New puppy coming, advice please

We are getting a Collie Lab cross puppy in August. We already have a fully grown dog who is very well mannered and friendly, and well socialized. I am however a little concerned as to how to go about feeding both of them together. I am aware that the puppy might start to try to eat the other dog's food or vice versa and an argument ensue. The dog we have at present is very laid back about his food and is not protective of it but I want to make sure it all stays calm. I would rather not feed them in different rooms if I can avoid it unless that is the best way. What do you lovely people think please?

Well what a success today has been. The new puppy arrived and we introduced our older dog in the front garden and he was so relaxed and lovely with the puppy. We then took them straight through in to the garden and they have been absolutely fine. He has had to tell the puppy off just the once when she got a bit over familiar, but nothing else. It probably helps that the puppy has been living with her mother and father so is used to being with fully grown dogs, and accepts their cues. She is now sound asleep in her crate and I'm having a cuppa ;) Thank you all for your advice xx
