Will never wear a normal bra again!

My daughter told me about crop tops from Primark or even crop tops from anywhere! Gosh, I’ve had some uncomfortable bras in the past, wires digging in and straps constantly falling down. Just wondered if anyone else has found how wonderful they are!

Jane 10, do you have a style number on the label - can’t find them on the M&S website?

No evidence of underwire bras causing cancer... see link.

I couldn't bear bouncing and flopping about. I once read that leaving your boobs to themselves/gravity stretches the muscles and whatever else is in there irreparably, so I'll stick to my underwired bras, fastened tightly, thank you. Only removed at bed time. I don't want my mammaries banging against my knees in ten years' time.

I don't find bras uncomfortable and wear one even in this hot weather - especially in this hot weather! The thought of sweaty flesh slithering over sweaty flesh horrifies me.

Hear hear, underwired, lightly padded, tightly fastened so no slippage for me. Crucially, wider straps over shoulders.
Non at night tho I do have to hike the babies about when I'm turning side to side.blush

Do they give you any shape at all 'though? I burned my back badly last year and the new skin there is very thin. Bras cut quite painfully. Tried a pull on bra and felt like Judy Garland in The Wizard of Oz!

I am a convert to non-wired bras and M and S do some lacy crop tops especially for D cup plus. They are extremely supportive and comfortable.

I'm a 38F and I only ever wear Glamorise sports bras, model number 1006. They are very comfortable and supportive. I've wasted a fortune over the years on bras that don't fit properly and are uncomfortable to painful. I stopped wearing underwired ones years ago, when I was wearing one, one of the wires decided to poke itself out of the top of my blouse. The class I was teaching were entranced and mystified as to what it was. Never again.

I long ago gave up on wires. Just recently, on a recommendation from a VERY well-endowed friend, I discovered Bravissimo bra-lets. Don't be put off by the word - I know they're usually thought of as being for the AA women of this world but these really are great (I'm a DD). Supportive but soft and so very comfy.

I am too heavy (36FF) to wear those type of bras/tops and sometimes my normal, measured for bras are uncomfortable so I bought some strap extenders. Brilliant I thought, all my bras are comfortable until my OH said that I look lopsided and need to pull myself up. Back to the underwires and a snug fit me thinks.

Aepgirl can't find the style number but it's a 'Flexfit crop top bralette'. Good luck. I love the way the varying strengths of the elastic cantilevers my 40F bosom.

I suffer from narrow shoulders and plagued with brastraps slipping down. Then came along a design from M &S that had silicone strip under strap and pretty too. Alas after many years, they stopped making them.... said people were allergic to silicone?? My mother broke a wrist so I got a set of soft bras with no fastenings. She did not take to them so I took them back and found them great! I since source a selection of rainbow colours online. I have looked at Primark ones but query the straps, imagine will slip?

twinnytwin Mon 10-Aug-20 12:22:07

I've been wearing pull on bras for a long time now as I'm allergic to the metal back fasteners. They drive me mad. I've bought them from Sainsburys and Amazon.

I haven't tried the crop top, or bra-let type but I have been wearing the sloggy type for years. No hooks, no wires, no thin slipping straps and because they have individual cups they do give a decent shape and support, but then I'm only a B cup.

Theoddbird Mon 10-Aug-20 12:29:03

I like my boobs to be where they are supposed to be and have shape u see my clothes. Love undeterred. If they are the correct size you do not get digging wirez

Caramac Mon 10-Aug-20 12:34:57

I wear underwired in the day, a cotton hook and eye bra to bed and have underwire in my swimsuits.
On a, ahem, lower note I have found not wearing knickers under floaty shorts in this hot weather to be so cool and strangely liberating ?

narrowboatnan Mon 10-Aug-20 12:55:30

Is there such a thing as a truly comfortable bra? I am a 44D and have two M & S bras (both measured for in store) and two Miss Mary ones. Whilst they are comfortable in regards support, I find that the under boob band rolls and makes me sweaty. I usually end up slathered in Sudocrem to take the soreness away. If I’m not going anywhere or seeing anyone I much prefer unfettered knockers ?

Theoddbird Mon 10-Aug-20 13:04:43

Oh gosh....I did not check predictive text...apologies...hahaha

Christingle Mon 10-Aug-20 13:44:35

I loath wearing a bra and no matter what the size is more of us should just go without one. I didn't wear one for the whole time in lockdown.

Christingle Mon 10-Aug-20 13:47:46

They will anyway fall and hang like hamsters.

AlfiesGM Mon 10-Aug-20 13:49:36

Size 40D here, since lumpectomy for cancer and scar tissue I find bras very uncomfortable. I found a soft crop top from Matalan and now that’s all I wear. They give me a lovely rounded shape too! I’ve got them in several different colours smile

janeainsworth Mon 10-Aug-20 13:56:41

<sigh> they can cause cancer if used regularly
Do you have a reference to any research suggesting that, diy, or even any plausible theories of your own?

Carolpaint Mon 10-Aug-20 14:01:13

No unfettered breasts are inviting bacteria to colonise beneath the underhang.
Decent bras with wires, lightly padded are right for cup sizes above (a), if you want saggy breasts then wear these crop tops. Having breast fed two children am still proud of mine and they are. Appalled to go into a changing room to observe a childless friend’s sagging outline, who HATES under wired bras. Once that muscle goes that is it.

BeenBizzy Mon 10-Aug-20 14:04:32

For years now I have worn a bra made by ''Trifolium.''
Full cups in all sizes .no wires. Various colours.
They control but are cumfy.
I buy from a lady on Ebayuk. These bras are not expensive as some bras go ........
I most certainly would not swop for any of the fancy brands ....

Jane10 Mon 10-Aug-20 14:06:10

I always used to wear underwired bras. These ones I'm talking about are just as supportive. Not cheap. I can only talk about the M&S ones btw. Generic crop tops don't offer support.
