This new cat of mine is very affectionate and as soon as he sees me heading for bed he goes down and gets in too. It's a bit annoying as he wants to have his head on the pillow and paws around me. I shut the door last night when he started to lick me and then was afraid I had hurt his feelings. Should I just lock him in the kitchen?

I am my cat's human. When I go to bed if she doesn't follow me up to bed I know I'm in for a bad night. In the summer she sleeps on top of the duvet. In winter she snuggles underneath it. I love it and others do not that's ok your not invited to share my sleeping arrangements. X

My elderly cat sleeps on my bed at night and often puts his head on my pillow with his nose touching my cheek. It gives us both a lot of comfort as I lost my husband nearly 3 years ago and we lost the cat's brother 18 months ago. We are helping each other through the grieving process.

Our cats don't go out, and I am sure would be delighted to sleep with us, but have the habit of deciding to have a 'bundle' without warning, so sleep in the utility room. They get a treat for going to bed, and nag us if they think we are staying up too late!

Yes my cat sleeps at the bottom of the bed every night.

Anthony and Cleopatra (cats) sometimes sleep on my bed. They are no problem if they do. I leave the bedroom door on the jar in case they want to go out before I wake up.

No. We have two cats, both rescues from Romania. My husband has Asthma (and is a dog lover - but neither of us are bale to walk a dog these days). We put Jack and Bella in different rooms to sleep, so they are not racing round together and creating havoc! I have always loved animals and had both cats and dogs - but never allowed them to regularly sleep on the bed. They do, of course, often sleep on the spare bed, in the daytime!

We have a very large long haired rescued giner cat who will move around during the night to sleep in different places. Starts on the bottom of the spare bed, then later in the night moves to the bath for a sleep and sometimes she moves to her shoes box that she loves in or creep into my wardrobe if its open. Only once on the foot of our bed and that was when some fireworks were let off and then she came running into our room and left onto the foot of the bed for the night. Help I scared.

I lost my 19 year old cat earlier this year. She used to sleep next to me and hold my hand. She used to get a bit cross if I wasn't ready for bed when she wanted to go. I miss her terribly.

We've had many cats over the years including a pair of brothers, Hamish & Walter. Hamish used to sleep on my pillow above my head & Walter right down the bed, under the duvet - I was never quite sure how he breathed! The recently deceased & lamented Thistle was fickle - he'd sleep in between Graffa C and me or at the bottom of the bed or he'd choose the spare bed. There's a space on the bed going begging...spring kittens I think!

I bought a lovely furry bed for him and he absolutely refuses to set foot in it.I passed it on to my son for his stray cat and she loves it. She has been visiting him for 3 years staying all night and in and out through the day. However he got a shock this morning she arrived wearing a collar and bell and a message do not feed this cat!

We have a whippet and she sleeps on the bed until we go to bed and then goes into her own bed thats in the bedroom. she loves to be near us , its part of the breed. She doesn't smell, moult or god forbid have fleas!!

I adore having my two bichons on bed with me every night. Generally one or both sleep on my pillow and I wouldn't have it any other way. Doubt they would either!
The benefits of us all snuggling together feeling safe and secure to me completely out weighs any negatives perceived by others. I ♥️ my bichons!! ??

My dog has slept on the bed from 12 weeks old, she’s now 18 and can’t get up the stairs ( bless her) I wish she could, but she has the whole sofa and throw to herself every night instead.

f77ms Thu 05-Nov-20 18:18:43

Lucky you! My cats usually come for a cuddle when i go to bed but sadly dont stay.

helsbels6 Thu 05-Nov-20 18:31:21

Ooooh nooooo. We have a lovely golden retriever, but she’s not allowed upstairs day or night. She is long haired, moults all year and quite frankly she smells, wouldn’t want that in my bed.

AnnieB4 Thu 05-Nov-20 18:35:28

Had both cats & dogs before & didn't have them sleeping on my bed but got a lovely rescue doggie 6 months ago & he always takes up residence on my bed. Was a bit strange at first but now now just love to have him cuddled up near me..he's really quiet & peaceful...bless him...does shed hair which I remove from bed cover with sticky tape but no fleas...he's really clean... would recommend!

It's more a case of me sharing the dog's bed. He is a German shepherd and I have to fit into the space he has left!

TrendyNannie6 Thu 05-Nov-20 19:16:51

No we have our own beds

TrendyNannie6 Thu 05-Nov-20 19:19:32

This is where we sleep

TrendyNannie6 Thu 05-Nov-20 19:27:38

And this is where I sleep

Puzzler61 Thu 05-Nov-20 19:53:16

Those beds are so chic! (Cute cats too).
We got a cat igloo for our tabby girl but she shunned it from the start, preferring our bed.

Daftbag1 Thu 05-Nov-20 20:41:35

Our dog kindly allows us to share her bed, being a clever girl, she is now champion at pushing my husband out, so it becomes a girls only bed.

If we kick her out, she opens the door and gets in without invitation.
