Just heard Ryan Peniston’s story. What a wonderful inspiration and story of hope for parents with babies and children going through cancer at the moment. Such a courageous and lovely young man.
Wow! What a nerve-shredding day of really 1st class tennis - Nadal, and then Serena. At times I thought Nadal wasn't going to get through. Cerundolo gave him a run for his money. He'll be someone to watch next year.
More tennis today. Will I never move off the sofa???
Oh my goodness, I spent three hours last night watching Serena Williams and Tam what a fantastic match, I was on the edge of my seat. Tam deserved to win, make room for the younger players
Boring, boring, boring! Just pleased SW has gone. I Like Royal Ascot! Only a week, and not on both channels all day! Just too much when you are 'force-fed' it!
I tend to not enjoy tennis as much as I used to. They never smile any more, except emma Radicanu. They are to technical and there are only rare flashes of brilliance. I also can't bear watching Nadal and his OCD, not his fault I know but I find it so distracting, all the grunts and screams put me off too.
I couldn't agree more, SJV07. There's a sizeable portion of the population who don't follow tennis at any level. Why are we subjected to a fortnight's disruption of TV channels for the duration. Why can't the beeb allocate one Sports channel and confine all sport to that channel, endlessly and on repeat if necessary. The rest of us do not want to be 'included'.
If you find it boring, SJV07 that's perfectly fine. No real need to post it on a thread that clearly indicates is for fans of the game! There are numerous channels to watch if you want to avoid Wimbledon. Personally I can't stand Royal Ascot. I can't stand horse racing of any type. Cruel. Having horses I know a bit about the sport and it's not pleasant.
Back to Wimbledon, I now have a feeling about Djokovic. He will win in straight sets. It will be rather speedy. Then we have Emma and Andy to look forward to. Looks like it will be another great day
My favourite time of the year. No housework or gardening. Got some strawberries and wine and now glued to the tv. Glad Rafa won, poor Matteo, I was looking forward to seeing him again after he won Queens and he was so nice to Sue Barker. I do admire Serena and her fantastic achievements over the years but I have to confess I don’t like all the screaming and histrionics on court. I think it’s not respectful to the other player. Watching Peniston now, it’s not going too well at the moment.
Andy is facing Isner. He's the guy who played in the longest match in Wimbledon history. 11 hours and 5 minutes over 3 days. The final set of course had no tie break those days so they slogged on until Isner won 70 - 68. That's when Wimbledon introduced a tie break for the final sets as well.
He's tall as well. But so is Andy .I am pretty certain that Andy will lose the first set. He seems to do that so often. Still not got a feeling as to who will win. Of course I am crossing everything for Andy
Their record is having met 8 times and Andy has won all 8. Isner's said to have one of the biggest serves on the circuit and Andy one of the best returns.
I think you could be right about the first set Zoejory.
personally I hate sport and hate why the normal TV schedule has to be changed to adapt to the sport programme. Why can't there be a sports channel which would leave the scheduled programmes alone? I don't mean you people that love sport should pay for it but please just leave us that hate sport to watch tv as per the tv guide?
