What is it that attracts racists, Islamaphobes, homophobes and general bigots to Nigel Farage?

I’ve pinched this question from James O’Brian. And to me it is obvious, - they are fascists - talking about replacing the police with paramilitaries and bringing back the death penalty as well as shoot f….g immigrants has huge echoes of 1930s Germany.

So why would you vote for him?

Why is that most of you people who support the left are always so smug & correct? There is nothing wrong in the opinion that we have too many migrants (illegals) coming across from France. France is a safe country. We haven’t got the infrastructure to support the influx of people coming across the channel,They are probably some of the nicest people on the planet, but we have enough homeless of our own to contend with. I don’t think for one minute that Nigel Farage is anything like Hitler, he’s pragmatic, & says it has it is.
People on here need to watch other sources of news apart from the mainstream news outlets like the BBC

What do you suggest we watch? GB News by any chance?

The publics favourite, beat the beeb hands down.

chestnut we have a right wing party for balance they are called the Tory party.

I don’t want a party that attracts the sort of people we witnessed on ch4.

They are disgusting.

That was a setup, an actor that has worked for channel 4

TBH I wish I could send a few people "on a course" as clearly they don't understand what racism is and why Farage is considered a racist. If they do understand and are still prepared to support Farage and Reform, then I think we are entitled to draw our own conclusions. No one as far I can see has at any time said they want uncontrolled immigration what we want is properly controlled immigration, the treatment of asylum seekers according to the law both UK and International (without having to change the law!) and for migrants to be assessed swiftly and humanely. Why the Conservative government has chosen to stop doing this and has relied on the "threat" of Rwanda is totally beyond me unless they intended to turn immigration into the election issue that it has become. Fortunately, I think it has completely rebounded on them but sadly it has meant many asylum seekers, who would have been granted asylum and could be working and contributing to society, have been left completely in limbo.

Here he is back in April campaigning. Was he acting then?

Freya see this proof WWM posted that he was active for Reform long before channel 4 revelations.

Well if that's the case,?? Then hopefully he will be protecuted.

And the man that was filmed in their headquarters? Was he an actor too?

Try watching GB news to balance up the left wing BBC.

westendgirl Sat 29-Jun-24 12:00:39

Freya, why is Channel 4 "odious "?
I often watch their new coverage, and other programmes of course and have never found them "odious ". Just because Nigel Farage says it's not true you surely don't
believe him. I think little that he says is true. It is all done / said for effect and as long as he is centre of attention that's all that matters . He's another Trump . He would make an appalling M.P,going by his record as MEP.I haven't yet heard him say how he is going to achieve what he sets out in the "contract". A very silly and nasty man swayed by those even
sillier and nastier.

From your comments I am beginning to doubt that you watch the news of any colour.

I think that we can all agree unless of course you have the mindset of Trump, that it was not a set up that what we saw it was in fact a small percentage and reflection of the type of supporters Farage attracts.

What about the Labour Party members kicked out by Kier Starmer, for racist comments?

Foxie, I'm absolutely sure thats why Sunak called the election when he did. If he had been confident about Rwanda working, after all the effort he out in, he had no need to call a halt.

He knew it wasn't going to work - even if Rwanda had taken a relatively small number at enormous expense, that still left thousands of unprocessed migrants building up with effectively no plan whatsoever.

Well whatabout it?

Racist bigots exist - in the LP too.

Starmer kicked them out.

Without trying to defend them, or pretend they were actors.

What more is there to say?

Foxie IMO, this is precisely why the government has stopped processing asylum claims, and what a ridiculous thing to do. Even if the Rwanda plan was going to work (which it isn’t) only a few hundred people would be deported, so all those already here would still need their claims to be processed.

The government has deliberately ignored this in order to inflame the so-called ‘immigration problem’ - if it is a ‘problem’ it’s one of the government’s making.

'I was set-up, it's as simple as that, the guy was laughing and joking with it all the time. "

"A Reform UK canvasser who used a racial slur against Rishi Sunak has called himself a "total fool" and said he has learned his lesson."

Channel 4 comments:

"We met Mr Parker for the first time at Reform UK party headquarters, where he was a Reform party canvasser.

"We did not pay the Reform UK canvasser or anyone else in this report. Mr Parker was not known to Channel 4 News and was filmed covertly via the undercover operation."

The broadcaster's investigation also caught another canvasser describing the Pride flag as "degenerate" and suggesting members of the LGBT community are paedophiles.

Because Starmer has always used the words "Safe Countries"so when Rishi Sunak mocked him for planning to “sit down with the ayatollahs” to negotiate return agreements it was just a weak attempt to point score.

Perhaps more important is to ask the question why the government has halted any asylum processing due to government’s Rwanda policy

That's months of doing nothing.

I asked the question why another poster derided Farage’s solution as nonsense against Starmers statement to return them to safe or their home countries and Sunak point scoring or not was right to call him out on how he was going to achieve that. Wether he always uses the words safe countries or not he has made a statement and has been called out on it.

LizzieDrip Sat 29-Jun-24 13:36:12

Farage is moving ever closer to Trump territory, where every challenge or interrogation is seen as a conspiracy against him - even to the point where Trump denied the democratic will of the American people. His supporters still refer to him as President Trump!

At the moment we can, perhaps, dismiss Farage as an irrelevant little no-mark but …
given further power i.e. a seat in the HoC, he could become a danger to democracy. He’ll certainly be a thorn in the side of democracy!

Anyone with any intelligence would ask themselves why would he put on a different accent and why out of all the volunteers Channel 4 picked him to follow that day. Even an idiot surely can see it was a set up.

tinaf1 many asylum seekers from Afghanistan supported the US or UK. They couldn’t get out safely because of the haste withdrawal. Starmer knows he can’t negotiate with the Taliban
It may not fit your world view but safe refuge for people fleeing wars is the legal response - not to mention ethics or morals

I am quite aware of the plight of Afghans who have supported the US & UK also the plight of ordinary Afghans especially women thanks very much. So don’t assume to know what fits in my world view until you know what my views on asylum seekers are which you don’t.
