Yesterday there was a very tragic shooting of a woman leaving the scene of an Immigration raid/incident . The video clips are very disturbing as she is shot and killed by an officer after she was given conflicting information by two officers . One who told her to leave and another who told her to get out of the car.
She was killed by a third officer who was to the side of the car . I can only advise you not to watch the clip if you feel it might be disturbing . I was able to read a good account of it in the NYT and it definitely looks and reads like she was murdered.
She was a white, US citizen not a target of the raid.
I truly feel like the USA is imploding from the inside out and that Trump is creating fires of danger everywhere.

It is the US under the Trump administration that has gone out of its way to prove it can no longer be relied upon to be an ally, not the UK or European countries that once didn’t question that relationship.
Times have changed very quickly and now we have no idea whether the US will instead of being an ally prove to be as much an enemy as Russia under Putin is.
So you are right Smileless.
I agree

I’ve watched three videos of this incident and I saw her pointing the car at the ice officer and appearing to accelerate towards him. Just goes to show how we all see things differently, it does seem that those who hate Trump see one thing and his supporters see another.
Actually, even if this did “turn her car pointing at ICE agents” if they were that scared, they had other choices, move out of the way, shoot her tyres, I don’t believe in any shape or style this killing was justified, it doesn’t matter if do or do support Trump
It isn’t like someone deliberately driving a car into a crowd which no one can escape from. And if it’s correct that the officer had been badly injured by being driven into previously then he surely overreacted with tragic consequences.

It isn’t our fight frogoet
If it was then I would be agreeing with you.But you are here antagonizing since the start of this thread which is greatly disturbing. It’s the country where I was born in. My nephew has been dating someone from Mexico and she comes back and forth to visit with all the right paperwork. She dies her hair blond and doesn’t “ look” blond. What used to be normal is no longer normal and you have to fear what you say and do. What you have on your phone. No freedom to express your opinions. It’s an utter disgrace. I just saw another video clip from the front of the car and it was disturbing. I don’t really want to discuss it as I couldn’t replay it . Her wife was included. I just had the impression she was trying to leave. The presenter was saying it clearly showed that the officer was to the side as she was trying to leave after he went around the car filming inside the car and around it her wife was outside the car and taunting their aggressiveness and telling them here is my license plate and this is where you can find us at our home. It was a set up for sure . That officer knew what he was doing . It was a setup execution( in my opinion ) He is an experienced border control officer and a former war veteran. The wife had a coffee in her hand outside of the truck with distance. It gave me great chills.
The video that the government shown was manipulated in a way to make it look like the officer was hit when in fact he was not.
I was a child during the 70’s and watched the horrors of the Viet Nam war. Saw the University students get mowed down by the National Guard. Peacefully protesting. Putting flowers in their guns.
Here we are again.
That’s why posts are sometimes garbled a bit and shaky.
Yet here you are Oreo, pretending it’s all fake news or commenting it isn’t our fight….hmmmm …looking the other way. We must not. Nobody nowhere must. Trump is truly tiring to create a Dark Empire . He is already designing his very own Arche de Triomphe . Now he wants a walk of heroes along the Potomac …a second floor added to his grandiose plans for the White House. It was so sickening to read all this in the NYT report ….while he ignored January 6 and vilified a brave Mom of 3 who was peacefully observing the agents in her own neighborhood. No different than ANY of the protests in the UK. Now Noem wants to GIVE them a license to kill by giving them immunity ! She said that and then 2 other people have been shot since. This is NOT how a democracy operates .
I will just take up a couple of things with you.
Antagonising? Does this mean you simply don’t like my comments as I am putting my own thoughts into my posts and not trying to agree or disagree with anyone else.Nor am I saying, if you took the time to read my posts properly, that anything about the ICE shooting was fake news.
I am saying that it isn’t a fight for either us as individuals or for the UK government.
It’s a fight or a challenge for those who actually live in the US.
Maybe you are a US citizen, in which case it’s up to you and you have every right to protest about it.
What do you suppose we do about it here in the UK?
Our government can’t and won’t interfere with US domestic policy.

They bundle people into cars on suspicion and often without any care about paperwork. With passports , with green cards. They have harassed American Indians who traditionally don’t often have actual paperwork. There was an actual US citizen who was deported in error that they eventually had to return. They separate children from parents. It’s an utter disgrace. They are kept in inhumane conditions. Deported often to countries that are not even their own countries. Far away from their families. It’s a disgrace.
It is a complete disgrace! I have a friend who is a gay (male) ordained minister. He and his husband are bona fide US born citizens, they’ve been on tenterhooks since Trumps first term and are busy holding vigils and peacefully protesting in the of peace and this poor dead women, calling for the dismantling of ICE.
*name of peace
Btw, I see this as as everyone’s fight!
It certainly wasn’t today’s version which is from the government. It wasn’t also the grainy version which has
already been found to have been manipulated.
The agent in the very first version walked away no problem . He was in no way injured.
The good part is that the Minnesota government asked anybody with evidence to hand it to them first so they can then hand it to the FBI. That way there are two eyes on that evidence. Which Trump, Noem and Vance won’t like .
They tried to circumvent the local Minnesota authorities but they are a clever bunch the Minnesotans and they won’t be outfoxed. There will be justice for Renee.

You post was powerful and heartfelt.
We must never side with such evil. We saw it during both the Vietnam protests and the civil rights protests.
Never ever believe that Trump has anyone’s best interest at heart. He is an authoritarian narcissist whose only interest is power and the wealth it brings.
Having watched a number of videos of the murder, it was embarrassingly clear that the ICE video had been manipulated.

You can see him in other clips coolly, calmly walking away at a fast clip.He was not badly injured ( if at all,) .

I agree totally.
When bad things are done to innocent people by those in a position of power it is incumbent upon good people to stand up and join the fight.
I am finally looking at the video. The CNN video is reportedly from the cell phone that the agent had in his hand filming the interaction and he shot the driver.
If this is true, why do as he filming? Did he not have a body camera? Why not? (I already know the answer to the last 2)
*In the US, a large portion (but not all) of police officers wear body cameras. The footage is public knowledge and can be requested by anyone through a Freedom of Information Act request. This practice was adopted not only to protect the people, but also the officers themselves from excessive force claims. These videos have been used successfully by defense on both sides in the US.
*Was he filming.....

I am led to believe ICE officers don't wear body cams because they don't need to- they will never need to present them as evidence- they are above the law.
That prompts the question why was he using his cell phone whilst doing his job? It was unprofessional and unnecessary and used to wind up the unfortunate victim of this cowardly crime.
On the footage I saw there was a large dog in the back seat of the car- why was this dog never mentioned before? The dog seems to disappear. this does make you wonder to what extent the footage has been manipulated.
The whole thing is horrible.
Listening to comments , apparently the idea is to flood areas with ICE agents who have been told by Trump “get rough”
Trump and Norm said yesterday (it all runs together) that ICE was going to start going door to door., house to house.

When an ICE agent fires three shots into someone's face, just what are they intending?
You know what I mean. I don't think he set out to murder her preemptively.

From your post at 08.11 in connection with the ICE agent who shot Renee Good
Nobody said he was hurt.
Well, I'm afraid that someone did say he was hurt. Your President on Truth (what a misnomer) Social
Report here from Hindustan Times. Just a report I picked at random from many world wide saying the same thing.
President Donald Trump has shared a statement on Truth Social after an ICE agent shot a 37-year-old woman dead in Minneapolis. Homeland Security officials said that 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good was shot in self-defense after she struck the agent with her vehicle. Video appeared to show Good’s Honda Pilot making contact with an ICE agent as he opened fire.
Minneapolis shooting: Trump claims Renee Nicole Good ‘viciously ran over’ ICE agent
Trump said Good “viciously ran over the ICE Officer,” adding that he is now recovering in a hospital. “I have just viewed the clip of the event which took place in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It is a horrible thing to watch. The woman screaming was, obviously, a professional agitator, and the woman driving the car was very disorderly, obstructing and resisting, who then violently, willfully, and viciously ran over the ICE Officer, who seems to have shot her in self defense. Based on the attached clip, it is hard to believe he is alive, but is now recovering in the hospital,” the US President wrote.

I could find a screenshot of his post if you like. There are plenty available.
Now you know I was talking about my post and in the context of this board; I do not care what Trump said in this discussion nor does it apply here.
Trump tends to over exaggerate, yes, and he tends to talk like a normal person, not like the polished slick politicians who say the standard things known to be very elusively neutral and soothing.
That is unfortunate for him, because he does say some nonsensical things, inaccurate things, etc. He doesn't put on the typical politician filter.
After decades of listening to politician speeches here in the US, local politicians, national politicians, etc. I cannot help but pick up on some common phrases and themes. It's very rehearsed, clearly.
I think Trump tries too hard, actually, to say things in situations where sometimes no comment, or just basic response is only necessary.
I think some of this stems from the onslaught of vicious attacks since his first term.
He is out to attack the left in every situation now, like they did him, but really, I think personally, he does need to cut that out.
Winning the second term was enough of a vindication if you ask me, no need to continue pointing out the left. But, he doesn't quit, and sometimes that makes him say foolish things.

Ran across a still picture on the internet for anyone who wonders about the shooting. Looks like at the time of the fatal shot (first one) tires were pointed ahead towards the officer. They turned after.
Could he have just gotten out of the way. She made contact in other video angles, but didn't run him over. It's easy to say yes he could, from our comfortable chairs at home. Maybe. Maybe not.
Although we will never really know, I do not think she intended to run him over nor he intended to murder her.
I think it was a fearful situation for all, something that should not have escalated like it did.
It's a tragedy that could have been avoided, had she not been obstructing or if she had just got out of the car...being arrested for obstructing would have been better than being shot in the head, I think everyone can agree on that.I think that’s a very sensible analysis of the situation.
Thank you.

Is there a reason apart from not wanting illegal immigrants?
We don’t want them here either. But we don’t have armed and trigger happy border forces.
There is a world of difference.
Trump has sent in this bunch of obviously badly trained gun toting cowboys because this is how he approaches any problem, with brute force, in order to show what a strong armed dictator he is.
But I am wondering...has your government done their job in keeping illegal immigration at bay? Because much of what is happening now in the US is because our previous administrations had not done their job.
And.......one huge flaw in our constitution.
We do have a problem with what we call anchor babies. Fly to the US 9 months pregnant and drop out the kid in US soil and it's automatically a citizen.
This creates HUGE problems because people have been caught doing this on purpose.
I believe being born in the UK does not give automatic citizenship??
If our government would bother to adopt this law, many of our illegal issues which does end up separating families would be non existent. Although, the separation is usually a choice, whether the deported parent wants to take the child back with them or leave with a legal relative here.
Still, it has created a back door that needs to be shut.
The whole world saw a MAGA gun toting wanna be policeman shoot and kill a young mother .,, just because he could. Absolutely sickening 😔
I’m afraid that your post addressed to me isn’t worth responding to, Starfire57. You appear to see a rational person, I see a maniac. Our minds will never meet.

If that policeman was hurt, how could he walk away, no stumbling. To shoot someone at close range through the head is murder. What has America become?
Nobody said he was hurt. Idk, should he have to be run over to prove that she could have run him over? If someone is heading towards you at close range with a car, I would say that's the issue, not whether or not she succeeded.
It's a shame that people just don't get out of the car and cooperate. She may have been jailed for obstruction but be alive.
I am not saying the officer did the right thing. Nobody did if you ask me, her nor him.Trump said he was badly hurt. If I was a woman in a car with men running at me with guns I wouldn’t get out of the car…my instinct would have been to stay in my car where I felt safe. And let’s not forget it was close to where George Floyd had been murdered by a policeman.
Nah. She realized she was going to get busted for obstruction, only letting cars by that were not full of ICE agents, and decided to escape. She was scared of jail, not guns.
