Prince Andrew is being sued

Well it had to be done, so I’m doing it. It’s in the news this morning that Prince Andrew is being sued in New York by Virginia Roberts for having underage sex with her when she was seventeen. Will there be a successful outcome for her?

maddyone Wed 11-Aug-21 10:02:42

I think that women of her age were taught to turn a blind eye to what they probably see as ‘indiscretions.’

I think you’re right Doodledog. My own experience bears that out. I was ‘groped’ by a family member when I was a teenager, but I was not underage. I said nothing at first, but when I did disclose to my parents a couple of years later, suffice it to say , I was not treated with any empathy. The disclosure did not go down well. The person is now dead, but his wife is still alive so I’ll say no more on here.

I still don’t understand how Sarah Ferguson can stand him. Mind you, I think she’s a bit tacky, even though she was brought up in a nice family. I’d better say no more, since obviously I don’t know her.

Maxwell is prepared to go to court and testify PA did not have sex with Giuffre according to The Telegraph.

Whitewavemark2 Wed 11-Aug-21 11:03:35

So Giuffre alleges that Windsor sexually assaulted her in 3 locations.

In London at Maxwells residence - Windsor has a photo with his arm around Giuffre and his hand on her bare hip, so that will help him remember something he continuously denies.
In New York- at Epstein’s Manhattan address, although Windsor has denied it maintaining that he was staying at the ambassadors residence at the time. However, the ambassador says that he has no recollection of the stay, and indeed there is no record of it in the court circular.
The Virgin Islands - Epstein’s property known locally as paedophile island. Windsor continued with his friendship of Epstein even after he (Epstein) had been convicted of procurement. As the police said 50+ girls came forward all telling the same story.

Two years ago Windsor flew up to Balmoral to escape attention, but then flew off in a private jet on holiday with Ferguson. He is expected to do the same this summer.

6% of the British public believe him to be innocent. All on GN?.

It is time he faced his accusers.

With thanks to Ms Hyde

I didn’t see a poll on this forum re Andrew - guilty or innocent
where can I find it ?

Yes, a thread about rape and the grooming of young girls is just crying out for humour, isn't it?

Agreed - some of the comments on this thread are unbelievable, and just reinforce my earlier comment about victim shaming. Underage sex - sex with a person below the age of consent - is rape, full stop. It seems that an awful lot of people on here clearly don't under the concept of grooming or coercive control.

MoorlandMooner Wed 11-Aug-21 11:36:57

maddyone I am so sorry nobody helped you when you needed it.

For every person who gets away with this kind of abuse someone suffers and often many people turn a blind eye.

I knew something was coming up when the press made a big hoo haa about Sarah Ferguson being invited to Balmoral this summer. Doting (ex) wife) = nothing to see here.

I know what you mean about Sarah Ferguson though. Knowing that your husband has done that can’t be easy to take.

Knowing what your husband has alleged to have done. Or are you judge jury and executioner?

Oof!

No, I'm none of those things. In my first sentence I was attempting to understand the Queen's reluctance to get involved, and in the second I was commenting on SF's loyalty to a man who at the very least is known to have spent a lot of time in the company of a convicted paedophile and sex trafficker, and has been accused of taking part in similar activity. I agreed with Maddyone, who said that she doesn't understand her - nor do I.

Well said Blondiescot.

It’s Andrew Windsor’s actions that are in question. If he has nothing to fear he really should be doing all he can to clear his name but I’m quite sure that his connections will be working very hard to cover his back.

These are the people that should be ashamed.Turning a blind eye to abuse can be just as bad as the abuse itself.

I have read that Sarah Ferguson was also a friend of Epstein and that he gave her money to pay off debts. No suggestion she was involved in any sexual activity or knew of it. However, we are talking about someone who thought it OK to have their toes kissed on holiday man who was not her husband and both scantily clad while her two small daughters looked on (photos in public domain) so maybe she sees things differently?

She received $19 000 after he had been in prison for offences against a minor. She later said that it was an error of judgement....

Her mother left her father for another man.

Both parents remarried

Her father hit the headlines for going to a massage parlour !
when married to his second wife

Who cares. We don’t financially support her parents.

I suggest Maxwell is prepared to testify PA is innocent, as if he is found guilty then surely that will go against her?

maddyone Wed 11-Aug-21 12:56:51

Thank you for your kind words MoorlandMooner.

I agree with Doodledog and others who don’t care for Sarah Ferguson. I don’t know her obviously, but I think her behaviour over the years has been tacky. She has sold her name and connections to the RF over the years. I suppose Sarah and Andrew deserve each other.

It is difficult to see how the Queen manages to stay silent. I fed sorry for her, but I do feel she should have said/done something. I know he won’t be doing anymore royal duties and has lost his patronages, but now he appears to just live a very privileged life style pleasing himself.

Sparklefizz Wed 11-Aug-21 13:11:26

I'm not sure what we could expect him to do, though. What do you think?

Anniebach Wed 11-Aug-21 13:46:34

Maddyone. What could the Queen do or say ? She has never
spoken out about her family with the exception of the deaths of her mother, sister and ex daughter in law

Is this woman a friend of Megan's by any chance?

Gransnet just hit an all time low ?

Some sort of charity work I think would be a good idea.

She can do or say anything she likes. She has chosen not to speak out - this is not a rule that Moses brought down from the mountain.

Anniebach Wed 11-Aug-21 14:06:50

Ilovecheese surely no charity would want to be associated with him.

To quote Mandy Rice-Davies, 'Well, she would say that'.

Although the RF don't seem to be aware of this fact, you can do charity work anonymously and not be named, or photographed shaking hands with people.

He could set up a nice organisation that decides where all his vast fortune gets distributed. Then in 40 years people will say, he turned his life round, didn't he?

I know I'm dreaming....wink

Beat me too it Anniebach.
I am wondering if the people of Yorkshire would like his Duke of York title removing. I think we would.
