Tories accuse Angela Raynor of "doing a Basic Instinct"

Totally outrageous, misogynistic so called news item in the dreaded DM today.

Senior Tories have accused Angela Raynor of distracting our buffoon Prime Minister by crossing and uncrossing her legs - à la Sharon Stone - in Prime Minister's question time.

Can they sink any lower???

Yet another disgusting example of the true mind sets of the guffawing Tories. They're a disgrace yet again.

Well said, Dickens. All that the BoJo - and his father for that matter -seem to be good at is shagging and producing more children.

BoJo is always visiting hospitals - maybe to appear to show that he appreciates the hard work of the doctors and nursing staff. But most NHS employees have worked his Government during the pandemic and seen who they really support.

As for the Mail on Sunday it is no surprise that they produce journalism that belongs in the gutter, along with their editor and all their staff.

Yes Volver, they would. You can’t go flying off the handle and not be a good speaker as PM, just fact. Could you see her on age world stage? Negotiating. Just because you don’t care for Boris, understandable, you can’t have someone like her. I don’t deny she comes from the school of hard knocks but she is far from a world player.

someone like her? okey dokey.

She was the senior official for Unison in the North West. She probably has enough negotiation skills to see her through. And proper leaders find the best person on their team to conduct each job. So, for instance, she might find somebody who knows the difference between the Baltic and the Balkans.

I have no particular fondness for Rayner, but I do get on the side of the person from an ordinary background when someone says they're not the right person for the job because they might be just a bit too common, what, what?

Yes they are. There are people who can't afford to turn on their kettles. Who can't afford to cook potatoes.

If you've paying for an education, you're well off.

Sorry, forgot to quote. That was for Joseanne

^But they are all well off. Their families have enough money from whatever source, to send them to private school^.
They are not ALL well off, neither are their families.

Yes, they are (or have well-off grandparents) - compared with the average. The majority of people don't have enough spare money to send their children to even the cheapest private school.

For those who are against paying for an education I would like to point out not all who attend private school are from Tory minded backgrounds. My GS is going to private school in September as the state school system has failed him. Years of battles with systems and Headteachers have pushed the whole family to pool resources for funding to give GS opportunity to flourish.

So what about the children whose parents also have battles with systems and headteachers, who seriously don't have the funds, even if the pool family resources? I guess they just have to lump it.

PS. I wouldn't wish any child not to flourish, but going to a private school won't guarantee that he/she will.

The rest of the World doesn't care about the British English class system

Exactly. So why bring the word "common" into it? Unless as I said it was meant as coarse?

MissAdventure Mon 25-Apr-22 16:45:09

We couldn't possibly have a coarse pm.
It's only ok to speak about spaffing up the wall in a posh way.

No, hang on a minute.

People have said she makes them cringe and doesn't have a good enough education to mix with world leaders on their own terms. Then someone answered my question about whether they might consider her too common with "yes they would."

Don't be blaming me for using the word!

Sorry to disappoint you but I read the Mail . So one anonymous person makes a comment and all Tories get a bad name ?

MissAdventure Mon 25-Apr-22 16:55:05

I think any bad names they have, they have rightfully earned, long before any comment.

lilydily9 Mon 25-Apr-22 17:09:21

I think the fact this Tory source has remained anonymous shows just the measure of him or her.

Zoejory Mon 25-Apr-22 17:16:39

The Mail on Sunday editor has been summoned. Good news. Be interesting to see who this MP actually is.

Good.
It's time this kind of thing was put firmly where it belongs - circa 1953 or thereabouts.

Amalegra Mon 25-Apr-22 17:24:21

Typical fodder for this grubby little newspaper! I have always been shocked that so many people seem to read it and give it any weight at all. This story should never have gone to print! With all the sleaze and accusations flying around about the Tories, and the media coming up with new tidbits every day, I sometimes wonder if there are sinister forces at work here. The population is tottering on the edge of being permanently shocked, outraged and disgusted, which is extremely destabilising for the Government and the country as a whole We are in a situation where a war is raging in Europe and peace on our continent is threatened for the first time since WW2. This is not just about Ukraine; it is also a confrontation by proxy between the West and Russia. And for the sake of democracy and our way of life, the West must succeed. Very convenient for Mr Putin that we seem to be tearing this country apart and right now there is no obvious successor to Johnson, despite a moral compass that in less dangerous would force his resignation.

Urmstongran Mon 25-Apr-22 17:29:14

“Sir Lindsay Hoyle calls meeting with Mail on Sunday editor over 'demeaning' Angela Rayner story” - headline in the Telegraph just now.

Grandmakath Mon 25-Apr-22 17:29:52

Revolting woman. Will she stop at nothing?

volver Mon 25-Apr-22 17:30:49

That's gone a bit off piste... ?

I don’t think she has a degree, has she? (Someone said she had.)

I admire her for professing so far in life from such a doubtful start, but I have to admit she makes me cringe too. I think the lack of education does show, and she lacks social graces, which do matter in a politician. I know some of the ostensibly well -educated ones, not least the PM, are utter oafs, but on the whole I prefer well-educated people to be in charge.

You don’t need to be ’well educated’ (what exactly does that mean?) or have a degree be honest, decent and knowledgeable.
In fact many supposedly ’well educated’ people have zero common sense. Not having a degree does not mean that a person is incapable of getting a degree, merely that they have chosen a different path to knowledge and experience

Aspen Mon 25-Apr-22 17:31:25

It has always amazed be that Johnson was President of the Oxford Union. He must be the worst orator in the House with his continual stuttering and repeating "Mr Speaker".
I am almost 80, left school at 15 and I would love take him on in debate if only I could work out what he is trying to say.

NotTooOld Mon 25-Apr-22 17:31:51

Well put, volver. I am no Rayner fan but I do admire the way she has progressed from a poor start in life to her current position. It takes guts to do what she has done.

Urmstongran Mon 25-Apr-22 17:35:52

And Keir Starmer does not know what a woman is so he is unable to comment.

Revolting woman. Will she stop at nothing?

What exactly do you mean?

varian Mon 25-Apr-22 17:55:04

I think she means that AR must have been doing the leg thing because Grandmakath believes everthing she reades in the Mail on Sunday
