Anyone else impressed by Danny Kruger?

I think he’s wonderful. A breath of fresh air in politics. Has such gravitas. Well spoken and measured MP who left the Tories and has defected to Reform. (Son of Prue Leith).

I see him as a PM in waiting to be honest. Won’t happen of course - but I am very impressed by him.

As I said upthread, LibDems have the seat in their sights for 2029. Reform is waning in the polls. People who care about democracy need to do what the people of Caerphilly did last week and vote to keep these people out of government. My gut feeling is that either Farage will be gone by 2029, either abroad or to jail. But he and Kruger will fall out long before that.

Google says he is an evangelical Christian.
Against assisted suicide.
For increased immigration control.

Isn’t he the one who has strong anti abortion views? If so no thanks, not for me.

But his only claim to fame is being Prue Leith's son.

Keep your eyes on Reform defector Danny Kruger

And? Many many feminists I follow are against the decriminalisation of abortion at full term, it doesn't mean they are maga or fascists. I can cope with people who hold different views to me on abortion. In fact I agree with him on his vote in 2025, I also had many concerns about the abortion pill provision at home.

There are many evangelical Christians in the UK, and many, including MP’s who are against assisted suicide too. Most people are wanting more control of immigration.

I don’t think support for Reform is waning at all.Caerphilly isn’t a typical example as Welsh people wanted Labour out and Plaid Cymru is of course very Wales centred.

It is according to YouGov's latest poll on voting intentions. Gone down to 27% - meaning 73% don't want them.

Meantime Greens have gone from 8% to 17% overall and a big leap to 39% among younger voters.

We’ll see in four years time won’t we? If we and the world are still here🤪

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Tue 28-Oct-25 19:17:39

What was Labour’s majority again? Erm … 20% or thereabouts?
From what I’m hearing (admittedly anecdotal) there’s a good degree of buyer’s remorse right now.

Well, perhaps being an MP helps
😁

I think if any MP defects to another party, they should stand for re-election.

This is not what the people of East Wiltshire voted for.

Whitewavemark2 Tue 28-Oct-25 19:30:55

He represents nothing that I can identify with.

I thought him rather odd the few times I have listened to him.

Do people actually know what their policies are?

Precisely. He has specifically said he would not give his constituents this opportunity.

FGT2 you've drawn me back into commenting on N&P when I promised myself I wouldn't smile

I am not impressed by Kruger at all. He is another privileged (now ex-) Tory who thinks he's born to rule - not unlike Boris Johnson, in fact. All self confidence and charm but no ability. I'm also not keen on his evangelical Christian views.

When he was in the Conservatives party he voted for and supported Boris Johnson I believe.

I agree, but according to the law of the land any MP can cross the floor without causing a bi-election.

I've no doubt every trans person will vote Green.
Unfortunately for the Greens, half the population are real women like me, who won't.

When I rule the world, that's one of the first changes I'll make. Any MP who changes party, automatically triggers a by-election in that constituency.

Galaxy Wed 29-Oct-25 13:41:29

I would vote for you butterandjam if that's any help, but maybe hurry up with your world takeover before the greens vote share increases.

Susieq62 Wed 29-Oct-25 13:48:08

How can I respect a turncoat who is evangelical and anti women’s rights?? Beyond belief that folk are being taken in by these self centred men who know nothing of the world in which I live!

kjmpde Wed 29-Oct-25 13:50:00

Never heard of him but if he is a member of Reform then it would be unlikely I would like him.

StoneofDestiny Wed 29-Oct-25 13:51:56

Kruger cannot be trusted any more than Farage. I’d never vote for a party with a leader and members who idolise Trump and Putin and use the tactics to get elected reminiscent of 1930’s Germany. Kruger is a fundamentalist as an evangelical Christian, the very group Trump relies upon for support and funding. The irony when you look at the sleazy lifestyle Trump and his friends live - so far removed from Christian values as it’s possible to get. Kruger is his own hero - he thinks everybody is wrong except him. He supported enthusiastically the people he now claims let the country down. He has shifted to Reform to save his electoral skin - not a principled person at all. Like Farage he benefits from stirring up discontent in our communities but will stand back and hold up his ‘clean hands’ up as if trouble is nothing to do with him.
So no - nothing to admire about the man at all. Everything to be repulsed by.

StoneofDestiny Wed 29-Oct-25 13:53:27

Indeed - there would be far less changing party and we’d soon see how principled they actually are.
