He probably wanted to support his wife but perhaps he should have stayed at home and Meghan could have gone with her Mum.

Staying out of the limelight, leading a quiet ordinary life is the only way forward because then the press, the paparazzi, will lose interest in them.

And yes, they have to earn a living unless they can live on investments of course, but fame brings its downsides and there must be other opportunities away from centre stage, cameras.

That he needs to move on. That there are 4 people in that family and that each one is important and has needs.
And give himself a long break from all the public engagements, interviews and book writing because it isn't helping anyone of them.

They are neither of them very important, have little to offer except their connection to royalty and that is waning. So why would journalists suddenly start pursuing them now?

I sincerely hope this episode wasn't a stunt and I don't think they would stoop so low, but someone in their train might just think it would vindicate H's determination to have extra security provided, at someone else's expense.

Amazing how many inaccuracies are being posted on this thread. So let's get things clear. The chase took place before the taxi driver was involved. High speed was not mentioned until the Mayor of New York brought it in. M&H had to transfer from their limo to a taxi in order to shake off the paps. One of the agencies who buy photos from the paps claims the paps were not dangerous In those famous words "Well they would wouldn't they".
They were certainly pursued and they had to use a taxi to escape. But of course they deserve all they get don't they.
Of course the increased activity of the paps might be related to the fact that H&M have been doing exactly what GN demanded, staying out of the news, which only makes photos of them more valuable. Can't win can they?

But this is the taxi that the paps photographed them in because the driver has given interviews standing next to his cab and it is the same taxi number

But it still makes absolutely no sense why they would transfer from a secure vehicle in a convoy to hail an insecure taxi? Why not wear seat belts? Why not enter/leave through a back or underground carpark entrance? Why walk in and out from the street? ... all of these are very basic body guarding issues

Surely most reliable security companies would have a VIP car service on speed dial and arrange to meet up to transfer vehicles ... or use a nearby hotel by going in the front door and out the back

It was these sort of cat and mouse games were what led to the death of Diana when she left a secure suite at the Ritz and called back an offduty (drunk) driver.

I've read that NYPD is requesting Harry's mobile phone footage so hopefully this will give more clarity

They had driven round in high security vehicles in convoy for some time. They were unable to shake the paps. They went to a police station. The police blocked the road and put them in a taxi, presumably in the hope that one taxi in NY looks just like another. The police cars drove off in another direction presumably to draw away some of the paps. A few still followed them.

Incidentally I think there are four in that marriage. Doria seems to be a permanent fixture.

The paparazzi agency is the same one Meghan contacts when she wants photos of her out hiking or whatever….

I don't think there has been a tv interview, award ceremony, chat show, or book where he hasn't mentioned Diana. And sadly always injecting pathos into these by dwelling on her role as a victim.

A photo agency that took pictures of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex during what the couple said was a dangerous car chase has refused to hand over the images to them.

Backgrid told BBC News it had rejected a legal demand to share all the material taken over several hours in New York City on Tuesday night.

The agency's lawyers said Americans had long ago rejected "royal prerogative".

The BBC has not independently verified the request from the Sussex legal team.
