Darn! Late to the thread again, and have missed all the best posts as they have been silenced. Wasn't classic money laundering a Johnson era/Russian thing Sago?

Shocking news this morning. On the tv and in the papers.
(472 Posts)Apparently there are over one million migrants living here in the UK who have no right to be here.
600,000 of them are living in London. Just think about that huge number for a moment.
It equates to TEN football stadiums full to capacity in our capital city.
No wonder we’re broke. It’s dispiriting. Our borders are so leaky it’s not worth pretending any more that we have them.
What do you think about this newly released information?

Could the people who are so concerned about immigration explain why they don't appear to be enthusiastic about identity cards?
It is such an obvious starting point.
I’d LOVE us to have ID cards!
We have a little apartment in Málaga this’s past 20 years and always carry ours when we are out there. We have witnessed checks by the Guardia Civil occasionally. No problema!
Blair is a big advocate for the UK to have them, I’m with him on this.
GB news have reported many times when a boat has landed down south.

Welcome GN to the post truth era of alternative facts a.k.a. lies, where only those who agree with the inflammatory OP are allowed an opinion!
There seem to be various opinions on here
Not true LizzieDrip. And you know this.
I think a good debate, courteously held but robust, is a healthy was to discuss what’s in the news.

FGT I do not understand your logic. Why is, supposedly having a million illegal immigrants in this country the reason we have no growth.
Surely the opposite is true. With many of these illegal immigrants working in the black economy, almost definitely for well below the minimum wage, they are adding to the growth in the economy. As well as that they will not be going near te NHS except in emergencies and avoiding any contact with the authorities, they are the growth engine of the future.
perhaps we should encourage them.
I think that would only be possible if we start processing them properly and that is why I think identity documents should be mandatory
I would not mind the ID card system which works all over Europe and has done for decades.

I am sorry I didn't see the deleted post.
But yes, it is so weird, that the far Right who is constantly shouting about freedom of speech, really don't like it when it is the freedom to say what they don't want to hear.
Like the amazing Bishop too.
I’ve been out Claremont until just now. Not only did I not see the deleted post, I didn’t report it.
I have never reported anyone’s post. Ever. On any topic.
I prefer to discuss and debate.
Unlike some.

Again, the headlines give no source for us to read for ourselves. Ask yourselves, why not?
Nothing untoward.
Reason:
I read it this morning before I went out.
Couldn’t post a link because The Telegraph is behind a paywall.
I would cut & paste (have done it loads of times) but two days ago when I did that someone reported me and my Allison Pearson article excerpt got DELETED with a “infringes Copyright” message!
What??
Someone obviously didn’t like what Allison Pearson had to say on a subject!
Free speech?
I’m all for it. But not everyone on here IS. Who reports anonymously? Such a shame to do this.
It stymies healthy discussion.
FGT seems fairly consistent on freedom of speech, I monitor everyone on this issue

perhaps we should encourage them.
Careful, M0nica, some people may think you mean that! 😀
Yes, they might be adding to the economy but they aren't paying tax or NI and those who employ them are probably evading tax too.
The black economy is estimated at around £150 billion pa.
I think you might all stop bashing me now on ID cards, shutting debate down and reporting now you know my viewpoints.
Let’s move on.
I await what Whitewave has to say with interest.
Once she’s seen the cat. Hope it went well!
In the meantime …. Don't worry if you get a deportation order, this lovely firm can help you out!
We need to clamp down on companies like this, irregular migrants should go straight to the plane, no messing about.

I won't bash you, not even with my bus pass 😁
Even if we disagree.
I agree re identity cards btw although I never look good in these photos.

I think we need a leader somewhat like Trump who would send them back to where they came from.
Absolutely agree !
Good grief NO Thank you!!!
them
So who are the them?
Most of the population of the USA are immigrants or descendants of immigrants.
The deportation order law firm refers to those convicted of a crime.
Irregular migrants are sent for deportation only after an assessment of whether they are asylum seekers or not, which is a different matter. whats needed os to speed that process up.
Also, you can only be deported to a country that has agreed to accept.
You didn’t respond to my posts Wyllow.
I hope I’ve explained myself to your satisfaction because you inferred I was keeping something back.
I wasn’t. 😊
Just make sure all you migrant haters refuse to be treated by a migrant doctor nurse carer or dentist
Ok you re going to say ahh but they are legal migrants and I ll say ….so might these people be if they didn’t have to sit doing nothing for years while decisions are made
This country is built on migrants and don’t forget it
FGT may be best to migrate to USA I m sure Trump will keep you safe unless of course you are a woman a migrant a trans or a gay monger other things etc etc
among not monger 🤣
BlueBelle wanting to know who is entering the UK and have them go through the proper channels does not equate to being a migrant hater
Putting one’s head in the sand and ignoring the fact that we have people working in what are basically modern day slavery conditions, sex workers, servants, car washes, nail bars will not help anyone.
I find your post offensive.

Democratic Senator Jeff Merkley led the team of lawmakers to the site in the town of McAllen on Sunday.
He hit the headlines earlier this month when he was turned away from another facility housing some 1,500 boys in a disused Walmart store.
Speaking to CNN after the visit to Ursula, he said: "In wire-mesh, chain linked cages that are about 30x30 [feet], a lot of young folks put into them.
"I must say though, far fewer than I was here two weeks ago. I was told that buses full (of children) were taken away before I arrived.
This was from the BBC, June 2018.
Not sure how you explain this?

And here is the history of the cages:

DS works on maintaining the electrical supply in the south west. The company now recruits in the Philippines because they get no interest from the UK.
If you've lived in Third World countries and witnessed the appalling, gruelling poverty you could understand why they want to be here .
There are a few around here doing badly paid illegal work ( labouring and car washing ) and living in poor conditions -mattresses on garage floors .
I'm not saying that these migrants aren't a burden on our economy , but I do feel acutely sorry for them .
If you explored your DNA you'd probably be in for a shock .
I was talking to a lady today and she like Shirley Ballas has discovered that she's descended from an African slave .

Sensible post GrannyGravy.
We need calm, sensible discussion, decisions and actions by governments to tackle this enormous problem.
but I do feel acutely sorry for them.
Yes and we should feel ashamed that people are living like this in this country.
