Why do manufacturers think that both your IQ and your age plummet at night only to return to normal during the day? I do not want slippers with toy dogs on the toes, nightdresses/pyjamas with cartoon characters/silly slogans/twee pictures, etc, etc. I'd like something stylish and grown up, but not fuddy duddy nor overtly "sexy". I've just looked at M&S ballerina slippers and there isn't a pair I'd contemplate. Of course, I realise this is a personal view and other people may love them!

Pooh bear is for all ages, how sad to grow too old for this adorable character, well I accept some like twee

That's just my user name....I am 65 and a gran. Being dim, I didn't realise that this would show up as my actual name in the forum!

Hello David

Katek Thu 12-Nov-15 14:27:28

Welcome David....why do I want to call you Dave?? You could go with what ladies of a certain vintage are called in certain areas of Scotland and just add 'ina' to your name. We get Jamesina, Davidina, Williamina!

I like plain t shirt nighties-I usually get pack of two from Sainsburys-wear, wash and tumble dry. Perfect.

I buy from a company who stock nightdresses by Powell Craft. I have bought several for my granddaughters and know they do ladies, too. The ladies nighties are all in white cotton and if they are as good as the children's they are amazing, as they just wash and wash. I have just checked and can't see any long sleeved (I think they used to do a 'Victorian' type with long sleeves but can't see it now) but there are a few designs with either short sleeves or are sleeveless.

My granddaughters just love receiving a new nightie as the designs are slightly old-fashioned (none of your Disney princesses here - thank goodness) and they can do 'twirls' in them!

The shop is Loobylou in Sheffeild and they offer free postage. I have always been very impressed with this business as the items are dispatched quickly and arrive prettily packed. I must stress that I have nothing to do with this shop, just that it is not very often that I feel I can genuinely recommend something with a qualm.

I wish manufacturers would top making pyjama tops with scoop or deep v necklines - my boobs fall out of the neckline when I lie down in bed LOL blush

Candelle Thu 12-Nov-15 15:43:06

Oops, that should obviously read 'without a qualm'! Apologies!

Sue162 Thu 12-Nov-15 18:01:45

Yes, like Loopylou and Jogginggirl, I buy separate pyjama bottoms and then find a T shirt to match. I hate nighties, they always "rile" up on me and are very uncomfortable! Is there such a word as "rile", I wonder? confused

I wish.... anneliz

Total comfort at this time of the year is getting into pj's early evening (bra-less) and then just relaxing - you don't even have to change to get into bed ... bliss wink smile

I'm easily pleased.

Can't stand PJs - I wear cotton nighties- with long sleeves and long length in the heart of our very cold winters, and short sleeves and knee length rest of the time. Plain or stripes - can't stand frills or silly patterns.

tanith Wed 09-Dec-15 12:21:34

I have various PJ's with fleecy long sleeve tops but I have to take them off to sleep I cannot abide anything rucking round me I have trouble turning over in bed and its so much easier naked.. its a nightmare if I'm away or when I was in hospital I can manage as what I have on is slippy then I can turn myself..

Maranta Wed 09-Dec-15 13:00:14

I gave up on nightdresses when I was going through the menopause. I didn't like my sweaty legs sticking together! Much more comfortable in pjs.

Jayh Wed 09-Dec-15 13:05:29

I would love to find a truly long nightie and dressing gown. I am 5ft 5in but it is difficult to find garments that come down to my ankles and don't stop at my calf. M&S do some but if anyone knows of a supplier then please let me know.

GeorgeW Wed 09-Dec-15 13:19:47

I buy pj bottoms cos they tend to have stripes/spots/stars/checks as a pattern if anything at all. I find the tops in pj sets too short for lounging around in. I imagine they are on the shorter side because they're better for sleeping in?! I pair my new "lounge pants" with old t-shirts, the ones you've worn until they've lost their shape & are a bit faded! I have twice as many tops cos I change them every day or every other day, another reason pj sets wouldn't work for me!

petra Wed 09-Dec-15 20:45:24

I would genuially like to know why people wear anything in bed. Is it because your cold, not comfortable naked. It's always felt wrong to me to wear anything.

tanith Wed 09-Dec-15 21:24:57

I'm with you petra grin

crun Thu 10-Dec-15 00:58:39

I could do with some better looking nightwear, mines all hairy and wrinkly, and covered in moles.

Alima Thu 10-Dec-15 06:29:48

"moles" crun?
