Tarot reading has worried me
(168 Posts)I have used this tarot reader several times over a few years and he has generally been accurate- specific dates and predictions have been correct eg redundancy,
This time he has predicted I may lose my job this May, a bullying manager is involved and a blonde woman helps him. This is because he got the fallen tower, 10 of swords and five of pentacles cards. The manager will say I'm underperforming etc
I have googled these cards and they aren't good- meant to be the worst in the whole lot.
I do have a bullying manager, the HR person is a blonde woman and I'm still on probation. It is also a step up and whilst I'm capable, I need training and he isn't supportive.
I don't want to lose a job after 6 months when it is a step up.
How can I stop worrying?
It’s all mumbo jumbo. You can read reality into any of these readings and all it is doing is worrying you. As you are on probation you just have to accept that you MIGHT lose your job for many reasons. You must think positively.
A few years ago I was applying for work from home jobs.
I received an email offering a phone tarot reading job where callers phoned a premium number to get a reading.
I spoke to the company and said I could not read tarot cards and was told I would be given a script to read and was just to keep the caller on as long as possible and encourage call backs.
Particularly cruel as it is usually the vulnerable or people in crisis that call.
Thank you everybody for replying. I would feel too embarrassed to admit this in real life, so I'm very grateful for your support.
I felt a bit better in work today- and being sensible it isn't in my managers interest to lose me as I do some work.
The job is a good opportunity and local so I'd like to stay as long as possible as I am learning some things.
This reader has been accurate with dates and predictions before- (I take notes).
My concern is If I lose my job- does it look like I can't cope with the step up and will this prevent me from furthering my career?

No not at all you can spin it especially if you "actioned" what you identified as your learning needs from this oportunity.
Predictions become accurate. They werent accurate to start with.
E.g. "I see you driving a green car"
Person writes it down
Thinks they've "forgotton" about it but something draws them to the green car in the lot. Buy it.
Get out their predictions: "wow, I DID buy a green car!"
But it was the planting of the idea that did it.
Lots of people zig zag their way up the career ladder. Arguably it makes you more well rounded when you get to the top than those who catapulted up in a straight line x
Seriously, it's all rubbish. Saw a guy in TV who wrote out predictions for a group of people. He was so precise that some were in tears! Some thought that he had read their diary. At the end he got them to swap the prediction, some were reluctant as they were so personal. Turned out they were all the same! He said NEVER waste your money on fortune tellers!
Most dates can have significance. If you look for it.
Daisymae That's a famous experiment known as The Barnam effect also the Forer effect after the psychologist who first did the experiment.
The students were asked to rate the accuracy of assessment of their character. They gave it 4.6 out of 5. Then they were told the assessments were all the same.
There are YouTube videos about it.
Also about cold and hot reading and some quite funny videos of people doing it and the way they change the descriptions until they hit the right one but people think 'yes, he got it'. It's a sad thing.
Jaycee - that's interesting. I guess humans have a lot in common! One thing that was odd though, a spritualist told my brother a deceased relatives nickname that neither of us knew at the time. I found it later when I visited the family grave..........
Tarot= total rubbish = someone ripping you off.
Bullying manager is a different matter and I sympathise. Other posters are correct though, keep a log, get someone on your side. You’ll probably find you aren’t the only one who has suffered at her hands. Don’t stand for it! I know how stressful it can be and I retired early partly to get away from a similar situation. Life is too short to put up with bullying. Good luck!
ineedamum you have to judge when to jump before you are pushed. Then they can't legally give you a negative reference. They can only give a negative reference if they dismissed you after a properly structured and failed PIP or for gross misconduct. If you leave of your own accord they can't.
I read Tarot and two things to remember. The fact this guy has said such specific things makes me wonder because the cards show possibilities, trends, things that might happen or could happen but they are not fixed in stone and can change. There are cards that suggest they best that will happen if you don’t heed the advice’ meaning you cAn change things. Saying you ‘will’ lose your job is hmm. Not a given, and does he know your situation? Naming blonde women and so on has to come from somewhere other than the cards themselves.
I have dabbled in tarot cards and while they don't predict the future, they contain images that stimulate the subconscious so that they can offer ideas and point to concerns.
The ability to be intuitive is something humans possess, its a shame to rubbish it. Of course people who visit a tarot card reader are often hoping for information about the future and of course they will latch onto what is said and they are likely to 'hear' what is significant for them. It's the same when you see a counsellor.
I see a chiropractor regularly and he often, without provocation, will say something, comment etc and it's often spot on to an issue or concern in my life. I think we all pick up things from other people especially if we spend time with lots of people and are open to our subconscious. The extent to which we have free will is a great subject for debate.
It's a shame that there are charletans waiting for the gullible but it's the same in the rest of life. We often hear what we want to hear and when our fears overwhelm us, we look for insight and support. A good tarot reader or even looking at the cards for oneself can offer a moment of quiet inner introspection.
Please please do not let these people guide you . One told me about my 4 children ! I have 3 with no miscarriage s Another one told me the house I was trying to buy would go through. Guess what it fell through that same afternoon! Be careful otherwise you will develop a self fulfilling prophecy. I have low self esteem so I always avoid put downs .
Thank you again.
I do need to learn the job and it's only from my manager. However, he doesn't explain things, pedantic, critical, controlling, domineering, and doesn't like it when I show initiative. These are his words.
For example, I needed to send a letter for which there is a template. He opens the template and starts typing it changing some of the relevant details (my name, date etc) and then prints the letter and goes out for lunch.
However, he didn't write the letter properly and didn't tell me where I could find the letter! Most people would say where the letter is and say change the relevant parts.
If I stay there, I'd find it incredibly difficult and stressful so maybe the fallen tower card means things are built on rocky foundations, there are false illusions so when you lose a job/other dramatic change, really things weren't as you thought.
Perhaps it wouldn't be a bad thing if I lost my job!
I thought yesterday if it did happen, the fallen tower tarot includes the concept of faulty foundations and when it falls it seems a shock.
Imagine you ARENT let go during probation. How would that feel?
In an ideal world the boss would leave or change but in practice he may be there for the long run.
Do you want to still be working for him in a year?
If its a means to an end and a stepping stone to moving on I might try to put up with it, but I wouldnt want to be there long term.
Im not saying you shouldnt address issues but lets be real.
I dumped astrology nearly 30 years ago. Haven't had a reading, a chart compiled or read a horoscope in all that time, never will again. Good to be free of that stuff.
Do you consider where fortune telling is bad, divination is good ?
The manager is undermining me and not giving me sufficient support. Hes also a bully and he admits to being controlling, domineering, prednatic and unpleasant and aggressive.
The unpleasantness I can tolerate, but its a great opportunity and I want to learn.
I'm taking notes of his behaviour but its frustrating and stressful when i'm in work. If I stop typing for 10 seconds- hes asking if there's a problem!
Thank goodness its Friday tomorrow
The trouble with trying to predict the future is that it can end up as a self fulfilling prophesy in that because of your worrying, you actually can make the situation happen yourself as a result of your own reactions to the reading.
Instead of focussing on the future, I recommend focussing on the 'now' and live in the now to your best ability without any worrying about the future involved.
No-one knows what's in each of our futures but the one thing we CAN do is take control right NOW and let it take us where it will take us. I always say 'Make the most of every day; do your best in every way'. What more can you do?
And then smile, knowing that you are on the best path you can be, regardless of what the future may hold.
Thanks. The manager by his own admission is controlling, domineering, pedantic and unpleasant. I would also say he loves the power of being a manager, undermines me and a bully. (Other people say worse!).
I'm keeping notes, but my worry is that its a wonderful opportunity and I have learned things- but want to stay a year minimum for my CV. I suppose if the worst were to happen, I could do temporary work in my previous easier title, but I really want to stay at this level.
I don't believe it is me, think hes holding me back!
Sending you a hug, ineedamum,. Tarot is entertainment. Nothing else. Believe in your self. And work on your self esteem. You can be your own mother, if you want to be. Tell yourself all the wonderful things you suspect a mother might say to you. I had a mother and father, but I learnt to parent myself. Too long a story... for here. Take care of yourself and the rest will follow. Write down all the things you want to achieve. And keep it for looking at when you have achieved it. Good luck
Hello ineedamum
I notice that you started this thread at the start of 2020, about a tarot reader who predicted that you would lose your job in May 2020.
(A previous poster revived the thread last night.)
Considering the extraordinary events of this year, I'm extremely intrigued to hear if the tarot reader's prediction came about. Did he 'predict' anything else?
I hope that you are well, ineedamum, and that your job was indeed secure.
Thank you in advance.
Do people still believe this nonsense.
? They really do walk among us. ?
