It is very difficult to understand what is really happening and what are lies being perpetrated by Israel or Hamas. Add to this reporting restrictions and it is surprising we know as much as we do.

Caleo Sat 26-Jul-25 11:56:23

I am not cynical just realistic as was Annie's reply.

Maremia Sat 26-Jul-25 12:25:23

Just reading your post again AGAA4, yes, I think we should push for statehood. Right time? Wrong time? Might make it worse? Worse than children starving to death?
But, hey, it might make it better.

Wyllow3 Sat 26-Jul-25 12:27:54

That's my choice of words on the banner - Statehood, Maremia, because it's the key overall need.

Wyllow3 Sat 26-Jul-25 12:29:08

Just (unrepeatable word) 70 odd years too late

Wyllow3 Sat 26-Jul-25 12:30:18

And it was "our" protectorate, too.
The shadows of our Empire are long and shameful.

This conversation is getting seriously weird and unpleasant.

It only takes one poster.

Maremia Sat 26-Jul-25 12:37:34

Words can be so important.

Presumably recognising Palestine as a state means recognising that a group of people have a right to exist freely.

In reality, though, what does that actually mean, given that something like 80% of the buildings and infrastructure have been completely destroyed? The whole of Gaza seems to be covered in rubble. Who is going to re-build all this devastation, where and on what terms? Leaders across the world are getting very nervous now because they have stood by and allowed this to happen without any steps being taken to prevent this catastrophe, and they have even provided military assistance.

Words can be so important.

Actions speak louder than words.

Hamas is winning the game

The 'game' - again such a vile and appalling comment.

I'm hoping Starmer's plan to evacuate seriously ill children in Gaza to the UK will be allowed.
If Israel refuse that will be another stain on them.
That's great plan. That plan is like when hi-jackers release selected hostages who are more trouble than they are worth.

Moreover it is to Hamas's advantage that babies are saved , as Hamas want to inherit a few young and healthy Gazans.

Surely save the adults who will procreate healthy Palestinians

And this is even viler. I posted a video some time ago that says the same thing. Every child has to be killed, because they are the future terrorists and 'suck it from their mother's milk'. Just vile of the vilest.

Wyllow3 Sat 26-Jul-25 13:28:06

Best to walk on by.

Wyllow3 Sat 26-Jul-25 13:28:43

Since it's been a circular argument made many times?

Claremont Sat 26-Jul-25 13:37:23

Walk on by a genocide. NO, I will NOT.

Here is that link again - they suck it from their mother's milk

viles of the vilest.

silverlining48 Sat 26-Jul-25 13:45:27

Yes vile, but perhaps best ignored.

Getting my threads a bit out of synch so may have mentioned this before,
Does anyone know how sympathetic the Conservative Friends of Israel and the Labour Friends of Israel might be to getting the proper aid into Gaza?

It is tragic and heartbreaking to see the resumption of hostilities in Gaza.

Our thoughts are with both the Israeli hostages imprisoned by Hamas and their families, and with innocent Palestinian civilians in Gaza.

Over the past two weeks, Hamas has rejected two concrete hostage deal proposals which would have further extended the ceasefire. It is imperative that this terror group – which has menaced Gaza for 18 years and murdered Israelis for three decades – plays no future role in the governance of Gaza.

Israel must ensure that humanitarian aid can flow freely into Gaza.

Diplomatic efforts to reinstate the ceasefire, ensure the immediate release of all Israeli hostages, and bring about a permanent end to the conflict must be urgently accelerated

Yes it's vile. The Nazis did it . Herod did it in Bethlehem.

The Massacre (or Slaughter) of the Innocents is a story recounted in the Nativity narrative of the Gospel of Matthew (2:16–18) in which Herod the Great, king of Judea, orders the execution of all male children who are two years old and under in the vicinity of Bethlehem.[2] Modern scholarship finds no evidence that it happened outside the passages in Matthew, though it is congruous with Herod's character.[3][4]

I don't think this has anything to do with Gaza. Herod, in the story, was hoping that by killing all baby boys he would kill Jesus.
The only way this equates is that Israel by killing all Palestinians may kill some Hamas.

I'm looking for the right words to write in a letter to everyone I can think off on the situation now, can someone give me an up to date one, please: I cant make it to demonstrations even tho I intended to today, and it would really help? Thank you to anyone that can.
