Knowing that Mum's not as agile as she was in her younger days I do try to help her with the stairs by wrapping myself round her ankles. What thanks do I get? Shrieks of "Go away Batman you idiot cat, you'll break my neck one day!" Where's the gratitude I ask you?

Poor Grace, what more has that poor girl to put up with? There is a comfortable bed here for her and she can have her own room but unfortunately there are no en suite facilities for her. She will not have to walk downstairs, I would take her down in the stair lift.

Batman- it sounds as though you should also move in here but it is becoming a bit crowded. That really is no way to speak to you when you are only trying your best to help.

My mum calls me "no no bad dog!" When I rush in from the garden with muddy paws. I don't think thats my my name! (Rudi the shichi)

Hellooooo! This is Tara- my mum has been inviting all sorts of waifs and strays into MY HOUSE and did not bother to consult me. I will be waiting at the door and I am really good at removing an eye.

My mum went away for a couple of days and left me on my own with just a neighbour popping in to feed me. She even shut the bedroom doors before she left. Where am I supposed to sleep?

Hello, I am a handsome and very cute grey dog with black eyes, I sit by a door all day and whenever the door is opened it hits my head. Surely this constant abuse should not go unpunished? I hear my mum telling people that I am the next best thing to a real dog that she would really, really love to have but cannot because our home is not suitable, but I say she is not fit to have a real dog if this is how I am treated - what is a real dog anyway, I thought I was real? She often strokes me and I even get my ears rubbed sometimes when she walks past me?

What a lovely thread! My name is Tassie and I am a very beautiful tabbie/tortie with white socks which I keep very clean. My people look after me very well and I can sleep any where I want to except in their bed at night. I didn't mean to bite him when I crept under the duvet but he moved his foot and surprised me! I've been a bit sicky lately and she shouldn't shout when I leave it on the carpet for them, at least they can see it! The nasty person we went to see gave me some medicine -ugh! - and some new food, which is alright. I'm a little better but they keep watching me so I'm always being disturbed! I'll soon let them know if I'm going to be sick again!! It's a cat's life!

Just reading the message about the pretend dog. My humans have one which represents their previous deceased companion called Thomas the West Highland- I of course beat it up if I get the chance as any respecting Cairn would.

Get well soon Tassie. You might be interested to know that the version of a Moon Cup used by Mum in the past was called a Tassie - Yuk!

Hello Tom Cat,
I am so sorry to hear that you were abandoned-your mum may call it a break- it is pure abandonment if that is a word. Closing the bedroom doors was really mean, as you said, where would you sleep? You obviously could not snuggle under your mum's duvet. I suppose at least she asked somebody to feed you, she did not leave you to your own devices re food.

I found a delicious rat when I was a bit younger but the problem was I could not get it and me through the cat flap so I had to leave it on the doorstep for mum to remove it. I need not describe the fuss and commotion. Last year I brought home half dead birds for a treat- she did not like that either- what pleases her I wonder?

Tom, I feel for you- I obviously have a much better home than you, I am not abandoned.

I have been thinking- if we can get on without fighting, why do you not come and stay here? I will show you how to get through a closed door which has been boarded up to keep me in at night and also where there is a friend of mum's who is allergic to cats and I do like to sneak into his house. He only lives 2 doors away so no problem for us. That really is a laugh, listening to him sneezing and carrying on.

I may be a girl but I am very strong as the cat doctor found out recently. He had the cheek to wear strengthened rubber gloves going beyond his elbows the last time I was dragged there for an inspection of an infected bite. It was so embarrassing, it was on my rear.

Tara you sound like a full-on Queen, would I be tomcat enough for you? (well, no, I had the indignity of being taken to the vet's for what they called a 'little op' the other week. Oh, the shame ).

And I am not full-sized yet and ginger to boot, just like that human they call 'Prince Harry' - and just as handsome I might add!.

I cannot believe that you were taken to the cat doctor for that "little op"- can they not even be truthful? I do hope that you have recovered. I had similar surgery but before I moved in here.

My life was hell when 2 ginger toms came to live here a couple of years ago, fortunately they have moved. Oh boy did I hate them. They would lie in wait at my cat flap and then I was given a fancy one that accommodated my microchip only. My mum came home one day to find me racing upstairs with one of the big brutes in hot pursuit- that is what made her do that kind thing for me. She had to do something as that brute was wearing the old one around his middle.

Although I think I live in a big city, it is very quiet here-sometimes I sunbathe in the middle of the road but that does not go down a treat.

If you could wind my mum round your little paws- you could then stay forever. There is space for you to have your own room- you would not have to share with me. You are never allowed on the sofa. It is pink and has to be dry cleaned whatever that means. It is not worth the fuss, I did try.

Tara - are you sure your mum won't mind if I bring in a dead (well, half-eaten) mouse and hide it somewhere she can't find it only smell it when it starts to de-compose?
Well actually, it was her fault because they went away again and left me with friend-up-the-road to come in, she did feed me and give me cuddles but it wasn't the same.
My mum flapped around a lot when I brought in a bird - it wasn't dead so it flapped around like her; she didn't like it because it squawked as it flew around the kitchen and pooed a lot. The man next door came in and caught it and put it outside so I could have fun catching it again.

ps sunbathing in the middle of the road is nice, but sometimes it is nicer to hide under parked cars so no-one knows you are there.

As the cats have probably been reading all about Rory they will probably be offered luxury penthouses as holiday lets with the services of Soop and MacSporran to wait on them as house keepers and butler.
