Unwanted gransnet videos.

I can’t click off the ad in the bottom right the x in the circle does nothing (I’m using an iPhone) it’s driving me mad and I will stop using gransnet if it continues.

I used to enjoy GN. but the invasion of these ads really spoils it. I have decided to limit my time on the site to once a week and to only one forum from now on.

When I'm browsing GN on my phone, as I am now, when I try to write in a thread these videos are actually in the way, obscuring part of the screen. This is annoying ☹️

I have started getting these videos in the bottom right hand corner. No idea what they're for as I close them (when the X works) straight away. So they are counterproductive, a waste of time, money, space and coding - if I did bother to notice what they were for, I would refuse to buy that product.

They probably don't apply to me anyway as I don't live in the UK.

They really are extremely intrusive as I usually access GN on my phone and space on the screen is limited.

Same here JackyB. I’m using my phone and these annoying videos popping up obscure a large section of the screen. A very annoying distraction which I’m trying to ignore.

If these videos are actually advertising something then the marketing is lost on me. I have the sound muted on them and if the X works I close them.

The adverts are a new format we are testing.

You can't click off the advert that appears in the thread, but you can close the one on the bottom right by clicking the X button.

We really appreciate all of your feedback on this and we are discussing it.

Yes you can click them off but when you move the screen they pop back up.

Glad it's not just me. You need to get rid of these ads, GN. Or are you making money out of them? Either way, you will lose customers, me included.

LillyGransnet - Can you please remove the videos of men and women strutting about in very colourful underwear. I am finding it quite offensive. If you remove it it just reappears straight away

I can nuke them on the laptop, which is how I usually browse GN, but not on my phone. They are very annoying, and I doubt they sell very much, as I just click them off as soon as they appear. I have no idea what any of them are selling.

They are driving me insane! They interrupt my train of thought, which doesn't need any help at the best of times!

As soon as I scroll past the video ad, the corner one pops up.

I don't use GN on my phone, only my laptop. I've installed the free Adblock Plus - so never see any adverts.

I access GN on my phone and don’t come on very often now as they’re just so annoying. I have never watched one either.

It was 'being discussed' on October 15th.
How long does a discussion take?
It is fairly obvious the membership does not want or even read these things, so........

I aggree with every word tha eazybee says! The ads are annoying and a waste of space - I try to ignore them and never watch them. Please. please get rid of them!!!

These ads are so annoying on the laptop. I too try to ignore them but the movement on them makes it difficult and I tend to give up reading the thread.

Still waiting for a solution to stop the black screen which cuts out the first few posts on a thread!! 😡

I hate them and scroll past quickly not even noticing what they are advertising.

My anti-virus app pauses all videos automatically so the videos don't bother me, but I'm utterly fed up with our disgraced former PM popping up in the bottom right hand corner of my screen every day... 🤢

I've reported my post with a message to say that I don't think they are getting the message. If we are scrolling past these annoying videos, any advertising is going to be pretty ineffective anyway!

Maybe if we all reported our posts...

We know that these adverts are causing some frustration - we're monitoring user thoughts during this period but at the moment, we are going to keep using them. Many similar forums use this ad format and we do need to keep up with the times to keep the lights on.
