TheodoraP - so, let's just say for the sake of argument, would you have a woman who had been raped forced to carry and give birth to her rapist's baby then? Making abortion illegal does not stop it - a desperate woman will resort to any measures if she feels driven to it. Is it not better that she has access to safe, legal methods instead of backstreet abortions?

Blondiescot I appreciate what you are saying totally but is it the baby's fault that he or she was conceived in that way, should the baby be punished by not be given a chance to live, what about children that have rapists as Fathers should they take the blame for their Fathers actions

It is quite interesting because we have had hundreds over the years who just turn up to discuss what is normally a contentious issue and they are usually from the far right politically. They turn up, create chaos for a bit then disappear.

No one has the right to tell a woman what to do with her womb or to take that human right away from her.

You have every right to choose for whatever reason or belief that you may have to decide not to have an abortion, but you don’t get to decide for any other woman.

Theodora, may I ask if you have ever known anyone whose baby was, at a late stage in pregnancy, diagnosed with a condition which meant they would only have a short and miserable life, unable to see, hear or communicate? That happened to a friend of mine who already had two healthy children. She and her husband were practising Christians and making the decision to have an abortion was devastating for them. I hope you have never had to make that decision. If you haven’t, try walking in the shoes of someone who has.
