I haven’t broken the rules. I didn’t see my brother last Christmas and now won’t ever again.

That's very sad, Libman. My condolences for your loss. flowers

'Can we all honestly say we haven't broken or 'bent' the rules a bit'????

I can honestly say I haven't - and wouldn't!

(Please don't judge others by your own standards.)

According to some media outlets his 6 week old baby has been quite poorly with Covid.

Maybe that's why he'd been out of sight and then when in sight rather emotional.

I didn't vote for him and wouldn't but all this pile on is unedifying and dangerous.

All the more reason not to remove covid restrictions then if babies can be badly affected by it.

so that is where he was

Interesting comments at the end of that article

Damn! Couldn’t read it without a subscription. And yet he still lifts the restrictions, which I believe is just to gain popularity and appease the backbenchers (and some on the front). Is it a case of my baby’s on the mend now, sod everyone else?

Thanks!

That is an unpleasant thing to say.
I do not believe Boris Johnson has lifted restrictions in a bid to gain popularity. He has suffered covid himself and it has affected his baby daughter; he knows the consequences.
The restrictions are being removed in an effort to help Britain return gradually to a more normal way of life; if he kept the restrictions in place he would then be attacked by most of Fleet Street for prioritising self-preservation.

Germanshepherdsmum Thu 20-Jan-22 09:11:06

The timing is curious eazybee. Just when he’s in danger of losing his job.

FannyCornforth Thu 20-Jan-22 09:44:54

Eazybee and Shep
This is what happens when you are a devious, disreputable liar.
People expect you to be a devious, disreputable liar.

MaizieD Thu 20-Jan-22 09:51:23

I don't believe the story for a single moment, any more than I believed that he had covid really badly in April 2020.
It's beautifully convenient and designed to get him undeserved sympathy.

And if true, it was still no reason at all for him to self isolate.

This is like Cummings all over again.

Whitewavemark2 Thu 20-Jan-22 09:53:02

It seems that nothing that comes out if his mouth is true.

GillT57 Thu 20-Jan-22 10:05:46

This is what happens when you are a habitual liar like Johnson, even decent human beings such as MaisieD and WWMk2 disbelieve him when it is reported his new born child is ill. He makes everyone into the kind of people they don't want to be, he drags us all down to his level.

Germanshepherdsmum Thu 20-Jan-22 10:08:02

Even Tory voters.

Germanshepherdsmum

Even Tory voters.

In a way, it’s far worse for you lot (grin)
I can’t imagine how it feels to be a normal, decent Tory MP.
I can’t imagine that Wakefield will be the last to cross the floor

Bloody hell! Speak for yourself.

Not if you have principles and backbone. It seems I should presume you have neither.

I take your point gill, but I will never be dragged down to Johnson’s level.

This- it gets worse and worse.

BREAKING: Con MP William Wragg accuses No10 of intimidation & breaching ministerial code by threatening to withdraw money from constituencies/leak stories abt rebels. Urges them to go to Police/Parly authorities
"The reports of which I'm aware would seem to constitute blackmail”

Deedaa Thu 20-Jan-22 10:23:59

I wonder how the poor child caught it. They would surely be really careful with a new baby?

Germanshepherdsmum Thu 20-Jan-22 10:25:24

It doesn’t affect me that much Fanny because I didn’t want Boris to win the leadership election and I believe there are other decent people in the party. They’re not all like him.

Whitewavemark2 Thu 20-Jan-22 10:27:01

Oh and baggs your post would have been better to have ended after the first half of your sentence really. I agree with that but I cannot agree with your accusation, because people are sick and tired of Johnson’s lies and have got to the stage that they can’t believe anything at all that he says.

Parsley3 Thu 20-Jan-22 10:32:52

I wonder if the PM, or Mrs PM read the story of The Boy Who Cried Wolf to their children at bedtime.
