E.ON are trying to make it easier for customers shopping around for a new energy tariff by reducing the number of tariffs it offers to no more than five for customers to choose from. The new tariffs are designed to be simpler and easier to compare with E.ON's new online tool.

Here's what E.ON says about it: 'We know that choosing the right energy tariff can be daunting, so we've simplified our tariffs and launched a new online tool to help make choosing our best deal quick and easy to do in just a couple of minutes'.

E.ON would like you to visit their online energy tariff quote and comparison tool, enter your details and see what deals you're offered. They'd then like you to come back to this thread to give your feedback on the following:

- how you found the comparison tool to use
- what the deals on offer were like e.g. how much you would paying and what rewards you could get

Everyone who visits the tool and then adds their feedback here will be entered into a prize draw to win a £500 John Lewis voucher.

Very complicated, I'm with Eon but not sure which plan I'm on - so far they have proved much cheaper than my last supplier.

The site is easy to use but really contains too much information. I haven't used EON yet but will try this comparism toolwhen my latest deal ends with Scottish Power.

I couldn't make much sense of it. My daughter switched mine to the same as hers a few weeks ago, and I know it's fixed for 2 winters, which is much more important to me than a temporary bonus or incentive for switching.

confusing!!!!! i have no idea about units used & cost per unit etc. I do know they definitely work out more expensive than the fixed rate i set up last month that will last until 2014 with no cancellation fee so i will not be going with E on

I found the comparison tool very easy to navigate through. The 'click' tabs were clear, concise, and the colour made the website easy on the eye. The questions were simple and quick to answer. This is really important because a lot of comparison sites get a bit dull and ask in-depth questions that I do not always know the answers to straight away.

The tariffs that I was offered were very reasonable indeed (between £804 and £904) for dual fuel low usage. This is around what I am currently paying with another provider, therefore not competitive enough for me to change provider. However, I had no idea that Tesco points could be collected with EON and this would be a considerable bonus if I were looking to change provider. The only negative point that I have is that as the quote is an 'estimate' it could be likely that the quote is not true to actual charges.

This however is a negative point true to many comparison sites. Overall this particular comparison tool is very competitive and clearer than many others that are available online.

Have looked, but still have to go on all the other sites to compare who is the cheapest. Think they should all charge the same, then there's no confusion.

I found the site ok to use, butIt would be better if they also gave some idea of competitors prices - to prove they were really good prices.

I use Ecotricity for my gas and electricity.
All profits go into wind turbines, solar and wave energy. Some gas is imported from Holland or Belgium. It is biogas.
Even some of the big companies like Sainsburys and B&Q use Ecotricity as they build wind turbines for them. If every industrial estate had wind turbines they would not look as out of place as many people seem to think they are.
Does anyone live in Norfolk or Cambridgeshire? There is an Ecotricity turbine in Swaffham that you can climb up. On a good day, you can see Norwich, Peterborough and Ely cathedrals.
They charge the same rate as your local standard gas and electricity company but there is no difficulty in switching.
By the way, I do like wind turbines, even in the Durham Dales. It's not wasted land as sheep can safely graze underneath them. Whatever direction I leave my village from, I pass wind turbines. Our grandson cannot see enough of them. I can see three from my sitting room window.

We are actually already with Eon. I was prompted to check which plan we were on about 1 month ago and used uswitch to come up with the best plan for us (not the cheapest, as that is a discounted price and I wanted a fixed price, which doesn't work out too much more per year based on current prices but could save me a fortune next time prices increase). I then logged in to Eon and when I saw their new tool I was very impressed. It makes a nice change for energy providers to tell you which of their plans is cheapest. If you are already with Eon and have no wish to change it is a brilliant tool though I suspect that many people prefer to check other companies too. The only thing that it would be better is if on the graph they could highlight which ones are variable prices and which ones are fixed then it would be perfect; I do understand you can usually tell from the name of the plan but a visual clue would be better.

The site was easily enough to use but when the form is complete, it didn't highlight the fact that you would actually be paying more if you switched. The only graph you need to see is the cost of the cheapest tariff vs the one you are currently on.

I am also one for not being concerned about rewards and deals. It feels as though the original price is made higher just so a discount can be given. Was £10000000000 a year now £1300 a year after discounts. All i want is that end figure and take no notice of the original.

They should make this easier to understand.

I found the site very easy to use. I am an Eon customer and think that it is a much easier way of looking at tarriffs than previously. I actually discovered that we could save money so I switched to a different tarriff. Switching was also extremely easy too.

Not very promising as it didn't have my house number on the drop down list, 1st time that has happened. Looking at other comments I am not the only one. If they cannot get that right what else are they getting wrong?

I have been with E.ON before, but as I now live in a caravan, the power is supplied by the site and I have no choice about the supplier.
