These weren't random foreign workers David. These were specialized engineers brought in temporarily to get the new plant up and running, not unskilled workers as you claim.

Some of the workers detained and deported have returned to the US to finish their job.

Yes I know David I subscribe to the Washington Post and watch CNN. I do know what's happening in the US. Members of my family travel to the US quite frequently, my younger daughter's partner travels to Boston regularly as he has research links with MIT. He was there in November and has very strong views about this proposed change. It would affect tourists, business travellers IMO is an invasion of privacy and is likely to make queues to get through immigration even longer. It will definitely affect tourism so hopefully it won't go through.

Marjorie Taylor Greene has called him out, on his comments about the Reiner murders. She is making sure to get the boot in, before she goes.

She's been making some very good points and she's popular with the MAGA base, so it will hurt Trump. She's saying the Republicans are heading for losses in the mid terms, hopefully she's right.

The workers spent a week at a Georgia detention center before the South Korean government negotiated their release and flew them home.

That’s their choice I hear both sides, my wife’s brother and sister live there, he is a staunch Republican, she a staunch Democrat, when we visit we don’t discuss politics otherwise it’s holiday as usual.
Immigration delays are routine if the passport scanner doesn’t work it takes longer but you still have to wait for bags to come through.
Now I know ESTAs are still valid I’m not expecting problems.

I have to go over to the USA about once a year. Fortunately I still have a permanent green card from when I was an associate professor at Uni of Nevada. The employer flies me and a carer out business class with special assistance so no queues. Its just a deductable business expense for them.

They had still not got valid visas, skills or not, l suppose you think that doesn’t matter.
I’m not a Trump supporter, but when it comes to migration every state, has immigration regulations and they should be enforced.

Seems it was a bit of an own goal! The Korean workers were installing machinery and training American workers in a huge new Hyundai factory and now they don't want to go back so the opening of the factory is on hold.They were breaking federal law by not having the correct visas for temporary workers but apparently this is common practice because of the difficulty and time taken to get the correct visas. South Korean government is saying Korean companies are reviewing if they should open factories in the US despite the US visas now being (rapidly) available and S Korean companies are putting limits on business travel to the US.

A friend of mine has just told me that her daughter has just cancelled her holiday in New York and is going to Egypt instead. Apparently she had thought that her mother was exaggerating when she warned her about Trump, but one of her friends was in a group travelling to the US. When they arrived their phones were taken away and they were denied entry. She now thinks Mother is right.

Were they turned away due to their social media history?

I know there are probably lots of people who have seen this but this is for those who haven’t.

More likely they has an ESTA but for some reason they were interviewed, customs looks at messages on phones, many are caught arranging work during their stay. Australia a NZ regularly send passengers home too, many get refused entry in the UK many more overstay their visa.

There are several Border Police programmes on TV with just those incidents and a lot more serious ones as well.
