…was totally unbelievable. Why then do I believe every word of his blog regarding all the no.10 parties and non parties?

Anybody else convinced of the veracity of his most recent public utterance?

I don’t know how to do links but I’m sure someone will be along in a moment to assist. TIA

I think its all the lies Boris has told that are bringing him down, people are fed up with him misleading Parliament (£140 a week heating allowance which is per year, £325m on the bus for the NHS) this party lie is just the most convenient one to use to topple him

Well said jozory why should we believe Cummings now when we didn't believe him last year its bizarre. The media have had it in for boris since he won the election its shameful and it makes you question who is controlling the media

Are you content then that Johnson tells the truth, and has always told the truth.

Mollygo Wed 19-Jan-22 10:49:20

I don’t believe Boris always tell the truth, whether it’s a mistake or a deliberate lie, but I didn’t believe Cummings before and I can’t guarantee he’s telling the truth now.

katy1950 Wed 19-Jan-22 10:49:32

No I'm not convinced that boris has told the truth and I'm very disappointed with him and all the people involved but I think there are people behind the scenes that are manipulating the media and I think we should be very cautious at the moment

Grantanow Wed 19-Jan-22 10:53:49

We don't need Cummings or Sue Gray to tell us what already know. BJ has to go.

Casdon Wed 19-Jan-22 10:57:42

I don’t think the media are the issue katy1950, they are reporting on information which is being fed to them, nor do I believe that Cummings is acting alone with malevolent intent. There is something happening internally in the Tory party, and Boris has served his purpose.

Whitewavemark2 Wed 19-Jan-22 10:59:29

Tory MP: “Boris broke down in tears in front of several of us yesterday. He kept saying sorry. He knows he’s finished”.

polnan Wed 19-Jan-22 10:59:50

well said Casdon, summed it up for me!

I don’t know how any of us know that leave voters who supported Cummings are now not supporting him. Is it on Twitter? I don’t do Twitter.
I voted remain. I didn’t listen to Cummings then, and I wouldn’t listen to him now.I think he tells lies.

Those of us who have been on Gnet for the past 5 or 6 years know who voted Leave, Maddyone. We know who defended Cummings over his rule breaking trip to Durham; the two 'conditions' (leave voting and defending Cummings) pretty well correlated. And some of them are now screaming that Cummings is a liar.

Yes, those who voted Remain didn't believe the lies he orchestrated in the Leave campaign, we didn't believe his pathetic excuses for rule breaking, but now we have two liars pitted against each other, one who lies habitually, incessantly and without a moment's thought, the other who lies calculatedly to achieve an objective. The truth is in there somewhere and we have to search it out. At the ,moment the balance of probabilities sits with Cummings.

There are definitely more folks leaking information other than Mr. Cummings.

Mr. Johnson has definitely made errors of judgements and it is apparent that he is not friends with truth

Removing the PM will not make everything at No.10 bright and breezy, I can only hope that there is a plan and that it is a workable and sustainable one.

I just cannot bear Cummings, he makes my flesh creep. Weasel is the only word to describe him. I'm sure that there is some truth in what he's saying, but he's been proved to be such a hypocrite that I really don't care.

Annaram1 Wed 19-Jan-22 11:06:11

If it looks like a rat and acts like a rat it is a rat... Cummings is an ugly liar who probably envies Boris his hair.... IfBoris goes, who will replace him? I can't think of any better politician. Can you?

Twig14 Wed 19-Jan-22 11:11:10

Totally agree with Linclass. All as bad as one another. I also think it must be sorted as there are far more worrying things going on in the world at the moment. The man apologised but not the apology everyone wanted. Once the report from Susan G comes out then that’s the time to sort it all.

I have no axe to grind for either set of career politicians, who seem to change policies with the wind, and I can so understand why people who couldn’t be with their dying and elderly relatives are aggrieved, BUT,
if Downing Street staff were working in their offices in the building and not working at home like so many of us, does it make a ha’porth of difference if they were drinking a cup of tea indoors or a glass of wine in the garden? Or drinking from a bottle of beer along with their carry-out in a constituency office (was there actually any need for either lot to be in the “workplace” that they were in? Hardly essential workplace workers, any of them)
And at the end of the day, I stayed away from people because it seemed to be the sensible thing to do to avoid catching an infectious disease, not because some officials somewhere said I could or couldn’t do it, I was doing it for myself and my loved ones.

You're right, GG13 but, as you must know, I, and other posters on this forum, take it further. Removing Johnson makes no difference at all to the direction in which this government is travelling, the direction that most people seem to be resolutely shutting their eyes to. Johnson isn't leading this government at all, he's just fronting it. I don't think there is any successor capable of wrenching the tory party away from the hard right without actually destroying the party. No.10 shenanigans are the very least of the problems.

I think that those people behind the scenes who are manipulating the media were doing the same to bring about Brexit, and to get Boris elected. They have a long term plan. Much more likely to be right wing than left wing too, imo.

Jess20 Wed 19-Jan-22 11:15:11

Cummings wants to exert influence from wherever he is. Directly when an insider and now indirectly from outside the fold.

I do not disagree with you, I have said repeatedly that I find myself politically homeless at the moment. There are still some good Conservative MPs, they should now come forward and be counted.

I haven’t much faith in Mr. Starmer as I have absolutely no idea who is pulling his strings far too much going on in the background with momentum and the unions.

jaylucy Wed 19-Jan-22 11:25:55

Oh boy! Is this nasty, spiteful, arrogant little boy going for his pound of flesh!!!!
You could see this coming as soon as he lost his very well paid job that he would be dredging up all of the PMs misdemeanors big and small for years to come. I bet Boris is really, really pleased that he gave him the job and saw him as a supporter and probably a personal friend.
Don't get me wrong - BJ has done very wrong in both allowing the party to happen in what is to all intents and purposes his own back garden, let alone attend any of them but this poisonous man will never give up until he drags a few others down with him - I bet he used to creep around the halls of Westminster like an un wanted guest or Uriah Heap and no one actually likes him. If you believe what his ex student colleagues have said in the past, he is running true to form .

winterwhite Wed 19-Jan-22 11:27:54

They can't have it both ways about the No.10 garden.
If it was the prime minister's garden, it's surely inconceivable that anyone could have invited 100 people to drinks in it without his approval. And for the rest of us, when illicit parties in people's houses/gardens were raided by the police (remember?) the host was certainly fined as heavily as the guests.

tigger Wed 19-Jan-22 11:29:17

He should go now and get it over and done with.

FarNorth Wed 19-Jan-22 11:32:31

Ever heard of being a "grass"?
No-one believes they tell the truth at all times but they can give useful info.

Lilacwine Wed 19-Jan-22 11:33:59

"Revenge is a dish best served cold" and Cummings is serving with a ladle! What an obnoxious pair.

Framilode Wed 19-Jan-22 11:36:28

If Johnson had been honest from the start and apologised properly I think he might have got away with it. As always, it's the cover up that will probably do him in.
The Tory part is ruthless, he knows that, so why he thought he could get away with all the prevaricating and downright lying is beyond me.
I am not a Tory and I would prefer a damaged Johnson to linger on. I don't think that will happen though.
