Hezbollah Exploding Pagers!

9 dead (so far) up to 3,000 Hezbollah operatives injured across Lebanon and Syria.

Apparently the pagers were manufactured in TaiWan and packed with explosives. The Taiwanese producers are vehemently denying this.

Israeli Government is being rather quiet, no statement so far. Hezbollah have said that there will be serious repercussions

It is like a plot from a Johnny English film…

those who seem to be applauding this event; how would you feel if your sister, daughter, GC, was choosing tomatoes in the market when one of these went off beside them ?
an eye doctor on the news said he had never removed so many eyes in 25 years as he had to in the last 24 hours, and still there are more and more to do.

^I think it’s a brilliant idea. More power to their elbow.
I don’t care who manufactured them, it worked^

So you think killing and maiming innocent people going about their daily business a brilliant idea ?
Words fail. .

I know.
It really is horrid to talk about killing and maiming others in these terms.

I imagine that Putin and the Iranian regime will now be paying good money for this technology.
And this is a good thing?

M0nica Wed 18-Sept-24 17:03:05

A great many Israeli people are unhappy with the war cabinet - which is what the Israeli movement now have instead of a regular government.

But not enough to stop the current Israeli government being elected , and probably re-elected, if there was another election.

The same applies to Hamas.

People seem to have forgotten the horrors Hezbollah committed supporting Assad in the Syrian civil war.
It is estimated that 618,000 were killed.
That’s not forgetting the tens of thousands that had to leave everything behind when they had to leave their homeland.

I don’t think anyone supports Hezbollah.
But innocent bystanders were killed and maimed in these recent attacks which happened in crowded public places in many cases.

I cannot for the life of me comprehend some of these comments on here.

This is real life and real human beings. They have suffered hideous injuries. Can you imagine for one second if this had happened in a market place near you? Show a shred of compassion.

Another thing that puzzles me is what makes ( apparently) lay people experts on terrorism and the absolute mess that is the Middle East.

MissInterpreted Wed 18-Sept-24 17:20:49

I don't think anyone is forgetting those horrors, petra. It's perfectly possible to condemn all the atrocities Hezbollah have committed over the years while still expressing one's sympathy for innocent victims of the latest incidents. Yes, there is 'collateral damage' in all wars and conflicts, but that doesn't mean we should be dismissive of those caught up in them through no fault of their own.

Quite.

GrannyGravy13 Wed 18-Sept-24 17:32:56

I am no terrorism expert

I have enormous sympathy for all civilians of any age caught up in terrorists acts.

If the destroying of Hezbollahs means of communication, pits a halt to their terrorist activities, even temporarily it will save innocent lives.

As for Putin, Iran et al getting this technology, of course they already have the knowledge, no doubt the west and China as well.

Galaxy Wed 18-Sept-24 18:27:05

I have no sympathy for terrorists and am quite frightened of people who do. Its war and war against dangerous dangerous people.
Empathy and compassion will probably be the death of many more innocents.

Innocent bystanders? I think most of those injured were Hezbollah operatives as the devices went off in their hands.
Could well end up saving lives if Hezbollah back off a war with Israel.

Galaxy Wed 18-Sept-24 19:24:31

It's funny maybe I missed it but I don't remember any sad threads when Hezbollah were bombing children playing football.

David49 Wed 18-Sept-24 19:37:54

The problem is Hamas has not only got one weapon - propaganda, it is totally impotent fighting, it can only try to force international opinion the make Israel, give in, the more deaths the more propaganda.

Hamas seem to base their military communications in schools and hospitals to maximize the death toll of civilians, every one is a martyr to the cause of Palestine.
Of course Hamas don’t want “Palestinian” state at all, they want an Islamic state with them in charge

M0nica Wed 18-Sept-24 20:10:01

Innocent bystanders always get injured and killed in wars. Innocents like those young people at a music festival and the inhabitants of the settlements attacked last October and killed, raped and kidnapped. All the Gazans killed becauseHamas has its bases in schools, hospitals and blocks of flats.

It is the same in any and every war, conflict, insurgency, call it what you will.

mokryna Wed 18-Sept-24 20:21:15

It’s not only pagers but also radio devices. I have no comment to make, it has been said. Selfishly as they weren’t discovered what will they do about check in for fights,

It's funny because I don't remember anything other than sadness when people are hurt.

Depends which people eggplant it would be a better safer world without all the terrorist groups like Hezbollah.

Galaxy Wed 18-Sept-24 20:59:49

As I said that 'empathy' will get us all killed.

Babs03 Wed 18-Sept-24 21:06:53

Today were explosions caused by phones, and lap tops, as well as walkie talkies, apparently an ambulance using a walkie talkie was targeted, so it appears to be a bit more hit and miss than originally thought.

Oreo Wed 18-Sept-24 21:09:19

Maybe the driver was Hezbollah?
These devices were commissioned by Hezbollah and distributed to them.
Don’t waste your sympathy on them.

Terrorists or freedom fighters or insurgents or militia or armed forces or mercenaries or settlers?

Babs03 Wed 18-Sept-24 22:12:20

Well yesterday 80 innocent people were killed in Gaza again, as the death toll exceeds 40,000.
I think would be naive to expect that the Israeli government is extending greater care not to kill innocent people in Lebanon. Their present MO does not inspire one to believe this.

So true. Twelve children were killed.

I'm at a loss as to how so much barbarism is ongoing in the middle east. Arab against Arab is somehow seen differently when it's the Jewish race involved. Hundreds of thousands of people misplaced , murdered yet hardly a word. It's just when Jews fight back there is a clamour of indignation.

Think back to all the atrocities the western world has experienced over the last decades.

Were any of those perpetuated by Jewish terrorists? I dont think so.
