Why did she bother.? Must have cost squillions.

Iam64 Sat 30-Jul-22 08:32:51

Yes of course Chewbacca, I’m sure it was grim for both of them. Prolonged stress is bad but must be even more horrific in the public eye

JenniferEccles Sat 30-Jul-22 09:29:57

I suspect like most on here I’m not usually remotely interested in footballers’ wives and their attention seeking antics, but as others have said, this legal battle has been covered at length in the media, and it’s been a bit of light relief from all the usual doom and gloom.

There was only ever going to be one outcome wasn’t there ?

Rebecca Vardy’s reputation will be tarnished forever by this which I’m sure will bother her far more than the monetary cost.

I loved the Davy Jones locker comment ? ! Brilliant!

I wonder if the court case has had knock on ramifications within the footballers? Will it have polarised players and supporters and have a detrimental effect on the pitch? Mr V must be holding his head in his hands in shock.

Since I’m not remotely interested in ‘celebs’ I only really heard the ins and outs of this on the R4 news yesterday - it was more or less compulsory listening since we were in the car and dh is addicted to R4 news.

However it does seem that the right verdict was certainly reached. What a waste of money though - as usual the lawyers will be laughing all the way to the bank.

I was gobsmacked when I sat down to watch the lunchtime News and this nonsense was the opening story. So much going on in the world and this farcical story was headline news and discussed for several minutes.

Felt just the same and wondered why both ITV and BBC chose this nonsense as headline news, when there is so many real issues threatening the UK and the world right now. Why?

Jamie Vardy earns over £8m a year playing for Leicester, tax will take a good chunk of that, so his dear wife has just cost him a years wages, maybe more.

Which of course is less than a divorce would cost him if he didn’t support her!.

Chewbacca Sat 30-Jul-22 11:53:23

8 million???? For kicking a ball around a field??? shock

Yep, he does kick it into the net quite often though.

Chewbacca Sat 30-Jul-22 12:17:35

For 8 million I'd want it kicking through the eye of a needle!

TerriT Sat 30-Jul-22 13:17:19

Two air heads married to two footballers who are paid unbelievable sums to kick a ball. And from Wayne Rooney life choices he’s obviously not got a lot going on up top! So all four well matched I’d say and nothing any of them did or do in the future should be a surprise. The lawyers are overjoyed and the only ones with an atom of intelligence in my opinion. They will be encouraging an appeal for obvious reasons £££££ so stand by for the next round of entertainment from this quartet.

While this case was being heard I read somewhere that neither participant would be too bothered about the verdict because whichever one lost could easily recoup their losses by giving interviews to the press and media.
Really?

£3 million?

Skydancer Sat 30-Jul-22 16:42:08

Who actually cares?

Smileless2012 Sat 30-Jul-22 18:22:06

Not sure anyone's going to be chomping at the bit to interview Mrs. V. I mean what is there to ask apart from 'what made you take a case to court you had no hope of winning?'.

TillyTrotter Sat 30-Jul-22 18:29:51

My eyes water thinking that the amount of money thrown at this case could have gone to worthwhile charities.
If it had been me at loggerheads with my next door neighbour it would not even make the back page of our local newspaper.

M0nica Sat 30-Jul-22 18:54:45

TillyTrotter, Yes, the money they spent on the case could have been donated instead to charity, but I very much doubt whether it would have been donated to charity if the court case had not happened.

From what I have read the Vardy's may have to sell one of their homes in ordet to pay the legal costs of both themselves and Colleen Rooney. And there is no reason to think that Colleen Rooney had specific plans to donate the money to charity, until she had to set aside money in case she had to pay for legal costs.

TillyTrotter Sat 30-Jul-22 19:04:47

I expect their houses to be worth more than a million.
Possibly own more than one home.
They live in another universe to most of us don’t they?

Who actually cares?

A lot of people apparently. These two women have millions of followers on social media who avidly watch every detail of their lives.

Grannynannywanny Sat 30-Jul-22 19:28:09

Jamie Vardy earns over £8 million a year. I think it’s safe to say we’re not going see them queuing up at a food bank when their debts are paid.

Abitbarmy Sat 30-Jul-22 19:37:14

I have quite a bit of admiration for Colleen Rooney. She’s had to put up with an awful lot in the press and her husband’s infidelities etc. She appears to put family and her children first and it can’t have been easy. She’s made her own money along the way albeit because of who shes married to but she didn’t have to do it. I’m pleased Mrs Vardy lost her case, she obviously didn’t have the sense to realise what a mistake it was to take it to court and has been pretty much proven to be a liar.

Who are you to call people air heads??.... Colerne Rooney is definitely not an airhead....such a judgemental post....shame on you

Smileless2012 Sat 30-Jul-22 20:12:00

I've seen that too M0nica their much loved villa in Portugal. Mr. V's going to be none to pleased.

M0nica Sat 30-Jul-22 21:52:33

Colleen Rooney did all she could to settle out of court. She was forced into the court case by Rebekah Vardy. Settling out of court would have enabled Rebekah Vardy to make a gracefully and discrete admission of responsibility rather than being public named as a liar by the judge.

Rebekah Vardy is entirely responsible for the mess she is in, personally and financially.

Chewbacca Sat 30-Jul-22 22:12:39

I saw the Rooney's house being built and it's vast. Cost £20,000,000 and more is being spent on it now to beef up their security whilst he's away in the USA working. There are several other high profile footballers and cricketers in the same area, all around £5 to £6 million, but theirs is by far the biggest and most expensive.

MerylStreep Sat 30-Jul-22 22:18:26

A wit on tv has just said it’s time to call Bob Geldoff and Bono to form a Rebekah Aid, or a the very least a crowd funding page ?

TerriT Sat 30-Jul-22 23:11:57

Louisa53. We are all entitled to our opinion. They both act like air heads as far as I’m concerned so stand by my opinion. It bothers me not a jot you see my opinion as judgemental. That’s your opinion and you are entitled to it as I am to mine. Seems like no one is entitled to have an opinion theses days !
