Demonic has suggested that Mr Johnson has been not entirely honest about his communications with James Dyson.
I recognise many people believe Mr J was ‘doing his best for the country in a pandemic’ when he offered to sort the tax for Mr Dyson. But, do we want ethical government or not?
Whose
Actually, regards Liz Truss. She could be a PM in waiting, I think she's doing a brilliant job. Quietly getting on with it. I can't understand the doom and negativity which mushrooms every time she's responsible for something good happening, but I've concluded that for some people being miserable cynics is their comfort zone.
?
The Nolan principles.
In my view Johnson fails on every single one.
Integrity
Selflessness
Objectivity
Accountability
Openness
Honesty
Leadership.

The difference between Johnson and Cummings is that Cummings will have kept a record and evidence of everything that’s happened. I personally think that Johnson isn’t actually a bad person at heart: privileged and foolish yes but not bad. Cummings is pretty evil, but much much smarter. I’m finding it all gruesomely fascinating.
I think Cummings is calculating whereas I doubt if BoJo has ever seriously calculated anything in his life. He's a chancer, quite simply, out for number 1. Hard to credit that he once had reputation for his debating skills. Going on his performance at PMQs, he couldn't debate his way out of a paper bag.

Actually it’s because every trade deal she trumpets is either worse or no better than the one it’s replacing. You appear not to have followed the Japanese one.
Truss always sounds like a 78 record on the wrong speed.

She’s certainly a record - plays whatever tune she’s been programmed for by No 10!?
I think Liz Truss is doing well, yes some of the deals are re-hashing similar ones which we had whilst a member of the EU.
Nevertheless she is working away getting on with her brief
Anyone like to defend Johnson and the Nolan principles?

Well, she's keeping up the tradition of not answering the question, if today's Andrew Marr is anything to go by.
As for Johnson's fiancee being responsible for all and sundry - that could only happen if he allowed his personal life and convenience to trump the interests of the nation and the electorate. Is that really the sort of person you want to run the country?

Well his one objective was to get Brexit done, which he did.
It's not only the Tories, I remember Tony Blair seemed to be making a fortune on the side when he was PM as well. He actually told more serious lies than a flat redecoration.
I have just seen this on Twitter
Country in lockdown
Travel Ban
Economy is pants
Indians have no oxygen
1/3 of the world in deep Covid sh*t
Race baiting everywhere
US riots
Russia doing what it wants
China brainwashing camps
modern day slavery
UK media who paid for Boris’s curtains
That's one way of spinning the sleaze. If the last point were replaced with 'UK PM spending taxpayers' money on decorating his grace and favour flat', however, it would take on a different slant.
Nice point - but he is PM and no one should be excusing his behaviour as if he were a child ( although he is)
I'm not excusing him.
PMs do need advisers but not to the extent that one seems to run the whole of government - that is why people do vote for a party and leader of choice. They hope for someone strong and competent.
It has been a worrying trend in recent years.
That's why so many voted against their principles because they felt they couldn't vote for Corbyn and whoever was advising him.
I doubt many lifelong Labour voters read the right wing press but yet they didn't vote for Corbyn. Thousands may have joined the Labour party as Grany says but that didn't matter when it came to the ballot box.
It won't matter next time either because, although the left wing of the LP despise Starmer, he may well get in.
Dyed in the wool voters of any party are not the ones who decide when it comes to the GE.
Last time it was amazing that even traditional Labour voters voted Tory and Johnson. It was a vote against Corbyn.
Anyway, that is old ground but entirely relevant because it led to where we are now.

I think the only one who wouldn't spend much on the flat was Margaret Thatcher
So Dominic Cummings drops hints that he approached Tory Donors to lend PM some dosh to add to the £30,000 refurbishment allowance all PM’s get, suddenly DC is believed.
In that case his Barnard Castle eye test and his reasons for travelling the length of the Country with his young son and wife when he thought he may have Covid were obviously altruistic...
???
It is possible for some people to look at a person and think, "Oh he's making that up to save his skin, look at that smirk"
Then a few months later, think "Hmm, he's saying what the rest of us have been thinking....I wonder if that's accurate?"
I'd go out and check if he told me the sky was blue, but when a former senior government advisor accuses the PM of corruption (allegedly) the government have to investigate it.
So people chose a sleaze bag and liar Johnson who would sell the NHS, but not attacked and smeared Corbyn couldn't wonder at it I suppose.
But thoses who chose a Liar and sleaze bag you've got what you have voted for.
In the Times Cummings is blaming Johnson for thousands of covid deaths not locking down sooner he has a written dossier which he will present.
but those who chose a liar and sleaze bag you’ve got what you voted for
Sadly, those of us who didn't vote for the sleaze ball liar are stuck with him Grany. 80 seat majority and he remains popular.
Cummings seems to be a cold, calculating, overly self confident liar. Johnson fits a similar profile except unlike Cummings, Johnson can play the entertaining, happy chappie.
I’d like to live in the UK without the daily Mail for 6 months. I cant help feeling it’s malign influence helped get us into our current mess

How ironic the whole of last year Labour MPs and supporters were calling Dominic Cummings all sorts of unflattering names, he was liar, a Machiavellian puppet master etc.
Now Labour are hanging on his coattails and his every word...
