste of money. As individuals, I prefer some of them to others (the Queen and Anne, for example).
What I really can't stand is this hatred, dressed up as 'impartial' discussion.
Yes, out of curiosity.
I think that the actual Royal Family may well have got so used to the way things are done, they can't see any other way. We also forget that the Queen and Prince Philip are both now in their nineties and will not change.
From the bits I have seen, it may not be the actual Family but those that work for them - think Downton Abbey and the Carson insisting certain things must be done a certain way, because that was the way it had always been done - I have no doubt that there are still some staff there exactly the same.
Gagajo One of the royal correspondents has said he has been informed the comment regarding the colour of Archie’s skin was definitely not made by either the Queen or the DoE.
Where did it all go wrong? William, Kate, Harry and Meghan were hailed as the Fab Four in the early days. They were promoting mental health awareness and everything in the royal garden appeared rosy.
Now sadly we hear that Meghan’s mental health was such that she felt suicidal and had no help from the Royal family. Surely Harry should have stepped up to the plate and sought medical help for his wife. He didn’t need permission from his extended family to do so and had the wealth to facilitate it. She could have been seen in the privacy of their own home.
But instead, on the evening that she disclosed her suicidal feelings to her husband, he paraded her in front of the paparazzi to attend an event at the Albert hall. Meghan said she went to the event as she didn’t feel safe to be left home alone and wept when the lights dimmed in the hall.
I think we all could put a list together of those likely to have made that sort of comment.
Just as well M&H asked for The Crown to finish before their story. Given their influence over Netflix, it would be totally one sided.

I’ve not given any opinion of Harry or Meghan, on here or elsewhere on social media, so please do not accuse me of double standards.
Serves them both right for drawing attention to themselves---they need something to do !

I doubt I will watch the interview.
However, press intrusion and speculation is something I have witnessed first hand and so I completely understand the urge to be heard when misinformation has been published. It’s a ‘no win’ situation though because the press can, and always does, control the narrative.
oprah just provided the staged platform of course and wasn't there to interview them.
Editors will be working overtime, no change there.

^Diana’s Granddaughter^
She already has a granddaughter, Charlotte, so not as if she will be the first GD in the family.
Another first, the Royals don’t usually divulge the sex of an unborn baby. I don’t imagine there will be quite so much of a hoo ha about where this one will be born, home or hospital.
Ah, I'm well aware of that re Charlotte.
But I'm seeing it from a US perspective. Hardly any of them knew who Harry was, let alone Charlotte.
H&M s daughter will be a true American Princess. Think the new Camelot, cross between the Obamas and the Kennedys.
Do you remember that M&H wrote
I am my mother's son'
And I am my son's mother'
Harry sees himself as the keeper of his mother's memory and the little girl will be Diana's true legacy.
Furthermore, there isn't a whisper of Spencer about Charlotte, shes pure Windsor and Middleton.
Poor Archie won't have a look in when this girl is born.
GagaJo Really? (You can't take an educated guess? He says stuff like that in public,)
your educated guess is wrong.
Calendargirl 'not much of a hoo ha'?
Don't you believe it!
We ain't seen nothing yet!

It wasn't an accusation, I just never thought it ever was an impartial discussion, how can it be? I'm certainly not impartial, though it is possible to see 'both sides' and what led up to this. However I do think it's a discussion people should be allowed to have. I can only speak for myself but I don't owe M&H anything, I don't believe that I hate them but I deeply dislike the game they appear to be playing.
It's interesting that some dislike the behaviour in the discussion because it causes discomfort and others dislike the couple's behaviour because it is causing discomfort.
Daft thing is we pretty much all want exactly the same thing, for them to 'do one' and go and live quietly and happily out of our realm of attention.
Unless there is some call for people like me to embrace them in some way?
