Our cats always slept on our bed. I haven't owned a dog and if DS and family bring their dog here she sleeps in a crate.

Bit unfair!

Well,I’m nearly 80 and dogs have slept on my bed since I was about 5. Never caught anything from them..or they from me.
All I’ve had is comfort,protection,listening skills, and an alarm clock.

Our dogs nowadays are part of our family. Thank goodness new baby puppies are no longer left to cry alone and many sleep in with their owners from day one.
I share my bed with a small dog and two big cats. They disturb my sleep far less than my ex-husband did and a cat’s purr is the best lullaby.

My cats sleep on our bed with the puppy in her crate on the floor. If we didn't have cats she'd be allowed on the bed as soon as she was completely house trained as have all my other dogs.

Of course, although she does take up the majority of it given a chance 😂

I like sharing a bed with cats, but not dogs.
We only have a dog at the moment, he sleeps in the bedroom in his own bed.
My main objection to dogs that they are such fidgets & wake me up in the night sometimes, whereas cats seem to wait till morning to do that.

We have a French Bulldog who shall be three years old in December and loves his human Mom & Dad ..

When our 3 grand-kids come to visit for the Christmas through The Epiphany Christmas Holidays, he sleeps with the kids.

He is one of the cleanest canines, with regular Groomer appointments and of course daily paw wipings and brushing and organic coconut oil applications to his coat .. And of course, a clean little "booty" as he is wiped after outdoor toilet business.

We also have 2 male Birman and these do same. It is a triologie ..

My Cavapoo puppy graduated from a crate in my bedroom to my bed after 6 months.

I love having him there with me and can't see a problem with it. I change the throw on top of the bed frequently.

Paddy provides a lot of comfort for me.

I have 2 large dogs sleeping on my bed. My other dog is disabled and can’t get upstairs sadly but she has her very cosy bed downstairs. I would miss my dogs a lot if they decided to sleep elsewhere - like on their own beds. My bed has a sheet over the top at night, just to keep the duvet cover clean. I wash the bedding every week. Why do so many people here think dogs are disgusting. I much prefer them to people !

Oh my goodness yes! Golden Retriever sleeps on his own bed in our bedroom. Our 8lb rescue sleeps IN the bed by my feet!!

Well, having read multiple posts stating dogs sleep on the bed, it makes me even more wary of 'Dog Friendly' accommodation, even if it states no dogs in the bedrooms or on the beds ! Difficult now to find anywhere to stay that isn't dog friendly !

Not in my experience. More DF restaurants yes, but searching for accommodation near DD that is dog friendly isn’t easy even if you look specifically for that.

When I was ill as a child my cat would sleep on my bed, under the eiderdown. The doctor was a bit surprised when he found her, but he never said she shouldn’t be there.

Only one dog ever slept in my bed. When I was 16 I bought a puppy from Tower View Kennels that arrived by train in a dreadful state. Chronic eczema and pneumonia on both lungs. Vet visited and injected and told my mum it wouldn't survive - he didn't charge any money. As it wouldn't eat my mum told me beat up raw egg with milk and water. The puppy made a full recovery drinking that for 2 weeks. She had a lovely shiny coat too. My Sindy dog.

Both my dogs kept me company on my bed after my divorce. When I met my new partner they just plonked themselves in their beds which were always on the floor at foit if the bed. I've also let my cat sleep on my bed! All my dogs/cats have had access to the bed, the sofa, the chair wherever they are comfortable. That said most would come for a quick cuddle then take themselves off to their favourite spot 🥰

Oreo, the room issue was key for me. Mr I was a big chap and we often had three dogs, usually including one Big Dog, so they slept downstairs.
My current two sleep together, in the big utility, they’re fed in there and it’s the place they are sent to if visitors arrive. It’s personal choice but I’ve also wanted my dogs to be secure enough to settle without their humans, plus avoiding them developing separation anxiety

I have family members who constantly row about this. The husband is fed up. Three dogs and two cats have literally and figuratively come between him and his wife…

It’s a personal choice, but not for me.

They are dogs, not babies.

Unfortunately, some people don’t know the difference.

My Labrador was instructed from day one NO! When attempting to jump on settee.
She knew her place which was in her own bed.

My Chorkie/Chihuahua cross sleeps on my bed. He has his own blanket and cushion at the bottom of my bed. Sometimes he sleeps there and other times he sleeps beside me and sometimes on the rug beside the bed
He also has his own place on the settee. His fleecy blankets are on the middle cushion. He’s bathed regularly and the blankets are washed regularly as well.
He’s part of the family and he’s a great comfort to me.
Tell your friend it’s up to you if you have your dog on your bed or not, as long as he isn’t sleeping on her bed she’s nothing to worry about.

Your dog, your bed, your decision.
However, I can't imagine letting a creature that walks the streets barefoot, doesn't shower daily, doesn't wipe its bottom or that sniffs and licks dog poo climb onto my bed. Ugh

We had 2 dogs that slept in our bed. When rescued a third dog and had to buy a bigger bed.

My dog always sleeps on my bed. She's a great comfort and keeps my feet warm.
