Why no criticism of Carrie?

I’m boggled that anyone would think it a good idea to throw a large birthday party for someone who was not long out of ICU with Covid and when they had a newborn in the house.

Most new mums don’t even like anyone with a common-or-garden cold coming near their tiny baby.

He’s the PM, he sets the culture. The culture is one of not seeing rules or guidance as applying to number 10.

Of course spouses and partners influence people. It would be strange if they didn't. But I am certain that if I were PM my husband would know better than to organise a party and put me in a position where I would break my own rules, and am equally certain that if he were PM the same would apply.

In the end, it was up to Johnson to say no, and to break up all of the parties. He is in office, and his wife is not.

I think the policy is not to name junior ministers and civil servants, as it is assumed that they will often be 'acting under orders', or that they find it more difficult than senior ones to say no.

The only names so far are the Johnsons and the interior designer who Johnson couldn't remember if he's paid or not. his memory seems very dodgy for someone with such an important role.

We too were discussing the place of Ms Johnson in this latest episode of law breaking, and I read that during one of the garden parties she had several friends attending, complete disregard for the rules.

Before you report the thread M0nica perhaps we could shift the emphasis as to how Carrie will come out of all this. As I see it, it is a win win situation for her because Boris will never be flattened or be put quietly in a corner. She will carry on with her expensive tastes and her parties, maybe even as Lady Carrie of Camberwick Green or somewhere, so the man she chose probably suits her down to the ground and the children make it all complete.
Plus of course Dilyn the dog.
