Delighted for Paolini, but that match — although high drama — was not exactly high quality.

There were some great shots, of course, but overall….

I was rooting for Jasmine Paolini but still heartbroken for Donna Vekic.

I didn't intend to start watching - haven't watched for several years... but have been looking for Paulini since two rounds back!

Super pleased for Barbora though the match wasn’t as watchable as the first.

I really enjoyed watching Paolini scampering about the court and looking as if she was thoroughly enjoying herself. She reminds me a bit, in her court presence, of Yvonne Goolagong or Maria Bueno as I dimly recall.

Shame the second semi started on quite a muted note, with lots of empty seats, but pleased to see it picked up once the toilet and snack breaks were completed.

Did you see that the ballboys' role of towel handlers, stopped during Covid, is to be reinstated after Wimbledon? Something to do with it being a rush for the players with the introduction of new timing rules between points, in addition to their having a snack and selecting their balls of choice etc. Will cut out the walking ...

Djokovics
I presume Novak is trying to soften the dour personality he adopts on the court, with TV footage of him playing with both of his children and 'hitting' with his young son who looks to be already in full command of his racket. In another 10 years or so, we might be seeing Djokovic2 in Junior Wimbledon. I doubt if this will thaw his relationship with the spectators, but at least his kids are enjoying themselves with dad.

Re commentators. Tracy Austin talks skills and tactics, unlike most of them who tell us the ble**ing obvious. Annabel Croft is totally at the top of the commentating team. Give her the biggest job!!
BUT PLEASE BBC!!...tell Clare Balding to stop shrieking and shouting and Sam Smith to stop her inane muttering and whispering.

It seems when you’re hot you’re in demand as a TV commentator/ presenter.
Clare Balding has presented Horse Racing (she was a rider), Crufts, Olympics, Paralympics and now Wimbledon.
She wouldn’t have been in my top 5 for replacing Sue Barker.
Sue didn’t shriek, but had a good sense of humour and knew Tennis inside out.

By the way I don’t dislike Clare, but think she is better suited to Horse Racing and Equestrian events.

It isn’t easy being a link person on tv programmes. When Clare left horse racing she commentated on rugby league and DH tells me everyone was very impressed with her knowledge. Another person that gets a lot of criticism is Rishi Persad and I think he’s wonderful.

Quite a few of the commentators have annoyed me this year - I must be getting more intolerant in my old age! And Clare Balding, who is good in other settings, just isn’t the right person for the job. I do like Annabelle Croft.
Can’t call it in the women’s final, like them both. Anybody but Djokovic in the men’s. I know he’s a great player but just don’t like him - probably says more about me than him!
