I can highly recommend the 'New in' tencel shirts £29.50. I bought one in pale pink.
Not worn yet but fits fine, is soft and a lovely colour.
Also the ochre and black dress which was £49.50.
A young woman passed by when I was holding it up against myself to see if it suited, asked where the rack was and rushed off to get one.

EDIT: GNHQ here. Here's the link to the dress pictured to save you searching. smile

I see Vicky McClure is modelling for M&S Autumn collection and she'd look super cool even in a bin bag!

gillybob, I have just bought a pair of trainers, guess what colour ? Bright orange !! I have small feet, so bought childrens, people keep passing remarks as I walk the dog, goshopping etc, some are nice but" my friend said "did you have to buy that colour " ?
Also " can we see you in the dark" ?I like them

gillybob Sat 07-Sept-19 14:37:44

Good for you LittlemoO ! Actually orange is very much in fashion at the moment along with all of the other Autumnal colours so your trainers are probably bang on trend . Who cares anyway ? As long as you love them . My DD has size 3 feet and struggles to get many shoes without resorting to the children’s department . Her feet are quite wide too which makes it even harder . She normally manages in the Clarks kids section .

I was lucky with my DD the other day. She is 23 and takes size 2. She often buys children's versions of DMs (size 1 in those) and Converse shoes but this time l was in a charity shop and bought her a pair of New Look tan sandals with a fairly high heel. She loves them.

Musicgirl Sat 07-Sept-19 14:59:29

I should have said they were as new.

I pucked up my M&S order this afternoon. The ochre and black patterned dress is lovely, has luxurious ties at the neck and small self-covered buttons right down the front. I'm 5-6.5 and it comes in one length. regular which falls to just below mid-calf on me...without shoes. Sleeves are a good length and cuffs each fasten with one self covered button.
A very good 5* buy.

The aviator jacket (I bought black version) is terrific.
Length is fingertip, extremely well made. Has a large chest piece which goes from L to R then the zipped RHS meets the corresponding teeth on the left, diagonally from R to L.
Great zipped jetted pockets which feel padded but aren't and are the right length for your arms.

Sides have wide adjuster belt n buckle above hem as does the neck (if you want the collar up)
The whole body of the jacket is lined with the cognac coloured fur which trims the cuffs, hem and all the collar.
It's warm enough to wear bare naked.
The coldest wind and iciest weather would have no effect on you if you were wearing this garment.
It's machine washable and at £69, it's a steal although you'd have a hard time getting it dirty.
I loooove it.
I'll wear it with everything especially 'the dress' and clumpy black walking boots which are everywhere now.
I got 20% off the dress and 5x points on the order which made it cheap as chips.

Lessismore Sat 07-Sept-19 21:41:19

Why would you want to be naked , save for an aviator jacket?

GabriellaG54 Sat 07-Sept-19 21:47:07

Don't be ridiculous. Remarks like that show you up.

GrannyGravy13 Sat 07-Sept-19 21:51:42

I shall be looking at the aviator jacket x

Lessismore Sat 07-Sept-19 21:54:29

Oh no, I was going to share an amusing anecdote about my zip getting trapped.

GabriellaG54 Sat 07-Sept-19 22:05:02

Try this...?

GagaJo Sat 07-Sept-19 22:32:24

GabriellaG54, I disagree. I think Lessismore is hilarious. grin grin grin

I was in there today and saw quite a few pieces I would wear. At 50 I usually feel as if I’m not quite in their target demographic but I was pleasantly surprised. I’m not sure I’d wear any of their jackets with my birthday suit though, but perhaps that’s fashionable in other parts of the UK.

I am finding this refreshingly positive about M&S and makes a change from the constant knocking it gets. It would definitely be missed if it went under because it's the main store that keeps the high street going. I know they sell some tat in an effort to price match cheaper shops, but I find in their price range they are generally better quality than similar clothing shops. Am off to look at the aviator jacket now.

Time to sort out your thermals?
If DM reporting can be believed (often very unreliable) we are in for the coldest winter for 30 years with temperatures falling to well below zero in Jan and Feb.
Scientists study sea temperatures to forecast weather up to 4 months in advance and say that another Beast From The East is headed our way this winter.
The Met office endorse their findings but don't forecast so far in advance.
2009-10 was bad enough.

This is the style I was referring to. It’s lost a lot of its “stretch” now. Bought 4 of these 10 years ago in different colours and love them. Note the piping detail - you don’t see this level of quality these days. They were about £17.50 each then. If they reappeared I would buy them all! I personally like this style - everything is baggy now.

SueDonim Sun 08-Sept-19 13:45:58

GabriellaG54 I'm currently in Australia and I'm wearing thermals right now! shock

Fiachna50 Sun 08-Sept-19 14:40:29

I do like the underwear and nightwear, but most of the clothes are very expensive, sadly the quality is poor.

Brunette10 Sun 08-Sept-19 14:40:48

GabriellaG54 I am also looking at the aviator jacket however I am size 8/10 petite not sure how it would look or indeed fit me. I do so like it though. Any comments? smile

Brunette10 Sun 08-Sept-19 14:50:56

As always at the 'coo's tail'. Just ordered online only to be told aviator jacket now out of stock in my size - grrr!!!!! sad

TheMidget Sun 08-Sept-19 15:11:25

I agree with those who say that M & S has lost its way big time with regard to style . It can’t be that difficult, why don’t they look at other companies that manage to get great styles - Boden, mint velvet . I also have an issue with their sizing. I’m a 10/12 ish normally, but even some of their size 8’s are too big especially the jumpers. Mind you, vanity sizing is right across the high street - we all think we are a size or two smaller than we used to be when sizing was accurate . I have a lovely leather skirt that I bought in marks 30+ years ago. It’s a size 12, I couldn’t begin to get in it but can’t bring myself to throw it away. Now a size 10 M & S skirt fits. ?

Lazigirl Sun 08-Sept-19 17:52:13

I've just looked at petite aviator jacket Brunette10 and they appear to be in stock so I'm going to order one of them.

Jane10 Sun 08-Sept-19 18:07:35

I've just bought a lovely royal blue trench coat from M&S. It feels like it should be much more expensive than it is. It may be too grown up for me though but I have to look respectable for an event on Tuesday and this coat will be my disguise!

GabriellaG54 Sun 08-Sept-19 21:04:18

Sorry not daylight lighting but was just taking pics for another product and these were hanging in spare bedroom, so thought I'd show what they look like in 'real life' so to speak.

GabriellaG54 Sun 08-Sept-19 21:06:21

One thing I'd mention re aviator jacket. The sleeves would not accommodate you wearing a thick sweater unless you have thin arms.
