I'm not interested in watching sport!

I cannot be enthused by tennis. There! I've said it! It amazes me how much the media is obsessed by Wimbledon.

I don't watch any sport. I'm just not a spectator. My late husband would watch absolutely any sport. He would probably have watched tiddly winks or shove halfpenny if they'd televised it! I just find it stultifying boring watching other people playing sport. I'd rather play it myself although probably not team sports.

I played tennis and hockey at school. I loved athletics and was a good runner. I train in Shotokan karate four times every week. I've played badminton, snooker and table tennis. I just can't be bothered to watch other people playing sport. It leaves me cold.

Over to you!

I've really enjoyed the cricket this summer, both men's and women's, Test matches and the short forms. But I'm following it while I do something else, rather than watching it avidly.
I had my favourite tennis players at Wimbledon, and found out when they were playing, put tennis on the TV while I kept tabs on the cricket via my tablet.
If I want to watch something to the exclusion of all else, I go and watch it at the venue.

I’m not a sports fan, but when I knocked at my 80+ neighbour’s to ask if she’d like to go out for a morning coffee, she said no thank you, because she was watching the football. So I’ve still got time to become a fan. We like the Red Bull Soap Box challenge.

Absolutely not interested in any spectator sport, particularly if it involves balls! My husband and one son feel compelled to tell me how their team is doing even though they know I care not! I always remember when my son was aged about 8 or 9 and England got kicked out of a world cup, he threw himself prostrate on the floor with real tears shock It's always beyond me how much some people care about sport! I get somewhat enthused about the Olympics especially when we hosted 2012, I did get almost carried away as the medals clocked up.

A hangover from childhood, my parents were absolutely glued to Wimbledon, I think we felt quite neglected, it never enthused me, I even had one set of grandparents live in Wimbledon although no where near the tennis, I did get dragged there once by a friend whose brother was a ball boy, it was lost on me. Worse than tennis as a spectator sport, is golf, my husband plays it, that I don't mind, but when he settles down to watch it, just so, so dull! not sure if a pulse is even required for such a purpose!

I've never been what you'd call sporty (more what you'd call the sort having a sneaky fag in the far reaches of the school field when I'd managed to get away with being a sub at hockey). But I enjoy following "our" teams in some big international events, such as the football world cups, and I absolutely love the Olympics. I've never seen the attraction of tennis, rugby, motorsport, golf, but each to their own. I wouldn't complain about the amount of sport on TV, any more than I would about the number of cooking/property/reality programmes - the production companies only show what the viewers want to watch and if the audiences weren't massive, these programmes wouldn't be on. DH watches a lot more sport than I do, but I can always catch up somehow with anything I miss, and there's always that massive pile of books waiting to be read..... It doesn't bother me enough to consider getting another TV anyway.

I do enjoy watching Wimbledon, swimming and athletics but I do not agree that all programmes have to be re-arranged for one specific event. I think there should be a separate sports channel and people not interested in sport will not be inconvenienced.

I was one of the last kids to be picked at school games and had absolutely no aptitude or interest in football or rugby. Coming from the North East originally, I often get asked if I'm Newcastle or Sunderland and say neither as it just doesn't interest me. Also the Euros will be something to avoid this summer as well, even the last ones when England reached the final, I just went out for a long walk.
OTOH I think nothing of going for a 10 mile walk, even in hot weather, and combined with a big reduction in my beer consumption since the lockdown, keeps my weight down. I love exercise, just can't stand watching most sports.
