Anyone watching this now? He really does talk the talk doesn’t he. Has just stated that no health worker has died due to lack of PPE. At least Sarah Owen is now giving him a good grilling.

I don’t think she’d have been allowed our masks worriedwell as they were reusable.… But I had no idea the NHS (disposable) type would not be readily available for NHS staff. It was shocking to see the shortages. And had my daughter been doing what yours was, I would have been frantic with worry for her. The way the PPE was unavailable/rationed was disgraceful.
I feel rather mean now for having both bought them and raising it here to be honest, worried - and some of my family said I was “over the top” at the time - but the point is that ordinary people could see an unfolding disaster yet the government say no-one knew.

Then of course the government takes the credit for the vaccine which is fair enough in that they simply threw money at it. Because they had someone who actually knew about procurement we bought loads and loads of everything going and we’re ok. The PPE was another matter - idiots were in charge of that and they quibbled over price and bought rubbish too late.

We need to learn from this now, not in another century!

Hi..my extended family & friends are mostly EU countries and US ..?

growstuff I remember those threads on here about howItalians were badly hit as they all lived in small apartments with their grannies and didn’t have proper toilets. I was furious as I have relatives in the worst hit region of Italy which is nothing like this description. A few weeks later our death rate was the highest in Europe.

It wasn't just a matter of price quibbling; they actually ignored long established UK PPE suppliers, who were clamouring to supply, in favour of their cronies and tory donors, with no PPE supply experience at all, who then purchased the rubbish at highly inflated prices... This is not forgotten, however much the government tries to rewrite history...

Given the responses on GN of many govt supporters Maizie I think that the PPE mess will be forgotten unless they are occasionally reminded of that and other c--k ups.

Don't feel bad, you were doing the best for your family. My DIL worked all through on a covid ward, my son worked on a long stay ward which eventually became overrun with covid and he caught it. Fortunately he hasn't gone on to develop long covid but he isn't local so I couldn't see him and he is my baby and I was very worried. All of mine fully vaccinated now so I feel a bit less anxious.

Hancock was downright rude to Kay Burley on Sky this morning refusing to answer what he called rubbish questions. Has obviously ran out of lies with which to answer said questions.

theworriedwell Tue 22-Jun-21 16:08:59

I missed that MayBee, I often watch Kay Burley but we've got the builders in and the chaos means I didn't see any news this morning.

He must be feeling the pressure if he's being rude.

MayBee70 Tue 22-Jun-21 16:34:24

I’m not an early riser. It was DH that told me. Pity Kay blotted her copy book because she’s very good at asking awkward questions. Hancock must be feeling the pressure though because when I have seen him interviewed by Kay in the past it’s usually quite good natured.

theworriedwell Tue 22-Jun-21 17:54:14

Yes, almost flirty but definitely good natured. She is good at asking awkward questions without it becoming to aggressive. I have a tendency to flick round the news in the morning so see a bit of BBC, GMTV and Sky but watch Sky most. I think BBC has got silly and GMTV always was.

IMO Channel 4 News is the most reliable but they do not have a morning show and are now being threatened with privitisation.

JaneJudge Wed 23-Jun-21 07:34:43

he kept picking/rubbing his nose

theworriedwell Wed 23-Jun-21 07:48:01

Varian, I always think it's a shame channel 4 don't have a morning news programme.

JaneJudge our govt have really got style. I'm surprised Kay Burley didn't smack his hand and tell him to stop.

David Attenborough's view on Channel 4

theworriedwell Fri 25-Jun-21 07:32:25

Well he's made the front page today. I hope the partners and children concerned are OK, it must be very difficult.

Whitewavemark2 Fri 25-Jun-21 08:19:01

I wondered what Hancock had done to prompt so much interest.

Blimey! I’ve just seen the photo.

Now I can’t get it out of my brain?

I assume Johnson will defend him to the hilt.

Biscuitmuncher Fri 25-Jun-21 08:34:53

I've seen the photo, they don't look very socially distanced to me! And to think weve let him tell us how to live our lives!!! An adulterer and a liar!

Whitewavemark2 Fri 25-Jun-21 08:40:39

Guidance to office workers from Hancock???

Whitewavemark2 Fri 25-Jun-21 08:51:54

James O'Brien

Some people think a politician’s adultery speaks to bigger questions of trustworthiness & integrity. Some don’t. Before Johnson, most Tories claimed to care about ‘family’ & even ‘Christian’ values. They clearly never did. That, I think, is what ‘virtue signalling’ really means.

JaneJudge Fri 25-Jun-21 08:52:54

maybe he was helping her with her mask. I'm sure they'll come up with an elaborate excuse. We've had eye tests made as an excuse for rule breaking, maybe this one will include dentistry

Biscuitmuncher Fri 25-Jun-21 09:02:41

JaneJudge I dont think she was wearing her mask on her arse grin

JaneJudge Fri 25-Jun-21 09:05:30

grin

It's very apple tree yard. I wonder if she'll frame him for murder..

Parsley3 Fri 25-Jun-21 09:05:38

Now what plausible explanation will he come up with for being caught in a snog? Testing the efficacy of the vaccine?

allium Fri 25-Jun-21 09:13:19

Hands, face, not much space ??

Whitewavemark2 Fri 25-Jun-21 09:21:27

It apparently is not so simple as it would first appear.

First she appears to have been appointed without the usual scrutiny. They are long-standing friends.
She is a lobbyist, questions need asking about such things as PPE procurement etc.

Nothing is simple where a Tory is concerned.
