this continues an ongoing thread on Gaza

The O/P read (in part)

"Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the population of Gaza will be displaced to the south after his security cabinet approved an expanded military operation in the enclave that a minister described as a plan to “conquer” the territory.

The vote on Sunday came hours after the military said it would mobilize tens of thousands of reservists, strengthening its capacity to operate in the besieged Palestinian territory.

“One thing will be clear: there will be no in-and-out,” Netanyahu said in a Monday video message posted on X. “We’ll call up reserves to come, hold territory — we’re not going to enter and then exit the area, only to carry out raids afterward. That’s not the plan. The intention is the opposite.”

We now have the aid crisis at the focus of world wide attention.

Polygyny is law in Palestine ,

To be more specific, it in not "law" but is legal and allowed by law with about 20% of Muslims practicing the Quoran obeying the strict laws of polygamous marriages.

I suspect you are not Muslim so you might not have understanding of this simple, yet foreign (to you) family and social structure.

If you were born into a different family, you might shed a different light or dark opinion and not just throw out a random statement void of opinion for debate or discussion

Curious perhaps?

Women need to step up and take over and put these men in a deep dark inescapable hole.

If you’re talking about hamas then I agree.

Thanks. The trouble is that there is such little trust. But let’s hope for the best.

Its not lack of trust. Its a lack of women in leadership positions..Men are utterly stupid insane and a detriment to all of humanity.

What a ridiculous comment.

Anniebach Fri 30-May-25 08:30:04

Apologies for saying Polygyny was law in Palestine , ment ‘is legal’

Anniebach Fri 30-May-25 08:34:04

Golds Meir was PM in Israel in the 70’s

Maremia Fri 30-May-25 08:41:32

Headline article just now for those who can access BBC online, 'Gaza subjected to forced starvation, top UN official tells the BBC'

Anniebach Fri 30-May-25 09:14:55

And a Hamas official said they reject the ceasefire because it fails their core demands, they will continue to study the reports

Whitewavemark2 Fri 30-May-25 09:32:14

How on earth can trust be built sufficiently for there to be a permanent ceasefire, when Israel has declared to the world that it is encouraging at least 22 illegal settlements in the West Bank, which means theft of land from Palestinian/Arab farmers whose lives and families depend on this land, and to whom this land belongs.

Israel will never agree to a 2 nation agreement, and will not be satisfied until every Palestinian/Arab is driven from both Gaza and the West Bank.

What Israel is doing is utterly unconscionable and it’s behaviour has put it beyond the limit of where civilised countries draw the line, who cannot possibly support their theft and violence.

Anniebach Fri 30-May-25 09:44:03

Can Israel trust Hamas who has declared they will kill all
Jews , and following their vile attack in Israel,

AGAA4 Fri 30-May-25 10:16:00

Israel's security minister Ben-Gvir has said that now that Hamas have said the proposals don't meet their demands Israel can go in with "full force" and kill every single Hamas.

This will mean more innocent lives lost.

Oreo Fri 30-May-25 10:23:27

There is no trust, not between Israel and hamas, the concept is laughable.
It’s not about trust in any case it’s about negotiating to get innocent hostages back and getting what’s left of hamas to step down and accept their reign of terror is over.

silverlining48 Fri 30-May-25 10:25:02

Annie you repeatedly return to Hamas attack nearly 2 years ago which killed 1000 but never a mention about Israel’s subsequent vile attacks which are up to 60,000 and counting. You must know in your heart that the current Israeli government under Netanyahu have no wish at all to see a two state solution, never have, and their plan is to take over Palistine wholly and completely by getting rid, in whatever way they choose, of the people whose land they have been stealing for decades.

Oreo Fri 30-May-25 10:29:33

It has no bearing on the case that the over a thousand murders ( let’s call it by the right name rather than ‘attack’) took place in 2023.
Deliberate cold bloodied murders and rapes.

Oreo Fri 30-May-25 10:30:49

Since its what started what we have now, it seems reasonable to repeatedly return to it.

silverlining48 Fri 30-May-25 10:39:37

As for Hamas’ core demands, quite reasonably they want a permanent ceasefire, not one that lasts for just a few weeks.
As has been said more than once. there was an agreement between Israel and Hamas to return hostages in March. Instead Israel chose to ignore that agreement and increased the attacks on palistinians which has continued unrelentingly ever since.

silverlining48 Fri 30-May-25 10:42:32

There are none so blind as those who will not see.

AGAA4 Fri 30-May-25 10:46:42

I agree that Israel and Hamas will never live side by side in peace.
My wish for the hostages to be returned to their families, all the killing to stop, plenty of aid getting through to those who need it is just an impossible dream.

The favourite quote from those who wish those with a different viewpoint would agree with them.

Deliberate cold bloodied murders and rapes.

Locking people in their homes and setting fire to them, taking
baby , a toddler with their mother hostage then killing them,
having their father/husband hostage, stand on a stage with red
cross workers and being mocked by vast crowds of Palestinians,
telling the world how he was so waiting to see his family again,
they must have enjoyed the mocking and the murders

There’s nothing reasonable about hamas or their demands.

Maremia Fri 30-May-25 10:57:28

And what is 'reasonable' about the way Netanyahu is dealing with this genocide?

Anniebach Fri 30-May-25 10:59:22

Terrorists who raped children, beheaded innocent people ,
who declared they will wipe people of one faith from earth

These are reasonable

Maremia Fri 30-May-25 11:01:18

Who said Hamas was reasonable? People on both sides of a war can be evil.

silverlining48 Fri 30-May-25 11:59:31

Annie all these claims about raping and beheading babies has been checked and accepted is just not true, not because I say so, yet you constantly repeat this as truth, and it isn’t.

Oreo if you think there is nothing reasonable about Hamas requesting a permanent cease fire then there really is nothing more to say.

AGAA4 Fri 30-May-25 12:21:03

I don't think Netanyahu and certainly Ben Gvir want a ceasefire. They want to rid the whole of Gaza of Hamas and if that means the death of all Palestinians then so be it. I can't see any other way they can kill all of Hamas.
Netanyahu's government has not been good for Israel.
