bath versus shower!

I must come clean here grin I haven't had a bath for about 7 years!!
I am a shower person through and through. Think I am too impatient by nature to fill and then wallow in a bath.I love my shower and feel invigorated afterwards rather than sleepy [which is what a bath used to do to me.]What about you? By the way, I am NOT a journalist. grin

I'm not going to ask about the Fly-Lady's swish and swipe! hmm

I can't imagine starting my day without jumping in the shower but each to their own. Often have one in the evening too if I don't want to wet my hair I just lower the shower head to shoulder height and put my hair up it works fine like that.

Thanks for the tip, Charley

Swish and Swipe. Mainly for Ana smile

Ana Mon 10-Mar-14 18:16:53

Wow! What have I been missing? grin
Thanks, jingl!

Happy to oblige. smile

Gagagran yes, baths can be very dangerous indeed. DGS once almost knocked himself out getting into the bath [the rubber mat slipped.]Your poor neighbour! shock Think we may have the bath taken out, make more room in the bathroom, and we hardly use it.I also don't like the tiled floor [it's so cold!]

rosesarered Mon 10-Mar-14 18:25:33

If we do take the bath out, we may do a bit of re-tiling and decorating in the bathroom, so, not sure about colours [tiles and wall] What colour scheme is your bathroom? Give me some ideas?

goldengirl Mon 10-Mar-14 18:57:10

Shower for speed but a bath on Saturday and/or Sunday when I'm not so rushed.
I like neutral colours for the bathroom - beige or should I say light caramel with patterned border. White flecked tiles in the shower room with black and grey border tiles. Baths, basins and loos are all white.

Why do people say they're going to 'jump in the shower'? You wouldn't say 'I'm going to jump in the bath'. I think both would be highly dangerous to attempt! confused

Dragonfly1 Mon 10-Mar-14 20:39:29

Ana my SIL always says he's going to 'hop in the shower'. Now there's an image!

annodomini Mon 10-Mar-14 21:36:22

Likewise why say, 'I'll just grab a shower'? That sounds pretty uncomfortable. In fact, I dislike the use of 'grab' in so many contexts - is it symbolic of the society we live in?

All my life I longed to have two toilets. We finally managed it by losing the bath and just having a walk in shower so that we could fit in an extra toilet. I wish we had done it years ago! Now I only have a bath if I'm in a hotel - then it is a treat.

You can go into a dreamy, thoughtful state more easily in the bath.

Cuticles soften better in the bath.

A married friend who was having a passionate affair once told me that she always had a bath when she got back home as 'a shower would not do'. That seems to suggest that bath water can reach those parts that shower water cannot.

I'm just out of a lovely long bath, cuticles soft, skin wrinkly.

No hot water for the washing up though.

rosesarered Tue 11-Mar-14 10:19:17

Petallus that's another thing, bath water reaching those parts[and often having bubble bath lotion and potions in it, soapy] can cause Thrush!! Also the dreamy sleepy state is one that I need to avoid as well.
People say 'jump, hop, grab' for a shower, because it means they will be quick [ as opposed to an hour for a bath.]
Goldengirl thanks for your bathroom colours tips. My bathroom faces East so I think we need warmer colours, I like the sound of caramel [mmmmmn, yum.]At present the tiles are all white with a mosaic border, but with the white bathroom suite and a tiled floor, it looks cold [and feels cold in spite of heating.]

Bath, bath, bath!

I jump in the shower when I'm in a hurry and need to wash my hair.

Like mamie I need to have a bath in my home and Jings I get what you mean re the nether regions, which is why Mamie likes the bidet.

I also do the "birdbath and hand shower" thing. smile

rosesarered Tue 11-Mar-14 21:18:12

Huh?? confused

Grannyknot Tue 11-Mar-14 21:46:16

Roses, birdbath = bathing (quick splash) in 2" of water, and then standing up and rinsing off with the hand shower attachment.

Ana Tue 11-Mar-14 22:03:53

2 inches of water?? Hardly worth it...hmm
May as well just have a shower.

Grannyknot Tue 11-Mar-14 22:06:46

Okay maybe it's 4" of water, and I hate getting my hair wet (unless I am washing it) and I refuse to wear a shower cap!

Ana Tue 11-Mar-14 22:10:42

I hate that too, grannyknot, but I've got it down to a fine art and never get either my face or my hair wet while having a shower. I wash my hair over the bath using the hand-held shower attachment every morning.

jinglbellsfrocks Tue 11-Mar-14 22:32:25

I have five inches of water. And I take the shower head off the wall to do the necessary.

This is getting TMI !!! hmm

Ana Tue 11-Mar-14 22:43:16

Any advance on 5 inches? grin

Gally Tue 11-Mar-14 23:02:31

2"! 5"! I have the water up to my neck - must be at least 15". I have a big double ended bath and can't see the point of not luxuriating in it. Call me extravagant, but I only have a bath about once a week or 10 days so I don't feel too bad about it.

jinglbellsfrocks Tue 11-Mar-14 23:34:24

Those baths are a nightmare to get out of. The sides are too high to get the leverage for the uplift.

And long baths are weakening. So, watch it. hmm
