RUBBISH Callistemon Scotland NEEDS immigrants as does England but we are much more welcoming to people who come here
As long as they're not English, presumably.
Bereavement wipes out everything

The government is proposing to offer failed asylum seekers £3000 if they agree to go to Rwanda. I don’t get it, because won’t offering money to go to another country encourage more ineligible people rather than less to come to the UK knowing they will be relocated, with £3k to start a new life, ultimately anywhere they choose?

I'm not silly.
As a newcomer?
you are very rude.
I think most of us are fed up with some of the the rants on here.

I would like the Home Office to work. For people to be processed quickly and humanely and begin being economically productive.
There is a new program being built. Then it has to be tested.
Knowing the home office that could take a while.
The top two nationalities of people arriving on boats are Afghanistan and Iran.
Am I imagining that somebody said that Afghans won't be sent to Rwanda?
So how about Iranians? Threads over the last few weeks have shown that people think that Iran is one of the worst regimes in the world (especially for gay people). Is it any wonder they want to emigrate? Most (especially younger) people in Iran are likely to speak some English. Canada, the US, Germany and Sweden have more Iranian immigrants than the UK, but a significant number have family in the UK. Why the hell would they want to go to Rwanda?

“My friend is from Tanzania and knows Rwanda well. She says it is green, vibrant and a great place to live now. If you are prepared to work there then you will do well.”
As long as you agree with the President and government policy it’s fine, disagreement is not tolerated.Stay in France then, problem solved.
France doesn't want them either. Why France anyway? Using that logic, every country would just send them back to the country they've just passed through.

It’s nothing to do with dividing society, it’s a huge problem affecting the whole of Europe.
We can’t be expected to accommodate everyone who fancies living here.
How many are we talking about?
Millions certainly.
I can’t understand why the people smugglers can’t be arrested. What they are doing is illegal so I just don’t understand why they are being allowed to get away with it.
Obviously it’s a very lucrative business for them so they won’t give up without a fight but surely they could be defeated.
I hope very much that the Rwanda plan works, although I wish there was a simpler, cheaper method to deter these migrants.
We're not expected to take millions. Other countries accept more.

Did anybody see the place they will be living in Rwanda? It was on TV last night. Absolutely beautiful, clean, light, spacious …. i would happily live there. Lots of people are choosing to go there on holiday now.

If it’s this wonderful, how is it a deterrent, which is what Sunak et al are claiming?
On the verbal promise re Afghans, it isn’t, obviously, in any way legally binding, and it’s restricted to those who are eligible to seek asylum through two very limited routes, which do come close to applying to all - or even most - of those who supported Britain’s forces and diplomats
Sorry, do NOT come close to, etc
Reading some comments on this thread and listening to Sunak gloating makes me so sad. The people - yes, people; human beings - trying to come here are fleeing war, oppression, violence and poverty. We, from the safety of our warm homes and democracy, talk about them as if they are nothing - just a problem to be got rid of. For Gods sake, where is the compassion! God forbid some of you ever need to seek refuge.
If the Labour Party are going to reverse it all anyway, why bother ? Just let those people come. Don’t think about ‘processing’ them, they are human beings, their past is another country, another life. Maybe ship out a few Brits to make room?

Who knew 🤔 and I thought they had crossed multiple countries and paid people smugglers thousands of Euros to reach their destination of choice.
Did anyone see the BBC footage of the boat leaving France on which the poor souls lost their lives yesterday? The police were outnumbered and the smugglers were between the migrants and the police with makeshift weapons.
The local Mayor said the reason the migrants all want to come to U.K. is our fault as we are far too welcoming
The number of Vietnamese migrants has increased by 17% from 2023. What I do know about the Vietnamese migrants is that they are used extensively in illegal cannabis growing.

A voice in the wilderness I'm afraid.
In the minds and hearts of many the people are infact not even people. They are migrants/ scroungers/ small boats/ them/ they/ young men who leave their families. On and on it goes.
There is no compassion. ( unless they are Ukrainians apparently)

Perhaps you should volunteer to be first to go. Then they could give your home to an asylum seeker, as some places appear to be doing. Sick of all of this, as are most of the country.
That Mayor in France got it right - we are too welcoming!
We should be looking after people already here, not taking anybody else at all in. If I cook a meal for 5 at the weekend, I often invite an elderly near neighbour. I can comfortably provide for 6. This notion that we should provide for everybody is crazy. Should I open my doors to the whole village even though most of them would get no food?

That's funny, but I won't explain why!

I wouldn’t want to live in France either, but come on! It’s not that bad.
Seriously tho, migrants can make a claim for asylum in Calais.
OK you say, they want to live in England.
The sheer idiocy of hundreds of people packing into an inflatable boat and risking lives in the Channel just goes on and on without end.It simply has to be stopped.
Wanting to live in England isn’t a good enough reason to look away and watch it continue to happen.
Watching the two armed French policemen being attacked by the smugglers with sticks was bemusing.
If they were intent on stopping the dangerous crossings where lives are being lost (including innocent children) they could just puncture the boat before anyone clambered aboard.
No attempts were made to arrest the smugglers.

My son has been saying that since day one! Puncture the boats - job done! 😉

Clearly they are not idiots .
A person takes that hideous risk because the alternative is worse. Some people need help to be given a better alternative.
How might we help to make other lands better places to live in and rear the children ?
It seems that staying in France is far more scary than getting into an overcrowded rubber dinghy and crossing the busiest shipping lane in the world. 🤣🤣🤣
