Says he is “keen to get my voice back”.

I love listening to Nick Ferarri on LBC in the morning and have done for as long as I can remember. Nick is a great interviewer, very knowledgable and lets everyone voice their point of view whether he agrees or not. However I switch the radio off at 10.00 when James O'Brien comes on - can't stand the man and his 'my opinion is the only one that matters' and then firmly talks down anyone who dares to disagree.

I like both Andrew Marr and Nick Robinson and applaud their recent efforts to get Conservative government ministers to actually answer questions instead of deflect, confuse, waffle and lie. We live in a democracy, the government must be accountable and transparent and it is their job to get politicians to answer questions honestly. I am sick of hearing about poverty, social injustice and all issues really and have Boris Johnson and government spokespersons and ministers using positive spin and/or say that the government is spending £X amount. Of course, it always sounds a huge figure but doesn't address the issue of whether it is enough to help people sufficiently. It doesn't address the reality and is fundamentally manipulative and dishonest. I hope that whoever takes over from Andrew Marr has guts and teeth. Especially as Dorries is taking a threatening stance towards the BBC and Channel 4.

I have grown to really dislike the BBC and always prefer Sky news. Trevor Phillips is excellent as was Sophie Ridge. Cathy Newman would be good too. I loved Andrew Neil in This Week? (Not sure of programme title). Miss the incisive and challenging questioning.

The whole of the BBC could shut down for me .Its gone from being a balanced media outlet to one of just opinions of the presenters with little or no understanding of issues

I don't know who will replace him but I know one thing - if political interviewers didn't interrupt and talk over politicians the viewers wouldn't get a debate, they'd get a party lecture.

Susieq62 Sun 21-Nov-21 14:35:01

As I never turn tv on until 9pm I am not that bothered. I don’t get time to watch morning tv on any say! Am I missing out%??

Patsy70 Sun 21-Nov-21 15:22:15

I agree sundowngirl. We turn James O’Brien off at 10am, as he is so smug and self opinionated. A heavyweight like Andrew Neil would be a good replacement for Andrew Marr.

Pleased he is going. Never a fan of his style of interviewing and could never understand how he was able to hold onto that Sunday morning show for so long. I purposely never watch anything he is part of so will be glad to see him gone.

If you never watch him how do you know what his style of interviewing is?

Exactly. I don't understand why people don't want politicians to answer the question.

The Andrew Marr hour was the only programme that would get me out of bed at nine am on a sunday morning. Not a fan of Laura K so that's another breakfast programme off my list
Haven't we already lost * BBC* Breakfast Louise Minchin ?. Whose next sad

Oh I couldn't stand Louise Minchin, simpering and giggling. So annoying.

Exactly the opposite of GB news which is going nowhere Ug

I've put it on a few times to see what it was like. They seem to go on about vaccines all the time or maybe I've just been unfortunate when I've put it on.

Nannashirlz Sun 21-Nov-21 15:59:11

I actually like GBnews which is going from strength to strength it’s only one that’s actually saying how many ppl are coming into our country via a dingy

theworriedwell Sun 21-Nov-21 16:02:50

It really isn't, the number of people arriving is being reported pretty well every day on all the channels.

Alegrias1 Sun 21-Nov-21 16:04:02

Apart from the BBC, maybe.

Or Channel 4.

There’s a good debate going on at the moment discussing ^covid race bias. Led by a black woman with a mixed race and white man as guests.

theworriedwell Sun 21-Nov-21 16:40:00

I can't watch now, DH and GS watching something but all I've heard them going on about was vaccines.

MarjieM Sun 21-Nov-21 17:19:59

I’m completely indifferent. As far as I’m concerned he’s just yet another BBC member of the news team, who thinks his voice and opinions are more influential than they actually are.

MerylStreep Sun 21-Nov-21 17:27:43

Ok worriedwell if that’s all you see/hear, then that’s all you see/hear.
I’m watching a debate on social care.

Where do I find LBC? Is it television or radio? I’ve never watched/listened to it, but lots of people say it’s very good. It’s time I started I think.

Here you go. Have a listen.

www.globalplayer.com/live/lbcnews/uk/

that's the news channel, not the main one with the presenters, interviews and call-ins, that we have been discussing.
see my previous link for the main lbc channel.
also available on freeview, dab radio etc.

FannyCornforth Sun 21-Nov-21 18:01:28

Yes, there is LBC ‘proper’ and LBC rolling news.
I’ve never actually listened to the latter.

Riverwalk Sun 21-Nov-21 18:15:32

I'm still a Radio 4 fan and that's my go-to station, but in the early hours, from 04.00, sometimes tune in to LBC London to hear Steve Allen for a while, then Radio 4, then Nick Ferrari on LBC London after the 08.00 news for the main political interview. That's the slot when the political players do the rounds of the studios.

As far as I understand, LBC London & LBC are both available nationally.

welbeck Sun 21-Nov-21 19:24:06

those are just the options you pick for the best reception, or whatever it is called online, depending on whether you are in london or not.
there is no lbc london as a station.
it is a national broadcaster.
with two streams, the main lbc. also lbc news, which supplies the news for the main station, and continues with rolling news 24/7. it's just information, not entertainment.

The BBC has been trying its hardest to achieve a balance in its reporting. People complain that it is too right wing or too left wing so it is probably somewhere in the middle.

To my mind they've been trying too hard, particularly during the post referendum period when they had a limited supply of politicians and business people who would appear on the politics programs. That's why the likes of Mark Francois, Tim Martin, Farage and Richard Tice appeared so often.

They've also had the government hanging over them, trying to install the likes of Paul Dacre (who has now said he won't re-apply) as head of Ofcom.
