Tory party members; choosing your next party leader and everyone's next PM, what, who, why?

Hopefully, this will not get too heated! If anyone on here is a member of the Tory party, and therefore responsible for electing the next leader of the party and thus PM, what qualities are you looking for? What will make you prefer one candidate over another? What negatives would discount a candidate for you?

Who ever they chose it's likely to be short lived. Labour are almost sure to try and force an early election from a vote of no confidence if they can find enough evidence. Even so it's less than two years to the next election May 2024. Two years in politics won't get much done. All Politicians lie, the power goes to their heads the higher up the ladder they get.

The last possible date for the next election is actually 25th January 2025 MaggsMcG, much as I’d like it to be sooner.

In my opinion every single one of them is tainted by their support of Boris Johnson whilst Partygate, Wallpapergate, Pilchergate etc were going on. The fact they have suddenly found a bit of backbone cuts no ice with me. The Tory party has been in power too long and we need a complete change otherwise two more years of this lot and this country really is well and truly stuffed!!!!

We are pretty stuffed at the moment

Latest news: Suella Braverman is out of the contest as she got the least number of votes in today's ballot. All remaining candidates gained votes on yesterday other than Tom Tugendhat who lost a few - he is most likely to crash out in the Monday ballot. There are supposed to be some tv debates between the candidates over the weekend so everyone will be able to get to know them a little better. Conservative Home is holding a hustings via Zoom at 1pm tomorrow if anyone is interested - its free but you need to sign up today and can submit a question for the candidates. I hope that Suella's support will switch to Kemi - she is a far better representative for the centre right of the party than Liz Truss who I expect to be shown up in any live debates, she is not a good speaker.

I heard an interview with Suella Braverman in which she described herself as " the only true Brexiter amongst the candidates" and disparage others for not being Brexity enough.

The deluded woman seemed to think that being ultra brexity was some kind of achievement.

Are we perhaps seeing the first green shoots of awareness amongst Tory MPs that Brexit is an utter disaster?

Listening to the Sky Paper Review and Henry Hill of Conservative Home said there is some concern among the relevant MPs that there will be no true right-winger going through to the last two. He suggests many machinations will follow today's result. Oh, and Penny Mordaunt is not seen as a true right-winger - but I'm not sure that's news to anyone.
