I have just watched a woman being interviewed and she became quite upset as she attended a stop violence against women demo in Manchester and they were attacked by trans activists.

She explained that this was organised to follow International Woman’s Day and was about stopping violence against all women and girls. They had paint thrown on them and various other attacks. This poor lady was bewildered and upset, understandably, that trans activists could behave this way. I don’t understand it either and it does seem to me that some of these militant trans activists aren’t trans at all; they just hate women. It’s about time we all said enough!

Until these deleted posts, I’d had one deleted a good while ago

It’s been strange today, deleted almost as soon as they have been posted. Like many others, I’m wary of posting

People who abuse are incredibly manipulative and it needs to be acknowledged and any changes that affect safeguarding need to be considered carefully. That isn't transphobic, it is just being sensible.

I agree JaneJudge; I have a niece who is vulnerable and lives reasonably independently with support but there is always that concern with safeguarding.

GrannyGravy13, it certainly feels as though women on gransnet are being silenced.

I don't think it is ever fair to blame the admin on GN. They are just doing what they are paid for. It isn't personal and shouldn't be taken as such. I've had whole threads disappear.
The only thing I want to know is why does it always happen when I've gone off to do something else. I just have to try and imagine what's been said!

Dickens Thu 17-Mar-22 20:06:43

The activists are as you suggest Dickens, not representative of the wider trans communities.
The activists target feminist conferences and marches.
Feminists who express concerns about self ID and women only spaces are subject to abuse. My friends who were subject to death threats, including the threat to rape you to death had to leave social media for their own safety

That is what I thought. They are, in fact, a minority - but get a lot of press

Feminists who express concerns about self ID and women only spaces are subject to abuse. My friends who were subject to death threats, including the threat to rape you to death had to leave social media for their own safety

... those are the kind of incidents I read about.

But what's to be done? These aren't the types to sit round a table and discuss 'things'.

All the threats of rape, murder, violence, reflect the warped mind of the male misogynist. My instinctive feeling is that they want to enter the female world, not to be part of it, but to own it. They resent 'safe spaces / places' because it excludes them from having power over women.

... and trans women activists who want to 'rape to death' are not men identifying as women, they are men showing their true identity.

I actually feel more sorry for trans women - we are on to these activists, but the rest of the world us judging them by the actions of the minority. Who makes the headlines? Not the trans women, but the activists.

you are all very naughty women
know your place hmm

My current place is on the sofa with a glass of wine watching Great British Menu ?

Iam64 Thu 17-Mar-22 20:18:37

Good points Dickens, though I would say that because I agree. I like the way you conclude they want to enter the female world to own it. And yes the people who threaten to rape women to death aren’t women, they’re misogynistic men

Smileless2012 Thu 17-Mar-22 20:19:49

It's often the way though isn't it Dickens and I also feel sorry for those trans women who just want to get on with their lives.

These activists care nothing for them, they don't care if their actions turn public opinion against the vast majority of decent and kind trans women.

TBH trisher I've missed some of them but the ones I did see have left me wondering why they were deleted, and now we have respected and sensible posters worried about posting!!

Smileless2012 Thu 17-Mar-22 20:21:40

hmm "misogynistic men" is very polite compared to what I've been thinking Iam.

GN moderators are much like god they move in mysterious ways, but blaming one of them really isn't fair. And no one is above getting deleted.

Smileless2012 Thu 17-Mar-22 20:38:39

True enough but one wonders why, when you look at the guidelines and none seem to have been brokenconfused.

I have been on GN for four and a bit years, for the first time I am hesitant to post…

Smileless2012 Thu 17-Mar-22 20:50:05

I know what that's like GG and it's horrible but don't be put off.

Iam64 Thu 17-Mar-22 20:51:36

trisher of course no one is above being deleted. Today has seen a rash of deletions of people who don’t usually find them/ourselves in breach of guidelines.
Several including myself have said we are uneasy about posting as a result
It’s not healthy for debate to be shut down.

Callistemon21 Thu 17-Mar-22 21:02:35

If debate is closed down because reasonable posters are having posts deleted then we might as well all leave and join Ravelry.

Smileless2012 Thu 17-Mar-22 21:06:16

25 deletionsshock 5 of which referred to a post that had been deleted.
