Netanyahu knows full well he is breaking many of the Ten Commandments and he has no intention of obeying them. Therefore he does not deserve to be called "a Jew".

The wiki article doesn't reference race: rather, culture, ethnicity, history, identity, both shared and differing beliefs, it says historically

Jews have always lived in the region we now refer to as Israel/Palestine.
Up until the second world war it was part of the Turkish Ottoman Empire and then passed into the control of the British.
Previous to this the three Abrahamic faiths had lived relatively peacefully side by side for centuries with Jews being very much a minority, as were Christians.
During the 19th century a group calling themselves Zionists began to see Israel as the natural homeland of the Jewish people and began to buy up plots of land and settle there.
After the British arrived (and wanted out very quickly) there were plans to hand over these lands to the Jewish settlers and promised to protect the interests of the Arabs, now called Palestinian people.
In the end the British handed the lands over to the Jewish settlers and reneged on their promise to the Palestinians.
We have been living with the results of this folly ever since.
This is a potted and simplified version but I wanted to make things a little clearer.
This war isn't about religion. It is about land.

I said in my previous post that Jews are not really a race, but rather more an ethnicity. When I spoke with my Jewish friend about this, even she struggled with the exact definition. Muslims and Christians clearly aren’t a race, we all know that, but Jewish people are slightly different. My Jewish friend eventually settled on an ethnicity. To be Jewish is bound up with religion but it’s not just about religion. It’s more than that. Many Jews are not religious at all. They may celebrate some of the mayor Jewish holidays, just as many people celebrate Christmas but have absolutely no Christian beliefs, and how many people buy Easter eggs but don’t even realise the significance of Easter to Christians? Easter is the most important event in the Christian calendar, but many people probably believe Christmas is the most important, simply because it’s a bigger festival.
To be Jewish must be an ethnicity I think because non religious Jews who don’t live in Israel still define themselves as Jewish.
In any case, Christians and Muslims also live in Israel as full Israeli citizens alongside Jewish people. Whilst most Israel citizens are Jewish, not all are.
For whatever reason, Jewish people appear to be the group subjected to much racism and persecution wherever they live or have lived.

Genetically, Jews are close to most people from the Middle East. There are also Christians with "Jewish" DNA - don't forget that Jesus was a Jew, as were many of the early Christian converts.

That was Philistia, Land of the Philistines but it was the Greeks who named the whole of the area Palestine, I think.

The Phoenicians were in the North-west.
