Shocking news this morning. On the tv and in the papers.

Apparently there are over one million migrants living here in the UK who have no right to be here.

600,000 of them are living in London. Just think about that huge number for a moment.

It equates to TEN football stadiums full to capacity in our capital city.

No wonder we’re broke. It’s dispiriting. Our borders are so leaky it’s not worth pretending any more that we have them.

What do you think about this newly released information?

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Thu 23-Jan-25 16:51:15

I find your postvery offensive too BlueBelle but I’m not reporting it. You are obviously het up and venting.

This country needs Donald Trump.
God I wish he was our PM.

It most certainly does not.

Here is a screenshot of part of the article.

I cannot understand why ‘the boats’ were not arriving until 2018. If you look at statistics there were few people arriving in boats before that.

Free speech? I’m all for it. But not everyone on here IS. Who reports anonymously? Such a shame to do this. It stymies healthy discussion

Well FGT someone saw fit to report two of my posts on this thread - anonymously. Yes, such a shame.

Obviously not a believer in ‘free speech’!

I find nothing offensive about Bluebelles post. As for het up and venting. Pots calling kettles. At least she isn’t full of the hatred that some people on this forum are.

Oh come off it. With your courteous debate.

You like to fire something off and sit and watch.

You are consistently banging on about migrants, then go all weepy or nasty when some poor soul has the guts to fight back.

I agree.. Bluebelle is consistently compassionate

Spot on bee16B.

I wonder how long your post, and probably this one, will last when faced with the ‘believers in free speech’?

No doubt we’ll be deemed ‘offensive’!

I agree Casdon. I thoroughly dislike this sort of thread, started in ‘shock, horror, breaking news’ style intended to inflame, but with zero evidence to back up what is stated as ‘fact’. I do like to see and consider the evidence .

These inflammatory and inaccurate posts are getting irritating. Same people getting riled, making outrageous suggestions......blaming Starmer. I am out.

Doodledog Thu 23-Jan-25 18:32:25

Most of them are working in classic money laundering businesses.
This is not money that goes into the local economy.
Most of whom? Can someone please tell me how the author of the article knows how many people are here illegally when, by definition, they are not on anyone's books, not claiming anything and not using services? Then can they explain how they know where any money these people make goes?

Luckygirl3 Thu 23-Jan-25 18:36:07

I do not think Bluebelle's post is offensive.

So much of our economy and our health service is built on migrants and we are lucky to have them here.

And if any one of us were to try and enter the US as an immigrant we would have to face the immigration rules of their country - and would be disadvantaged if we were women or gay.

Would be interesting to see how long your own ancestors have been here GNs. We are all immigrants. It just depends on which era you count from from. Are there any historians on here today, who can help describe the ancestral migration patterns to this once empty of humans, icebound domain?

Maremia Thu 23-Jan-25 18:43:26

Must go back now and find Bluebelle's post.

Maremia Thu 23-Jan-25 18:44:47

And the problem was???????

I hope I’ve explained myself to your satisfaction because you inferred I was keeping something back.
I wasn’t. 😊

Sorry - not been on GN.

What I thought I had made clear I was asking for when I said "the source",

was the source of where Pearson and other journalists got their information from

You mentioned the source was a Thames Water Report so I expected a reference to that report so we could all read for ourselves and make our minds up as to the veracity to the methodology and statistics.

I didnt want a cut and paste Pearson because its an interpretation. (probably out on Yahoo tomorrow)

I think alluding to GN members being migrant haters is offensive.

We all know legal migrants are here and working in all of our services.

The article refers to migrants who have outstayed their visas and working illegally or those that have been trafficked and working under the radar.

FGS that’s three times you’re complaining about a deleted post or two when you know full well that for that to happen it must be against forum rules to have written whatever you did.It has zero to do with anyone reporting cos they don’t like free speech. And free speech is only free up to a point.

Do you really want to wade through a full 500 page report by Thames Water? You have more time on your hands than me😁

Oreo Thu 23-Jan-25 19:05:25

We all know there must be loads of illegal workers here as every country has them, but prob more here due to the UK not having identity cards.

No-one has to read 500 pages to check the methodology - there will be an indexed methodology section - better use of time than reading secondhand interpretations imo

Oreo Thu 23-Jan-25 19:14:08

Go for it valdali
I have better things to do.

I just checked. Only reported on GB News, LBC, Telegraph and Mail.

Speaks volumes.
