My cat has a thing about metal pan scrubbers too, I’ve no idea where he takes them. He also likes to carry around wrapped boiled sweets.

My DD’s Cat when she was a lot younger used to pilfer from neighbours, hair scrunchies, combs, hairbrushes, socks, pegs, a goldfish on one occasion and the most unusual a partly carved joint of beef! Nowadays she’s happy with cotton buds.

My cat doesn’t pilfer dishcloths etc, but she loves to roll around on the newly washed kitchen floor. It’s not a very common occurrence, so it must be quite a novelty for her. ?

A neighbour’s cat used to come in the house and steal cat toys. A real life cat burglar.

lemongrove....I also used to have a neighbour's cat who use to come into my house, play with my cats' toys, then take one home! My cats used to just sit and watch....

Phoenix....your cat is eccentric! One of mine used to bring me various gifts - pebbles, pegs, the usual birds, mice and frogs (all still alive), and once, a sausage from someone's BBQ

My friend kept finding pieces of her sons clothes, usually on the kitchen floor though sometimes on the stairs. Pant's/socks even t shirts. She was annoyed at him for dropping and then leaving them on the floor rather than putting in the washing machine. When he said he hadn't put them there the mystery deepened until one day quite by chance she happened to see one of her cats in his bedroom helping himself to a tshirt he'd left on the bed. He struggled to get it down the stairs and gave up when he got to the bottom, walked off leaving the shirt on the floor lol.

My friend had to set up a FB page for her cat & his kleptomaniac exploits so she can reunite people with their bras and knickers, photos, baby toys, hats gloves and scarves! He even 'stole' a neighbours (4 week old) kitten!
He's bought home other more unsavoury items... used condoms, spent fireworks and sanitary products ?.

All our neighbours cat did was spray on the curtains, wonder what he was in previous life?

Shoes! From other houses and always much bigger than her! We've had: sports shoes, slippers, flip-flops, oh yes and various kinds of hat. She's only a young cat and not very big so it's a big trek for her to carry a man's trainer in her mouth along the road, into our garden and up the back steps. Maybe it's the feline mothering instinct. I hope the kitten was still alive Purplepoppies!

My cat must be really boring, he sticks to bringing mice, dead, or alive and the odd bird!

My daughter had a female cat and a tomcat came a-calling bearing a gift of a pound of bacon wrapped in greaseproof paper!

My son has just acquired a stray cat. First of all he said it would be an outdoor cat, the next day it was raining so it was allowed in the utility room with the heat turned on, the next day it was in the lounge! Cats are amazingly clever at finding a home for themselves. As yet we don't know what habits it has, or even if it's male of female.

I had a wonderful cat who, on days when the weather was dreadful, bitterly cold and pouring with rain, would arrive home warm and dry and smelling quite distinctly of lady's handcream!

My cat doesn't steal but I think she was a headmistress in a previous life. She's VERY bossy and orders my husband about! His name is Alan and her loud mieow sound like 'Al' she calls him like this several times to be fed and if he ignores her her next 'command' sounds like 'NOW' it's hilarious. He jumps to it every time! ?

My beloved cat isn’t with me anymore sadly, but I hadn’t realised how they can imitate. Seeing your post janweb65, reminds me of how my cat used to make the exact sound of a seagull! So clever!?

My two ginger toms, Gilbert & Sullivan, used to follow me everywhere I went. They even walked me to the bus stop then toddle back home after I had safely boarded. My neighbours witnessed this on a regular basis. Both my lovely pets have gone now. How we miss them

Yes we do miss them terribly. Our big ginger Tom now sadly gone was a real character. I went into work one day and told my colleagues I'd had a row with him. He was sitting on the worktop and I told him to get down and he replied with 'oooOOH' like a sulky teenager every time I said get down, eventually i put him on the floor and he walked off grumbling to himself and giving me dirty looks. Work mates thought I'd gone mad but you have to have a cat to understand their personalities. Miss him so much.

A previous cat arrived home one Sunday lunch time witha cooked chicken leg ,,,,,never dared ask the neighbours if they had missed it but I would have loved to have seen their faces! we now have two that were strays ..both been neutured, but one still thinks he is wild and refuses to eat his tuna, or cat food ,,,twice last week he left once a huge RAT onthe mat (bigger than him !) and then a RABBIT .....I got him a collar with a bell but so far he hasn't stayed still enough for me to get it on !

One of ours is a sock thief , but he only takes DHs socks.
Previously we had a female cat who brought back scrunchies if we threw them for her, but never retrieved her soft toys or balls.

I've noticed however that cats tend to play the same games as their predecessors even when they never knew them, and this is not because we taught them the game.

As a child I had a cat who sucked clothes, she was very fond of woolly cardigans and of nightdresses!

My cat used to bring home gloves and socks, particularly a child's football glove, and he was very fond of large blusher brushes, which he liked to wash and groom. He also liked boiled sweet lollies, (bought for Trick and Treat gifts and left by the front door), which we found all over the house, usually under the furniture.
