I have just listened to J D Vance’s speech in Munich today.

It was absolutely spot on, what a man!

Sorry Churchview our posts crossed.
Of course I only have my limited experience of working as a volunteer with asylum seekers, am sure there are many other ways of collecting the data.

Churchview

I don't.
These people know the answer to your question though.

Churchview, as many undocumented imigrants work and pay tax they could probably get some idea by looking at the numbers paying their emergency who don't transfer onto a normal code.

Undocumented immigrants are counted by the authorities as they enter a country then detained pending their case being heard. This happens as Mexicans enter the US through border control and in the UK as immigrants enter either by boat or plane etc. Very few enter without being processed in some way, very few try to enter in the back of a truck or under a truck to avoid being processed, the majority want to be processed so they get a chance to stay legally.
But because they haven't applied for the necessary documentation to enter the country they are called undocumented.

Ah, that makes sense. I thought these numbers were arrived at by measuring the amount of sewage in major cities, according to quoted reputable sources in The Telegraph.

I thought this was a serious situation?

Yet you are being sarcastic and flippant with this comment confused

Does one have to be an old poster to have strong views?

Talking of reporting for stalking and harassment is plainly ridiculous. There are hundreds of comments by Claremont on here and hardly any at all from Dorrain.
I suspect what you mean MaizieD is that you agree with the posts by one poster but not the other.

Nobody in Germany expects AfD to win. They don't expect to win either.

Pretty sure they'll come 2nd. But support for them is growing especially amongst the younger generations.

The world is changing. Politics is not as we used to know it.

This seems a true reflection of the voting there in today’s news.

Well, I would not have mentionned this- but as Trump clearly said this during his campaign, it shows the level he is operating at!

I really feel the tide is turning.

I do hope so

Babs03 Sun 16-Feb-25 11:48:18

Yes the tide is turning but this is not going to benefit most ordinary Americans and certainly not those outside the US except Russia.
So those who see this as a good thing are either part of Trump’s or Putin’s inner circle or have absolutely no idea about geopolitics.

Babs03 Sun 16-Feb-25 11:50:22

Then again it seems Trump as no idea about geopolitics either.

Marydoll

www.thenational.scot/news/24937742.scottish-campaigners-respond-jd-vances-buffer-zone-lie

This is from the National.
In a speech in Munich, Vance argued that Europe was shifting away from democratic values and claimed the “basic liberties of religious Britons, in particular” are under threat, as he used the Scottish Government’s law as an example.
He should at least get his facts right.

I hope you are correct marydoll but I found the article you posted both biased and misleading.
Either letters have been sent to residents, informing them they can be fined up to £10,000 for anything that constitutes silent praying (what ever that means). Or they haven't

The article didn't give any information about these follow up letters, but added to the confusion, by stating the info in the letters was not in the bill. I haven't read it (the letter or the bill).

People have spoken of letters and have explained wjat tje bill means according to them, so I would take them at their word.

But that doesn't answer the question, did the gov. or any gov authority send these letters or not?
From the little evidence (not an actual letter printed in any np or on line) I gleaned I believe residents have been given a cheats charter to inform on their neighbours.

One step closer to curtailing free speach.

If that is the case JDV speach wasn't incorrect at all.

If anyone can find good quality info I would be glad to read it.

Wyllow3 Sun 16-Feb-25 12:58:35

Totally bewildering post Namsnanny since there is no evidence at all of these "letters preventing praying

It's a Vance lie based on SM rumour.

Barleyfields Sun 16-Feb-25 13:13:53

If letters were sent out saying that people praying in their own homes were breaking the law, I’m sure we would have heard about it long ago from reliable sources.

Wyllow3 Sun 16-Feb-25 13:49:52

We most definitely would! Can imagine the furore.

AGAA4 Sun 16-Feb-25 13:58:36

Being fined for praying in your own home is hogwash and the sort of unverifiable rubbish that Vance spouts.

Lies of course. But sadly some will believe it.

P.S At least I'm ready to say openly that I intend to report a post. I don't sneak off and do it behind everyone's backs..

I didn’t report your post, why would I? I said what I thought in my own post on here directly to you.

Oreo Sun 16-Feb-25 14:24:18

Hard to believe that anyone silently praying or even audibly praying would be arrested.

OK, Trump allegedly ‘thinks outside the box’ and wants a new world order.

Here’s an idea.

Europe (including the UK) tell Trump et al to p* off. We form a European Army to protect ourselves against Putin’s future aggression.

We trade across Europe (there’s 28 countries) and we negotiate trade deals with China / Canada / India. So Trump can stick his tariffs where the sun don’t shine. Europe DOES NOT trade with the US. We’ll manage without Teslas!

In this new world order America no longer calls the shots because it ain’t putting any money in. So, we tell America to remove its military bases from European soil - immediately! We no longer need, or want, American protection!

If Trump wants a new world order… let’s give him one!

Yes!

Hard to believe that anyone silently praying or even audibly praying would be arrested.

The man who was arrested was only arrested because after lengthy attempts by the police to get him to leave, he refused.

Oreo Sun 16-Feb-25 14:39:57

Thanks Barley I will have to go read about this case.
