In a week that it has been proved that the media manipulated his mother do you think the same is being done to Prince Harry? There is something new ever day at the moment and I feel he is being used by Oprah for publicity.

maddyone Mon 24-May-21 23:21:35

I do think Oprah is using both Harry and Meghan for her own publicity. However that is Oprah’s job so anyone interesting or unusual is fair game to her.

I've read all the thread now.
I thought it was asking if Prince Harry was being manipulated by the media.

It has almost no comments regarding this idea.

...just an observation.

I think there is manipulation by both Harry and the media. Sadly for him I also think Harry will be the loser in the end.

I think the last thing that Harry and Megan are doing is making a success of their lives. I really think it’s getting unkind now to broadcast Harry’s rants as he is clearly mentally ill and needs help. Why can’t the press just leave him alone, once he’s said these dreadful things about his family, it will make it very difficult to make up with them, as I’m sure he will want to do in the future. It must be very hard for the Queen.

Well said Sparkling.

I feel H is being manipulated.

I guess part of the problem with the media is that the couple upped sticks and went to Hollywood, the centre of it all. No one who is anyone can get away without exposing (!) themselves in that place. The UK was pretty much the same for H & M.
I wonder how it might have been for them if they had gone somewhere neutral, where neither one of them was on home territory, like Africa or Switzerland? I know in this day and age the media is everywhere, but they could have "hidden" themselves from it better.

Alegrias1 Tue 25-May-21 08:49:37

They are nowhere near Hollywood. Where did you get that idea?

They are "in" with the Hollywood set.

Anniebach Tue 25-May-21 08:52:07

They are not hiding away from the media, they chose to expose themselves, they are making millions.

Sparklefizz Tue 25-May-21 08:52:31

They are not trying to hide from the media, though Ellianne, despite their claims when they left the UK...... they are choosing to court the media to say their piece.

Sparklefizz Tue 25-May-21 08:52:55

Snap Anniebach smile

Ellianne Tue 25-May-21 08:57:30

Yes, Annie and Sparkling, snap, that is the contradiction people can't get their heads round.
What do they really want? I don't think Harry knows. Maybe in time he will find out, but his life is not a happy one.

Just to inform you Alegrias, as I know you don't follow them, Harry did his bus tour round Los Angeles ..... a sprawling Southern California city and the center of the nation’s film and television industry, Hollywood.
In terms of American distances H & M are on the doorstep of Hollywood and use it for their own purpose.

Alegrias1 Tue 25-May-21 09:07:34

I spent about six months in LA county in the nineties. I've got a reasonable grasp of the geography, thanks. Including Montecito and Santa Barbara county.

I find it's a common misconception that everybody in the vicinity of LA is part of the Hollywood scene.

Just to inform you.

Ellianne Tue 25-May-21 09:08:22

Wow a geography lesson now just to derail the topic!

GagaJo Tue 25-May-21 09:19:19

I feel very sorry for him. He has clearly been extremely damaged by the lunacy that involves being a member of the royal family and the death of his mother. And as for that walk behind her coffin... I think we all watched that at the time and were appalled.

Poor guy. I like him and feel bad for him. I really wouldn't want to be married to someone that screwed up.

Anniebach Tue 25-May-21 09:26:30

I wasn’t appalled by their choice to walk behind the coffin , and
I think he was damaged by his mother.

You really didn’t like her did you?,

Anniebach Tue 25-May-21 09:38:13

Lucca not a case of like or dislike, I just give my opinion on
her which is not shared, such the tragic accident which caused her death, she was not killed by the papps, yes they chased the
car but the choice to take that car ride was not made by them.

I don’t understand how Alegrias1 said H & M were nowhere near Hollywood when she claims to have actually been there. This is now amended that not everyone in LA is part of the Hollywood scene. That is so very true. Parts of LA are now so bad with the homeless sleeping on the streets that the more affluent are moving out if they can, and the super rich all want to live in Montecito and Santa Barbara, including Hollywood stars that H&M are hobnobbing with.

trisher Tue 25-May-21 10:10:05

Given a chance I wouldn't mind moving to Montecito! May has been so cold and wet.

Alegrias1 Tue 25-May-21 10:12:53

Why are you talking about me in the third person? confused

Framilode Tue 25-May-21 10:21:19

There are ways of handling being a member of the royal family and Princess Anne is a good example of one who has handled it successfully. She is the Queen's only daughter and during her younger days was very high profile.
When she married she decided to live quietly in the country, do her official engagements and keep her private life private.
She got a lot of stick from the press but did not respond. There were a couple of scandals but again she didn't respond.

She carried on doing what she did and building a solid work base and becoming a very respected royal.

For me it's the bad choices H&M have made, and are still making, that has led to the present situation.

maddyone Tue 25-May-21 11:31:27

She got a lot of stick from the press but did not respond.

She said ‘Naff off’ to the press when the press were taking her photograph after she fell off her horse during a competition. Maybe Harry and Meghan would do well to follow her example and tell the press to ‘Naff off.’

Anniebach Tue 25-May-21 11:33:47

When Anne endured that awful kidnap attempt in the Mall she didn’t keep on and on and on about it, she has never spoken of
her first husband having an affair or about their divorce.

When young she had the cameras clicking, no suing of newspapers, yes she did once say naff off when the cameras
surround her when she fell off her horse.

She has dignity.

maddyone Tue 25-May-21 11:38:45

I think I might have said more than ‘Naff off’ if the press were photographing me if I’d fallen off a horse Annie.
I have a lot of respect for Anne, she has led her life with dignity and works hard for the crown.

Your opinion. We differ.

Meh.
