Love dogs. They are loyal, love you unconditionally. They provide an important service, police, for the blind, service dogs, dogs that alert people of a seizure. No animal can compare. My little dog is my companion now I am widowed and I trust her completely, which is more than I can say for some humans. I can understand someone disliking dogs if they have had a bad experience but to dislike randomly, the problem is with you not dogs. Have never trusted anyone who dislikes animals too.

People are being killed or injured by dogs and their lives spoilt by bad behaviour of dogs and owners. I would like dogs more if there were more controls over their behaviour. Bringing back dog licences snd having more dog wardens would be a start.

People who take their dogs where it clearly states “ no dogs “.

This is a real bugbear of mine. I have a grandson with multiple co-morbidities. He is terrified of dogs, so we always research holiday destinations to ensure there is a dog free beach nearby. We have never yet not encountered dogs on these beaches. The owners often state their dog is 'just being friendly' when it runs over our blankets and terrifies my grandson. The indifference to our disabled grandson's distress is really upsetting.

No but I like many dog owners even less.
“ He really likes you “ when slobbering over you it jumping up.
Owners who have no recall with their dog when they behave badly.
Dogs who smell but owners don’t notice. Particularly bad when dogs are in a cafe near me.
Dogs allowed to sit on seats in cafes, on trains or buses.
Owners who dont or pretend not to notice their dogs leaving a pile of poo somewhere public.
People who take their dogs where it clearly states “ no dogs “.
Owners who say “ he won’t hurt you “ not considering my feelings at all.
I really don’t like dogs mainly because of their owners.

Also Big Louis , unless she is now using a different name. Does anyone know?

By the way has anyone heard from
Kate1949 recently?
Haven't seen her around on the forum recently.
She usually comments on these type of threads.
Hope she's OK.

Yes I love dogs. I once had 17 Irish wolfhounds. Lovely gentle giants. I don’t have any now but am happy to dog-sit my daughters 2 dogs when she’s away.

I don’t like dogs - or cats

sarahcyn Sat 01-Mar-25 22:06:45

Dogs are non-human animals entirely at the mercy of humans. If some of them are unappealing that will invariably be because of some vile human’s treatment, training or forced breeding.

Mandymoo456 Sat 01-Mar-25 22:02:16

No I don't like dogs

Huia Sat 01-Mar-25 21:54:56

Difficult to give a yes or no response:

Yes if they are not living with me
No if they live near by and bark a lot
No if they are badly trained (most of them)
Yes if they are guide dogs or police dogs
No but with sadness if they are left alone all day and howl for the pack they are meant to be with.

I loved my two dogs, but the trauma we experienced when they had to be put down was awful. I wouldn’t approach a strange dog. My DD’s partner has two dogs and I don’t like it when they try to lick my face.

I’m not a cat person at all, I was left scarred as a toddler after a neighbour’s cat attacked me in my pram when my DM was chatting to the neighbour.

Preferably to some humans.

I don't like dogs at all but my daughter has a Cockerpoo which I look after at times and I have to admit that I am very fond of her!!

I like dogs, especially Boxers, having had them for over 60 years. My current gentle girl is my 'early warning system' if anyone comes through the gate. She looks very frightening, which is her job looking after me. Having lost my husband she is my constant companion. She doesn't smell, is obedient and the three rescue cats love her. It appalls me that so many people have dogs (and cats) which are abandoned.
Although my preference is for the Boxer breed, I do like all dogs, but prefer them to be the bigger breeds and to be well trained! Unfortunately people with yappy little dogs think, that because they can pick them up, don't bother to train them to do as they are told. Actually I prefer dogs to people!!

grannybuy Sat 01-Mar-25 19:59:41

I like them well enough, but wouldn’t have one of my own. I prefer cats.

No, I am not a fan of dogs. I'm allergic to dogs & cats. We live in a small, terraced house, our next door neighbour has 3 dogs, all German pointer dogs, the owners work full time. The dogs are walked once a day, for a short walk, then howls & barks for the rest of the day whilst the owners are in work. They are not the sort of owners we could approach about noise, we just have to put up with it. We are both retired & we are woken at 6.30am every morning when the dogs are let out in the back garden, they just bark & bark. I just don't understand why people would have 3 x large dogs and not give them the attention they deserve, sigh ... angry Don't get me started on the extender leads which owners use in our local park angry

Bluepanther86 Sat 01-Mar-25 19:11:08

No I don’t like dogs. Think they should be kept on lead when out in public as there are too many irresponsible dog owners and attacks on people.

tinad42 Sat 01-Mar-25 19:01:03

Love the woofers! Mine gets me out of the house for walks, talking to others and someone to keep me company, other than the other half 😂

Skye17 Sat 01-Mar-25 18:42:33

I do like dogs, but I don’t like it if they jump up at me or lick me. I know they’re being friendly - I still don’t like it.

Dogwalkingnana Sat 01-Mar-25 18:23:48

We rescued a Great Pyrenees. She is a wonderful dog.

Foxtail Sat 01-Mar-25 18:20:02

I like my own dogs, not too keen on everyone elses smile
Always clean up after my dogs but detest those that don't and often think some let their dogs off the lead to run so they don't have to pick up. Today I walked to a nearby village to get an Evri drop off place..outside the shop were 3 men and one had what I believe was an XL bully, it was not muzzled though the man was carrying a large leather multi strap muzzle. I was reluctant to pass them to go into the shop as the dog looked very powerful. This type of dog is not neccessary.

Magrithea Sat 01-Mar-25 18:08:07

Two of our DC have dogs but I can take them or leave them really.
