Talk about extraordinary moments in history.....

Its obviously a good thing she has gone. But Boris is my choice because he is a family man, and will understand what families want. Mordaunt has no children. Sunak is the country's richest man but has not a drop of British blood.

The trouble with Sunak is that he has a nomdom wife, and if they're in Downing St the MSN will hound them till they're out. I think he has no idea of how ordinary people live

Are you actually being serious!

Scottiebear Sat 22-Oct-22 11:38:43

Think it will be Sunak. But can't believe Boris is in the mix. Unbelievable.

I am surprised that more publicity was given to the fact that Truss tried to impose her 'economic reforms' without consulting the Cabinet or the Bank of England. She was only the leader of the Conservative party, not the President of the UK!

Chocolatelovinggran Sat 22-Oct-22 11:48:19

Boris is a family man? Tell that to his ex wife(s) and dumped - when- pregnant mistress.

Dillonsgranma Sat 22-Oct-22 11:52:22

Come back Boris!

Dearknees1 Sat 22-Oct-22 11:55:54

The Tories need years out of office as Labour has had to sort themselves out, decide what they stand for, get rid of the Old Etonians, find some new young talent. Not sure I’d vote for them even then but if they completely transformed themselves who knows?!

Theoddbird Sat 22-Oct-22 11:56:31

She was set up to fall...have none of you realized that? I feel so sorry for her actually. So many nasty things said about her on places like this. Armchair politicians...always happy to run people down but I never ever read the good points about anyone. Standing down and admitting in front of the whole world that she could not do the job she had been elected to do took an amazing amount of courage. She did it with humility....

Mrs Sunak relinquished her nom dom status earlier this year

Really fed up of hearing how Boris won a thumping majority in 2019. Anyone up against Jeremy Corbyn would have romped home! Amazing how people forget about why they got rid of him! Smacks of desperation!! We really do need a GE

Mokeswife Sat 22-Oct-22 12:04:28

But please don't bring our status in the world any lower than it is by bringing Johnson back into power ?

The financial markets are already very nervous of Johnson returning. If the Tories are stupid enough to elect him they will be responsible for increases in mortgage rates, a falling pound and pension fund risks. Sunak is the only economically literate candidate. The comment above about his lack of 'British blood' is totally racist and disgusting.

fairfraise Sat 22-Oct-22 12:05:08

I didn't know that! GrannyGravy13

Treelover Sat 22-Oct-22 12:13:26

yeh...Blimey she's gone...carry on jeering.
she was aggressively pushed. Wasn't given a chance. She acted really fast to give assurances to everybody that their energy prices would be capped for two years. The pressures were enormous, we went into mourning for the queen for a couple of weeks as soon as she was elected. The tax cuts in the future didn't spook the market, her massive borrowing to pay for the energy bills did. Only John McDonnell wanted to be as generous.
Now we have austerity with Hunt and people are cheering.

And no she didn't cry as Thatcher and May did when they were pushed out. She was very dignified and strong considering the onslaught against her.
She gave too much to too many. Her class and sex let her down, now we have a multi-millionaire chancellor (Hunt recently sold his company for 15 million) as he makes 'eye watering' cuts to the poor. And everyone's baying for billionaire Sunak to step in. Even Johnson is on his way back from Caribbean holiday. So three highly privileged public schoolboys, two from Eton are back on top.

Nannabumble70 Sat 22-Oct-22 12:43:57

Only MPs can request a GE, so if you want this write to your MP.

ronib Sat 22-Oct-22 13:10:44

Anthony Seldon Gb news suggests Johnson is not the unity candidate and Liz Truss had exactly the right economic policies but needed to wait 2 years to implement them. My husband said she wasn’t going to be given 2 years, therefore the rush to push through now! The Blob struck. I don’t know who or what The Blob is but I wish it would go away and give ordinary hardworking families a chance.

nanna8 Sat 22-Oct-22 13:15:32

She was just a plant, was never going to stay there. That’s why she was smiling with relief that she had played her role. Machiavellian Machinations .

Hildagard Sat 22-Oct-22 13:20:36

Bring back Boris, remember he got us out of Europe!, got us through the pandemic, got us to be the first country with a vaccine !

marta74 Sat 22-Oct-22 13:21:50

I certainly did not feel sorry for her. She should not have applied for the role in the first place. She was totally out of her depth. She has made our country a laughing stock. Cannot believe they are saying the Liar Boris Johnson will be back .Unbelievable.

ronib Sat 22-Oct-22 13:25:49

But who planted and why? Monty Don it wasn’t….

GrammyGrammy Sat 22-Oct-22 13:37:12

Bring Boris Back!

Yes and with a huge pay packet!!

Former PMs don’t get pay or a pension. What they can do is claim up to £115,000 for their ‘expenses in carrying out public duties’.
Coincidentally, previous PMs claimed almost exactly that amount ( apart from Theresa May, who is still an MP, and claimed a mere £57,000)

I heard on the radio a couple of days ago that as long as an exPM has served at least 60 days they can claim a lifelong pension of £150,000 a year for life! Surely that can’t be right? Think I need to do some research.
