On the clip I saw there were men shouting that Starmer was a Freemason (is he?) and others that he was 'betraying the working class'. I think the some Qanon stuff came into it as well. So a mix of alt left and alt right. Lots of different agendas, it seemed to me.

Said on Facebook that William Coleshill, a former Conservative councillor was the instigator but Piers Corbyn was there, too.

What I find worrying is how social media and the press whip people up. The endless comments from keyboards around the world. Causing people to be wrongly blamed, castigated, cancelled. People get worked up into a frenzy.

Apparently the mob today were in support of the Canadian truckers.

I don't know where it will end. I often wonder if people will decide against a career in politics. And then where will we be?

Well the buck stops with Boris it's been said on these threads in the past because he's the PM, all the deaths from Covid etc are all his fault. Well perhaps the buck stops with Starmer because like it or not he was in charge of the CPS at the time.

It's also interesting isnt it that those comments drag the focus to lies about Starmer rather than to the fact that yesterday he was mobbed on the street months after the death of David Amess.

There’s a huge difference between BJ attending functions and lying about being present (amongst other proven lies about personal involvement), and not having reported to you a case which was one in 900,000, which was dealt with at a regional level. As soon as KS was aware he made changes and publicly apologised on behalf of the CPS.

If I could think of one way to improve the quality of the debate on Gransnet it would be for posters to make the effort to find out the facts. Political disagreement is great, it’s what we are here for on these threads, but repeating lies about individuals is not OK.

If you look at the clip, it also shows how many people are affected, there is a woman there who I presume is part of Starmers team, she looks frightened, as does Starmer himself.

I'm not supporting anyone, and am pretty apolitical. I always like to consider the human aspect and how what is fair criticism of one can't be for another. If posters point something out that puzzles me, then I will chip in.
