HQ - can you clarify a point over which there is some current disagreement please You say that GN cafe is meant to be non- judgemental. Does this only mean non-judgemental re named individuals? if so, under the guidance is it fine to go on and pass judgement( negative of course) about groups of posters on the political ( or any other threads) so long as names aren't mentioned because this counts as being non judgemental?

durhamjen Fri 16-Jun-17 12:23:47

That makes it judgmental, kitty.

Elegran Fri 16-Jun-17 12:30:18

Perhaps those who are getting so cross about the (occasional) references in SK to retiring from specific threads so much that they have to start a whole thread to defend themselves could pay a visit to the threads on estrangement, where the regular posters are frequently very disparaging of what specific visitors to the thread have posted.

They could have a ball there - plenty of people to start a fight with, and ones who will fight back and give as good as they get.

Rigby46 Fri 16-Jun-17 12:31:44

Well * kitty* it's supposed to be non judgemental on there and so SPECIFICALLY criticising and whinging about the political threads and the posters on them is not being that is it? Why not PM one of your mates if you want to have a moan about a SPECIFIC thread/ group of threads? Sorry if you don't get this. The arguments of the apologists for the misuse of SK are getting increasing arcane - they know really ( well some of them do) that it's not on but can't admit it so constantly miss the point. It's simple really - SK is supposed to be a safe haven for ANYONE who wants it. Ergo, specific groups of posters from specific threads should not be being negatively targeted on there. You know it makes sense ( or do you?). I hope that's cross enough for you dear.

Rigby46 Fri 16-Jun-17 12:33:04

Elegan you have just demonstrated by point beautifully - thank you so much.

jollyg Fri 16-Jun-17 12:33:56

Maybe the error 404 has come down on us as a bolt from the skies.

I too object to Jo Cox being brought into "kitchen' affairs, maybe thats where the rot started. Its an aniversary after all, and there are always bandwagon jumpers

Rigby46 Fri 16-Jun-17 12:36:15

And Elegan

Perhaps those who are getting so cross about the (occasional) references in SK to retiring from specific threads so much that they have to start a whole thread to defend themselves ....

You clearly mean me so why not have the straightforwardness to say so? And since when did bring cross become such an in word on GN?
Some might almost think it's code for something else......

Elegran Fri 16-Jun-17 12:40:19

You are not alone, Rigby It wasn't a veiled reference to you at all.

Elegran Fri 16-Jun-17 12:42:10

I didn't introduce crossness, but it is a theme at the moment. There's a lot of it about!

Rigby46 Fri 16-Jun-17 12:44:26

I started this thread - of course it was a reference to me. Who else has started a thread about SK? Come on, do tell... Oh wait, you can't.

So there are two basic opinions on here - the ones who think that SK should be a safe haven that isn't judgemental and doesn't criticise other posters on the political threads, even generically. And the ones who think that offering a safe haven and being non judgemental doesn't apply to political posters. Well soop sorry not to hear from you about your kitchen - are you happy with what's happening over there?

Charleygirl Fri 16-Jun-17 12:52:15

Well said MawBroon. What have we done to deserve this level of anger?

durhamjen Fri 16-Jun-17 12:53:40

How patronising, MawBroon.

NanaandGrampy Fri 16-Jun-17 12:56:44

Who are these people who are in the kitchen who are above the rules Rigby? What evidence do you have of that ? Its been pointed out by GNHQ -you should report those offensive posts and they will deleted. Just like some from you recently- so you know how it works.

More importantly where are the long threads slagging off other boards or individuals.

I obviously have nothing better to do but I have just gone through the current 33 pages (809 posts)

Approximately 10 mention either other threads or specifically political threads and 2 of those posts were from you. And when I say mention, its a line usually in a longer post about other non related stuff. And the sum total is usually , had my arse handed to me on a plate in the political threads- I'm here to recover .

Is that really what all this hoo ha is about?

So in my book there's no 'slagging off' . People make mention when they are upset, saddened or distressed and its done in the mildest of ways unlike some posts on other threads I have seen.

Maw has a point - what were you wanting from SK? You're very welcome to join us those 799 posts are about pets, grandkids, the weather, cake ( we talk about cake a lot)and life in general. Pull up a chair ...it might grow on you !!

Do you know what * rigby* I really resent your sniping at Soop in that last post (would that it were the last post too!)!
Soop doesn't have a selfish bone in her body and on Friday mornings I believe she and her husband visit a care home in the vicinity to bring some companionship, cheer and compassion to the residents with dementia.
While I am sure Soop is more than capable of standing up for herself, your inference that she could not be bothered is shameful.
You are not doing yourself or your "cause" whatever it might be, any favours.
Shameful behaviour. angry angry

Ana Fri 16-Jun-17 12:58:22

I seem to remember that a lot of SK posters objected when the Kitchen was moved into Gransnet Cafe. So perhaps it's GNHQ who should be taken to task.

Charleygirl Fri 16-Jun-17 12:58:40

Rigby if you must know, soop is at a care home visiting a friend who was admitted there a while ago. That is one of the many reasons she is not attached to her computer replying to your question.

Rigby46 Fri 16-Jun-17 12:58:55

I'll go back to the political threads now to the grown ups

Charleygirl Fri 16-Jun-17 13:03:38

A very good idea methinks.

NanaandGrampy Fri 16-Jun-17 13:09:42

But Rigby of course its personal .....

durhamjen Fri 16-Jun-17 13:15:32

Or, on the other hand, Rigby, we could just go to soops kitchen, and be non-judgmental like all the others there.

NanaandGrampy Fri 16-Jun-17 13:19:37

You'd be made welcome the same as everyone else Durhamjen.

durhamjen Fri 16-Jun-17 13:21:32

Thankyou, N&G.

NanaandGrampy Fri 16-Jun-17 13:22:24

PS bring cake !! smile or your beverage of choice ! ;-)
